Maybe people just don't post when things are going well, but the top 5 threads in my feed seem to be about a ruined Christmas, a fucked Christmas, a Christmas in tatters, someone who is fuming and someone else who didn't get to see her children open their stockings.

Lovely day. No arguments, kids love their presents, food all going fine, very chilled.

People post when they need support, or to vent, and generally not when life is fine - it would be a bit gloaty to respond to someone upset with, "my day is going great!" I suppose. But I think more people have happy days than bad ones (though we all get a bum Xmas too, every now and then).

TrickyD · 25/12/2020 11:14

Brilliant here! DS2, DP and DGS came to drop off presents at the end of last week, caught by Covid19 regulations and stayed on, so they are still here today. Everyone is in a fabulous mood, presents perfect, goodness knows when they will be able to depart.

Purplecatshopaholic · 25/12/2020 11:14

Great time here. Relaxing with fizz and chocolate, just me and DP and the pets. Peaceful, and quiet.

anothernamereally · 25/12/2020 11:17

Lovely here - late night and early morning but everyone liked their presents and I've been up for a nap already Smile

innercitysumo · 25/12/2020 11:19

Ours has been wonderful so far 🥰🎄 I hope everyone else's is too ❤️

HerselfIndoors · 25/12/2020 11:19

Yes. Always stay at home so no difference there. Kids got me presents I really love, and they liked theirs too and are actually getting on with each other as well. We'll go round to ex's for lunch so I don't have to cook. House is a tip and I was woken up at 6am, even though they are not little kids! But that's Christmas day for you. We have cake, coffee, chocolate and we're warm and cosy. I'm done with having christmas with dysfunctional family members - this is how I like it. But I am sorry for those who love and miss families they can't see.

Foghead · 25/12/2020 11:22

All fine here. Dh has made me coffee and toast and prepping some food.
Older dc still in bed, younger watching a film.
We’re not eating till around 5 so I’m thinking of going back to bed to read for a couple of hours.

bigbluebus · 25/12/2020 11:22

Lovely relaxing morning here. Just me, DH & adult DS. Lots more pressies to open than usual as everyone has posted them this year instead of us getting them in dribs and drabs through December and January. We've just cracked open the fizz. Christmas music is playing. Dinner will go on shortly and as it's a crisp sunny day we'll have a walk after we've eaten. What's not to love.

VeryLittleOwl · 25/12/2020 11:24

Just back in from walking the dogs on an empty beach and we picked up an Indian takeaway yesterday for our Christmas lunch, so all I have to do is heat things through.

Furries · 25/12/2020 11:26

A “yes” here too! Only got up an hour ago. The sun is shining here. Picking mum up in around an hour - only about 10 minutes away, so no long drive to contend with. Will be FaceTiming with my sister and BIL early afternoon and Christmas meal will be around 5pm.

We all agreed no presents this year, as money has been tight for all of us - so no stress in the lead-up. I made presents for my two closest friends - had to pay for the materials and then took around 2months to make them, but they’re both over the moon which has made me feel warm and fuzzy.

Going to crack open the bubbles once mum is settled on the sofa. It’s been a totally shit year, but we’ll make the most of it today.

Merry Christmas all 🎅🏼

1happyhippie · 25/12/2020 11:26

Mines pretty peaceful.
Dds got up at 6am. Opened everything, really happy with their things.
Now dd1 is back in bed and dd2 is in her room watching her new tv.
I’m sitting downstairs with the dog working out timings for our lunch.
Very relaxed so far

ancientgran · 25/12/2020 11:27

I'm having a lovely day. We had a lit in. GC phoned (well I suppose their dad did but they did talk) told me all about their presents and thanked me for mine. Then talked to son, DIL shouting Happy Christmas from the kitchen. We've had chocolate for breakfast because that was what we fancied, naughty I know but it's Christmas.

Turkey is in the oven, veg all done. I bought the latest Ian Rankin book when it came out so I will be reading it later. We didn't do presents for each other but have a pile from family so will open them soon.

Very chilled, very calm, loving it.

ancientgran · 25/12/2020 11:27

We had a lie in not a lit in, whatever that is.

isseys4xmastinselcats · 25/12/2020 11:27

great so far opened our presents to each other, croissants and smoked bacon for brekkie, turkey crown is in the oven, prawn cocktail starters ready to go , veg peeled yesterday, PIBs and stuffing trayed just a case now of timing everything, mind you just OH and i till 3pm will get chaotic when the kids arrive

WilsonMilson · 25/12/2020 11:28

@TestingTestingWonTooFree thanks. I’m being silly really. First Christmas without my family because of stupid bloody Covid, also (and this is a really first world problem) but DH got all the wrong presents for me and I feel like he doesn’t even know who I am - completely irrational, he really did mean the best but I feel so let down.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 25/12/2020 11:29

Yep. It's lovely. There's just me (first time in 53 years). If I don't have a great day, then there's only me to blame Smile

Wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and a simply awesome new year (it's gonna be), wherever you are and whatever you're doing.

Lots of love, S xxx

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 25/12/2020 11:29

I’ve thrown out my back. DH isn’t a big fan of Christmas and DS is stroppy teen aged.

I’m going to hide in the bathroom with a bottle of port I think...

Londontown12 · 25/12/2020 11:30

I’m having a lovely peaceful day with my hubbi and 2 children grown up ones that live here !
Woke up little later than usual we have had bacon butties and we are relaxing it makes a lovely change having a quiet one ! I feel quiet content
Hope everyone else is having a lovely day x

CandidaAlbicans2 · 25/12/2020 11:31

So far so good. I'm on my own as usual (through choice, I did have 2 invites which was sweet) and am just eating my special Xmas breakfast of scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. No presents to open but I'm not bothered. Might have a walk later or might just veg out with MN or TV. I can do whatever I like which is bliss Xmas Smile

actiongirl1978 · 25/12/2020 11:33

Awesome. Presents all done by 6.30, dog walk on the cold frosty fields, shower, champagne breakfast and now about to play a game with DH as DC are happy with their stuff. Fillet beef for lunch.

We are very lucky.

Dementedswan · 25/12/2020 11:33

Lovely chilled day so far. Dc came and got us up and 4am so it feels like tea time now Grin everyone is happy with their presents. Nice walk shortly and home to just do whatever for the rest of the day.

Livpool · 25/12/2020 11:38

I am having a great time - turkey almost done and then beef joint for DS going in. DPs and PIL coming for 2.

I was sick last year so this has been great and DS is so excited. Not up til 8 too

Brighterthansunflowers · 25/12/2020 11:38

I think most people having a good time aren’t making threads about it because nobody’s being unreasonable. Which is nice, at Christmas.

I’m having a nice chilled day, got some lovely presents and just starting to do the dinner. I’ve gone for lazy options so the prep really is just salting my pork roast for 30 minutes according to the instructions and preheating the oven. Then it’s just a case of timings and bunging things in the oven. About to put a Christmas movie on and I’ll speak to both parents later today,

Roominmyhouse · 25/12/2020 11:38

Just me and DH. Got up at 9 and opened presents and had breakfast. Now showered and on the sofa with the cats watching Christmas films and tv. Will FaceTime my family later and looking forward to the fancy organic turkey I bought later! All good here.

harriethoyle · 25/12/2020 11:39

An amazing day! Still on a high from our wedding two days ago, picking the kids up in ten minutes, chilled fizz waiting to be opened and all the food incoming. Merry Christmas OP!
