Where are all the mumsnetters who:

  • are mid-millennial
  • Extremely Online
  • left wing
  • probs on Twitter
  • do not think gaming is the scourge of society and causes you to turn into a zombie
  • does not know anyone who unironically plays golf

Bonus points for ex-emo kids.

Do you exist?

I’m a millennial and left-wing but not extremely online - I used to have Twitter as a student and as a teen I used another forum very heavily but now I generally try to avoid social media and other internet cesspits - MN excepted Wink I wouldn’t admit to being on MN to people IRL but as I don’t have children yet I guess that is the main reason people would find it weird.

PizzaForOne · 23/12/2020 15:06

I'm one of these but not on tw*tter.

Love my avocado on toast and paying 4 times as much for my house that is similar to the one my grandparents bought 20 years ago.

@Nerve I dip in sometimes but it’s not the same! I miss my old guild, and role playing! Seems like it’s all trading pets these days. Plus the site is painfully slow sometimes

KilljoysDutch · 23/12/2020 15:11

Gods sake OP you've broken the cardinal rule of mumsnet, you've outed yourself as not being one of them! Don't you know on Mumsnet all of us have the same principles and God help you if you don't because they will tear you apart. You'll be a cool girl or a man pleaser or just a try hard and so unfunny unlike the 5 million stupid parking threads that make everyone spit their coffee and wake sleeping babies while posters scream for the thread to go directly to classics.

SuperbGorgonzola · 23/12/2020 15:12

I'm mid millennial.

I've deleted Twitter because of the arguments

I think gaming is a legitimate form of entertainment for adults if they like it.

I wouldn't consider myself "extremely online" based on that Wikipedia page.

I would class myself as centre left, and I don't buy into the idea that people who are more right leaning are the scum of the Earth.

I liked the emo music but I didn't have the hair or wear the clothes.

Vom. Bonus points if the bottoms are all freyed and grey from getting wet.
I never wore those, but most of my friends did. They were always torn at the bottom from scraping along the ground.
ThePants999 · 23/12/2020 15:18

OP: "Is anyone else here like me?"
People not like the OP: "WTF is all this about? What a weird thread! Are you OK!?"

wtf

HalfBrick · 23/12/2020 15:37

In my head 90% of Mumsnet is home counties, owns a large house, kids at private school, mother's either a lawyer or SAHM, father's a banker type. Both aged about 50. They shop at Waitrose, they 'entertain', they have 'strapping 6 foot teenage boys' who row and are going to an RG uni (I had to look that up), they came from wealthyish backgrounds, think Allsop, the Middletons kind of thing.

In reality, there are loads of types, people like me, the complete opposite. Regional, working class, average kids, average jobs, uses Twitter, tech savvy but common Grin.

squeekums · 23/12/2020 15:42

Emo killed my style
I dressed like that before it became a bloody trend. Granted, was easiest and cheapest time ive ever had to buy clothes i liked

But i live and make money online yet dont use fb, twitter, any of that crap, just dont like it
Fairly left, just not jump down peoples throats over it or disown people cos they dont agree
Born late 80s
Purple hair, labret, tongue and belly pierced
Love video games, no set screen time crap here

So im kinda like you but i dare say much lazier in my approach lol

Ive got similar ones but they covered in reflector tape from my rave days
user1471565182 · 23/12/2020 15:45

HA yes Medusa I had a rave period, there was always one girl at every rave who had huuuuuuuuge bell bottom jeans with platforms on

user1471565182 · 23/12/2020 15:46

oh sorry i mean squeekums

Nowaynothappening · 23/12/2020 15:49

I didn’t like emos very much and thought their music was shit. I had a green fringe, black backcombed hair, lots of piercings and wore a leather studded jacket and doc martens to school. I am an early millennial I think rather than mid, I am left wing but I’m shifting more towards the centre the older I get. I’m not really into the whole non binary thing.

Nowaynothappening · 23/12/2020 15:49

Oh and I don’t play games. My DC do but I’ve never really been into them.

Globe skate sneakers much easier to dance in though lol

Platforms, well tried it once and almost snapped an ankle, now im not sure if it was down to the shoes themselves or the candy flip i was on........

Requinblanc · 23/12/2020 16:01

Do you actually get a reward for cramming as much meaningless jargon in one post?

Sickofbroccoli · 23/12/2020 16:02

I’m on the cusp of being too old to be a millennial but I fit most of the other categories fairly well.

I think golf is regional rather than generational though, in the city I went to uni in every fucker seemed to play golf whereas where I grew up nobody did.

exPR · 23/12/2020 16:19

Love this thread @whoamongstus! I’m right on the line of end of Gen X and elder millennial. The only thing I don’t meet on your list is the gamer culture. Having a nice wander through memory lane this afternoon!

I would be mortified if anyone knew I posted here. Because for every interesting, supportive or positive thread and poster there are many more from women who not only think anyone who doesn’t live exactly as they demand needs to be put in their place with passive agressive condescension but seem to actively despise or resent other women as a group rather than having an issue with individual posters.

That doesn’t reflect the way women I know in real life, of many ages and backgrounds, relate to each other at all.

Maybe when we are all run off here with tasteful pitchforks we can regroup on LiveJournal?!

Elder millennial 🙋🏻‍♀️ very left wing, extremely online, love Twitter (came to mumsnet because of mumsnet madness on Twitter and loved it here 😂), too scared to game because I know I'd get addicted and I'm easily enough distracted as it is 😃 only person I know who actually has a mumsnet account

user1471565182 · 23/12/2020 16:50

Yeah more realistic to say its full of bullshitters on here with their parisian hotel bedrooms.

user1471565182 · 23/12/2020 16:51

Whats an RG university?
