Embarrassing accidental things on Facebook/Instagram!

What’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve managed to do on Facebook/Instagram? I’m talking accidentally liking someone’s photo from 2010, adding someone by accident, sharing someone’s photo etc? These always crack me up.

Made me think as today I accidentally watched the Instagram story of a man I dated for a while several years ago and haven’t spoken to since (I am happy with DP now!) - he came up as someone I might know and I clicked on his page to be nosy. I didn’t realise that if you click on the person’s profile it shows you their most recent story?! I’m cringing as it will show him I’ve watched it - I don’t even follow him!!

Oh well - there are worse things I am sure!! Blush

Will it really notify him you watched it ?
I didn't think that was the case .

Yes - if you post a story it shows you your ‘viewers’ and I’ve had it before where people who don’t even follow me have watched my story (maybe the same happened to them!)

It shows you who has viewed your stories. A while back it showed that an ex had viewed mine. We don’t follow each other and are not in contact.
TrialOfStyle · 22/12/2020 15:50

I didn't think about the fact that people can see you've 'watched' their stories - so I did the same as you. Very recently I was snooping on an old FWB's insta (we do not 'follow' each other) and clicked the story without thinking.

In the grand scheme of things it's not that bad, but I hate him to think I'm thinking about him so far down the line (he really was just a passing - oh, I wonder what FWB is doing these days).

Same!! It was a FWB situation really - we weren’t serious but it didn’t end that well so I am just cringing that he knows I even clicked on it!

I need to get a life Grin

That said, I once had the same where an ex had looked at mine - we hadn’t spoken in years. I found it quite funny but I presumed it was probably a mistake!

For future reference - if someone’s photo shows a red/orange ring around it, it means there’s a recent story it will show you Blush

I was once Facebook stalking a guy I fancied at school (which was a good 10 years ago at this point.) Before I go further I cannot stress enough that we didn't know each other well at all and weren't even Facebook friends.

I found myself on the event page for his birthday which was some 'lads lads lads' affair and somehow, inexplicably, managed to click 'decline event!'

Presumably he got a notification to say that a girl he vaguely knew 10 years ago who was not invited to his birthday party, would not be going BlushBlush

Still makes me cringe/laugh to this day!

My friend somehow managed to make his banner photo on fb a screenshot he had taken of his ex status saying how tired she was and that she was going home for a bubble bath 😂

He didn't notice for ages.

I read somewhere that if you now block him, he won't then be able to see that you've viewed it. Might not be true, and he might have already seen by now, but worth a shot!

DriftGames · 22/12/2020 16:11

He might not even check - can't remember the last time I looked at who viewed my stories!

Gardeniaofdelights · 22/12/2020 16:22

Years ago I was having a nosy at my boyfriend‘s ex girlfriend’s Facebook page. Got distracted and then posted what I thought was a Facebook status about him, but which was actually a post on her wall. Deleted it very quickly but the memory still haunts me Blush

Snowsx · 22/12/2020 16:35

Mine was trying to search for my DHs ex on Facebook and hadn't realised I was posting her fucking name over and over as my status thinking the search bit wasn't loading Blush DH told me the next day loooool

Someone put a picture of their daughter up who had the shortest fringe possible , it was like a sticky out stump, she was about 6.

I commented isn't she cute and they all go through a stage of cutting their own fringe , love it 😂😂.

As soon as I pressed the button I realised mum had deliberately had it cut that short 😫.

Oops too late. Lol

ChristmasSomething · 22/12/2020 16:45

I once got very drunk when out with a friend (I’m obviously very classy) and thought it was a really good idea to put a photo of my naked arse up for all to see.
I then forgot about it and a few days later I had lots of comments including from my boss... Blush

TigerDrawers · 22/12/2020 16:52

Not me but a friend of mine was facebook stalking her son's new girlfriend and accidentally managed to "like" one of her photos without realising.

Cue DS saying "GF is pleased you like her photo" - luckily they thought it was hilarious but she did want the ground to open up and swallow her at that point! Many years later GF is a serious GF and her and my friend get on like a house on fire, thankfully!

I tagged myself in a photo of my ex boyfriend with his new girlfriend on his Facebook page! I immediately left all social media as I'm obviously a moron!

@Snowsx, I’ve seen this many times of FB. My condolences GrinGrinWinkWink

Beautifulbonnie · 22/12/2020 17:05

Ha. I wasn’t snooping. But found on Facebook many years ago (not on either now) that a lady I was selling too was an old boyfriends new wife! I didn’t even know and it was only because I was snooping her page that I saw him. I ended up liking a post I was snooping on. For Shame!

Snowsx · 22/12/2020 17:05

@CuppaZa ohhhh the shame haha Wine
