Maybe people just don't post when things are going well, but the top 5 threads in my feed seem to be about a ruined Christmas, a fucked Christmas, a Christmas in tatters, someone who is fuming and someone else who didn't get to see her children open their stockings.

OP posts:

Happy Christmas everyone, I’m having a lovely day so far had call from youngest son aged 31 told me on a zoom call him and his partner are pregnant! So our first grandchild we’ve had glass of bubbly and a slow dance to Michael buble oh happy days.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 25/12/2020 10:55

Yea it's been good so far: negative Covid test result this morning, dh getting dinner started, kids playing together on their Switch without much arguing yet and we're all happy with our gifts.

bobbythejobby · 25/12/2020 10:56

Sort of having a nice morning so far...although DH is still in bed and the budgie is giving me shifty looks for accidentally scaring the shit out of her with a blackberry-shaped sponge that came in a Radox set from DH's sister.

Sober4Summer20 · 25/12/2020 10:58

Yep having a lovely day. Woken up at 6am by two very excited little people. Stockings, pancakes and teacakes for breakfast then a play outside on scooters. More gifts then the kids are playing with lego and hamma beads while we get a buffet lunch ready. Very chilled xx

Nowstrong · 25/12/2020 10:58

Mine is so, so....
Just hoping that my 2 daughters don't have "words" if they have had a drink or 2. Crossing fingers that all will go smoothly. Happy Xmas to all. Stay safe.

Username642243 · 25/12/2020 10:59

Yes lovely! Kids made their own christingles last night and sang carols round the piano, followed by my 7 year old reading night before Christmas. Early start but a nice hot bath took the edge off. Kids thrilled with presents. Had a feast for breakfast where the kids chose smoked salmon, Spinach and sourdough (along with chocolate obviously). Playing with their new toys now whilst Dh tidies up and starts lunch. I'm on the sofa with a book. We're very lucky x

Purplethrow · 25/12/2020 10:59

Just 3 of us today, we’ve opened our presents and are all really happy with what we’ve received. I don’t normally drink but have had a Sex on the Beach and a Baileys coffee so feel all fuzzy round the edges, dinner should be interesting Grin

MsSquiz · 25/12/2020 11:00

We are!
DD was only 1 week old last Christmas so we've been up since 6am opening presents, playing with new toys, DD had a decent nap while I sorted the roasties to take round to SIL's for lunch while she cooks everything else for 14 people (delivering some to family)

MutteringDarkly · 25/12/2020 11:00

Yes, we are. DD is happily hunting Pokemon on her new switch, I'm colouring my hair as I've been meaning to do it for 3 weeks but it's been stupidly busy. Later we'll have our favourite foods for lunch (no turkey or roast anything). We'll go for a walk, and have outdoor present opening with family. Gorgeous sunny day here so if we wrap up it should be lovely.

Thanks for starting a positive thread Smile

Baconking · 25/12/2020 11:00

Yes.

A lovely morning so far. Xmas Smile

Sirzy · 25/12/2020 11:00

I am chilled morning, graveyard visits and now back home to open more presents and enjoy a roast later

midnightstar66 · 25/12/2020 11:01

I didn't get to see my dc open their stockings as they wandered in to me at 1:30 AM!!!!! Having already opened them, and asking if they could open the main presents. Then they were back up again before 6. I'm a little more tired than I'd hoped as a result but still having a lovely day.

gabsdot45 · 25/12/2020 11:02

We're having a nice day. Up at 7 30 with DH and teens. Lovely pressies. Everyone is happy. Back to bed for nookie and a nap. I'm just up and dressed now and ready for breakfast. I'll make dinner later for family and Inlaws. Then movies and games this evening.
Happy Christmas everyone

Butchyrestingface · 25/12/2020 11:02

Great so far. Not married and no kids. Spending the day at home with just me and the DPs (Dear Parrots).

Have only just got up and now sitting on the couch drinking tea and stuffing my face with crisps. Got my Christmas Day viewing/reading all worked out and booked a digital panto for tomorrow. Xmas Grin

PawPawNoodle · 25/12/2020 11:03

My first time cooking a full Christmas Dinner today but I'm having a fab time thus far, turkey was brined overnight and has just been seasoned and baconed ready to go in, about to get myself washed and dressed and drink champagne while I wait for my grandad to get here (support bubble coming from half a mile away) before we do presents. It's different but it'll be a great day.

LEELULUMPKIN · 25/12/2020 11:04

We are! Just poured DH and I our first drink of the day whilst he preps the veg.

I'm just about to go up and get DS15 changed and dressed (he has SLD) whilst "Father Christmas" DH arranges his prezzies.

He has never ever bothered with Christmas but this year it is as if a magic light has been switched on and he suddenly "gets it".

All the years I have sat crying feeling sorry for myself have evaporated over night and we cannot wait to see him open his stuff!

Merry Christmas everyone x

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 25/12/2020 11:05

Thank you for a positive thread!
We're having a great time here.
2 preenage dcs woke us at 7.30am after opening their stockings together and having a snuggle in dd's bed.
They loved everything they got, dd 12 cried at a couple of hers she was so happy!
Then had bacon butties and dh washed up and prepped the veg for dinner.
The kids have just gone for a walk together, dh is playing on his xbox and I'm having a bath with one of the lovely bath bombs I received. I got some really thoughtful presents too.
Adult dd text earlier and will zoom with grandchild when she has time.
Tonight we're going to see a friend at their house for a few drinks.
It's shaping up to be a really good day.
Happy Christmas! X

Bellaphant · 25/12/2020 11:06

Having a lovely but very different day. Just me, dh and 17month old Ds. Having another friend who's Xmas plans got cancelled round for lunch in a bit (am going to get stressed cooking). Only wish I could have a drink but 9 weeks pregnant!

BedofRoses88 · 25/12/2020 11:06

I'm in the Canaries with my family. Just gone down a waterslide! Love Christmas in the sun and dinner being cooked for me.

Atalune · 25/12/2020 11:07

I didn’t sleep so great so I am feeling a bit poop. However kids are being delightful and have loved their presents so far.

Just had a morning dog walk with our puppy followed by a lovely hot tub and a glass of champagne. We wait to open more presents when grandparents arrive.

We have prepped the fire pit and going to have a good day in/out of the house. We are t2 about to move into T3, so want to be careful.

MistletoeandGin · 25/12/2020 11:07

Yes lovely Smile. Been up since 5am after getting to bed at 1am but don’t expect much else with a 7, 5 and 2 year old!
All happy, having a lovely morning.

Thehop · 25/12/2020 11:08

Really lovely here, OP.

Teaandscone · 25/12/2020 11:09

Very pleasant and peaceful here too! Just my mother here with me and she is now pottering about after tea and toasted tea cakes.

allthewaterinthetap · 25/12/2020 11:12

We're fine. The sun is out (non uk), son happy and will talk to family later.

MrsGulDukat · 25/12/2020 11:12

Just another day for me.

DD has opened her presents and disappeared back to her room.

Cant be arsed to get dinner started and I dont think DD is bothered either.

Might just go back to bed.
