Where are all the mumsnetters who:

  • are mid-millennial
  • Extremely Online
  • left wing
  • probs on Twitter
  • do not think gaming is the scourge of society and causes you to turn into a zombie
  • does not know anyone who unironically plays golf

Bonus points for ex-emo kids.

Do you exist?

Hell-thefuck-O YANBU. Never admit my mumsnet usage to my rl friends cos of the terrible t*rfy reputation.

DimidDavilby · 22/12/2020 22:24

@AaronBurrSirr what board books you got? We just discovered anti-racist baby which has become an instant favourite.

I wasn't aware there was an age element to the concept of pearl clutching

Think about it.

What stereotype wears pearl necklaces?

Fair enough. I assumed the stereotype was more 'Little England', well to do, horrified at everything, as opposed to older women - not my intention to be ageist at all. Shall pivot to using the term 'recreationally disapproving', as that seems to suit the type of poster I'm talking about!

I'm 1987 and never got on board with the limp emo scene although I did like bright eyes. I continued with Korn and slipknot and their heirs!

I'm glad I was a young woman in less pressureful times.

user1471565182 · 23/12/2020 13:02

Yeah I hated bloody emo. Couldnt stand it. Born in 89.

user1471565182 · 23/12/2020 13:04

Does anybody remember those fucking awful insanely wide, pale blue jeans with elasticated waist moshers wore around 2002 with wallet chains? preferably set off with a vomit inducing flame pattern shirt

user1471565182 · 23/12/2020 13:17

Benefit bashing isnt left wing? left wing ideology includes promotion of welfare and state safety nets?

That's what I thought. But I was worried I was wrong and would look stupid Blush
ThatIsNotMyUsername · 23/12/2020 13:21

What’s wrong with golf?

aLilNonnyMouse · 23/12/2020 13:23

I was more a mosher than an emo, but I did like all the emo music!

SeasonFinale · 23/12/2020 13:30

Who was that comedy character who used to say "I am right on, me"? Is that who you base yourself on?

I don't remember those, I'm on about the punkyfish type ones with normal jean type waists and MASSIVE lower legs with enormous pockets in the calves.
OldLang · 23/12/2020 13:48

riotlady · 23/12/2020 13:58

Hallo! Yes, this is me. I wasn’t exactly emo so much as goth-lite, I wore a lot of long black skirts and pentacles and listened to Evanescence and Within Temptation. Spent the majority of my formative years on Neopets.

Nerve · 23/12/2020 14:08

I still play neopets Blush

AaronBurrSirr · 23/12/2020 14:09

@DimidDavilby we have Feminist Baby by Loryn Brantz and An ABC of Equality by Chana Ginelle Ewing.

Would recommend The Story Of (Rap/Punk/Pop etc) series too - great fun!

ColourMeExhausted · 23/12/2020 14:12

Much prefer the 90s teenager threads, sorry Grin gen x but just a year separates me from being a millennial. Much rather be Gen X. Will step away and find my people elsewhere (interesting thread though OP, lots of responses and now I know what 'extremely online' means!(

user1471565182 · 23/12/2020 14:30

Vom. Bonus points if the bottoms are all freyed and grey from getting wet.

sbhydrogen · 23/12/2020 14:39

✅ are mid-millennial
✅ Extremely Online
⚠️ left wing (a little bit, but mostly centre)
✅ probs on Twitter
⚠️ do not think gaming is the scourge of society and causes you to turn into a zombie (everything in moderation)
❌ does not know anyone who unironically plays golf
✅ Bonus points for ex-emo kids

I guess I got most of your criteria

sbhydrogen · 23/12/2020 14:39

I guess I fit*

Tofu35 · 23/12/2020 14:54

@user1471565182 oh the frayed bottoms of those jeans 😂 why ever were they allowed to be worn in rainy weather. Constantly soaking!
