To have found Harry&Meghans NY podcast quite uplifting

(And it was v cute to hear Archie speaking also)

Just that really. Yes there was some cheesy bits with some speaker talk of “nourishment” (cringe) by reading children’s books, but most of it was good and positive. Nice mix of contributors. Well done Harry & Meghan.

@Thewinterofdiscontent - I should not laugh - but I did - they look like gap year students. I am sure they mean well - but had they kept in the RF they could have done more to help charities. Oh I don't know but wanting to get several hundred million to keep yourself afloat - - well - your choice, I do think they come across as a little hypocritical & I am sure they do not mean to - but seriously - if you wanted to do good works from a decent platform - then you could have done it from a smaller house - you don't need $11m house - you could have done this from within the RF- Anyway - their choice .

HmmSureJan · 02/01/2021 17:39

Sorry that was for @mymadpuppy

HmmSureJan · 02/01/2021 17:42

The queen's shilling"?......Meaningless and far removed from anything of any merit.

Grin Lols as my teens would say m. Bet you haven't and couldn't if you tried!

@SheldonesqueIsUnwell

I agree with all your posts Smile

mymadpuppy · 02/01/2021 18:17

me how I should live my life.

. Not just Her Majesty and the family but the country.
Yes I was proud too when I served, nothing to do with "her majesty" though . It was also not a job I could drop in and out of at will. Unlike the royals. The people I gave respect to were the ones I worked along side, not some spoiled privileged family sponging off the taxpayer.

mymadpuppy · 02/01/2021 18:18

HmmsureJan I HAVE tried it, have you?

mymadpuppy · 02/01/2021 18:20

So it's you who appear rather odd.

HmmSureJan · 02/01/2021 18:30

@mymadpuppy

HmmsureJan I HAVE tried it, have you?
Yes, many years Smile

Hmm, strange, in all my years of service and then as a civilian attached to various military units I have never heard a serving military person dismiss their time served as meaningless and not felt at least some small amount of pride in it. Tbh most of your posts are quite aggressive, confused and a bit all over the place, you don't seem to know who is posting what. I'd not engage with that kind of communication style in real life if I could help it so forgive me if I bow out now.

mymadpuppy · 02/01/2021 18:44

My time was certainly not meaningless. Where on earth did you get that from. Do you really think that all our serving forces feel pride because of the royal family rather than the people they serve alongside. Time you realised that we aren't all monarchists. Some of us aren't taken in by the BS and brainwashing. But carry on with the forelock tugging. The royals depend on people like you.

HmmSureJan · 02/01/2021 18:53

🙄

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 02/01/2021 19:06

My colleagues were the same ilk as HmmsureJan’s. In fact I would go as far to say we were fiercely loyal of the Queen and most of the family.

Unlike you, I had a job where I was dropped in and hauled out. It was more than meaningful to me.

I wouldn’t want the life of a royal as the constant spotlight and attention is very very alien to me. Even now in civilian life I am more of a person who prefers to be in the shadows so to speak.

The family I have met have been gracious and kind and funny. They haven’t dropped out as and when they’ve felt they weren’t up for the job as far as I can see. They do their duty as I did mine. Is it a hard 10-10 shift down the mines? No - not really. But it is hard in other ways.

The only thing I could have in common with them lifestyle wise is that I could be targeted for who I am and what I did. Not a way I wish to live any more if I can help it.

Apart from one or two who felt the grass was greener and shinier, they mostly still have my loyalty. One I reserve judgement on for obvious reasons.

This isn’t what the thread was about though was it treacle? Grin

So. To go back to the question in hand - I don’t feel uplifted by the website. Just irritated.

There Wink

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 02/01/2021 19:10

They are more than welcome to depend on me.

Every day and twice on Sundays. And my ex colleagues would be standing shoulder to shoulder beside me.

Knee deep in bullshit and forelock hair it would seem Wink

Strange people. Oh well it takes all sorts. Why on earth should they depend on anyone....Me, I'd rather the poor, sick and disabled depend on ME. You know those people that need help not those who have so much they'd never be able to spend it.
SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 02/01/2021 22:18

I shoulder that particular ‘burden’ too puppy both at home and elsewhere.

Born with broad shoulders. And legs and arse that belong on an elephant Smile

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 02/01/2021 22:30

Although to be totally truthful - it isn’t poor.

Disabled - yes. Dementia - yes. Life limiting - yes. Chronic pain - yes.

I thank my lucky stars I’m able to plod along in fairly rude health so that we aren’t in a worse situation.

Like anyone royal is going to chap on my door for help... but if they want me to do what I used to do (if they gave me a bit of time to get back in gear and lose this heft) what I used to for Queen and country then I’d be there.
