Embarrassing accidental things on Facebook/Instagram!

What’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve managed to do on Facebook/Instagram? I’m talking accidentally liking someone’s photo from 2010, adding someone by accident, sharing someone’s photo etc? These always crack me up.

Made me think as today I accidentally watched the Instagram story of a man I dated for a while several years ago and haven’t spoken to since (I am happy with DP now!) - he came up as someone I might know and I clicked on his page to be nosy. I didn’t realise that if you click on the person’s profile it shows you their most recent story?! I’m cringing as it will show him I’ve watched it - I don’t even follow him!!

Oh well - there are worse things I am sure!! Blush

I started dating a guy i met online, we'd been talking for two weeks and had been on one date, one evening he text and asked who is 'my mums name' so I replied and said thats my mum why? He said she's just added me as a friend on facebook 🤦‍♀️ she'd been stalking him and did it by accident

HermannlovesPauline · 22/12/2020 17:20

Someone I know was drunkenly stalking an ex but was confused because she could find him despite typing his name in the search bar many times.

When she woke up the next day she realised with horror that she’d typed his name into her status many many times! Shock

whatsoccuringnow · 22/12/2020 17:23

Someone I know accidentally friend requested her husband's ex wife. I am not on social media anymore, it's just too easy to stalk people who you would die of embarrassment if they found out.

CodewordIsRochambeau · 22/12/2020 17:30

@hopewardrobe

I tagged myself in a photo of my ex boyfriend with his new girlfriend on his Facebook page! I immediately left all social media as I'm obviously a moron!
HOWLING 😂

Someone i used to work with once posted some wild photos of her hen night out as it was happening. She literally had her pants round her ankles with everything on show in the middle of the High Street. She had her initial shaved into her pubes!!! They were probably taken down about 15 minutes later.Every time I see her I think of those photo and want to ask her whether she always has her initial shaved in or it was a one off.

DrWankincense · 22/12/2020 17:46

Mine is not quite so embarrassing just random.
I fell asleep on my phone and ended up friending a mum from school. Her kid is not the same age or friends with any of my children. I don't even know ow who she is other than an elf at one school fair.
Not sure why she accepted but now I'm too scared to unfriend as she seems like a bit fierce 🙈🤣

LivingInCheckedMidis · 22/12/2020 18:26

@Snowsx I am absolutely dying at that. Thank you for cheering me up!!

PeppermintSoda · 22/12/2020 18:32

Someone posted a photo of them with their dh. The dh was a fair bit older with grey hair. Someone posted. "Aww that's a lovely photo of your dad!" The dh came on and posted "Her dad eh?" or some such.

I shouldn't be allowed on social media.

Looked up a boyfriend's ex out of nosiness and ended up "liking" a pic of her from like three years before. We had never met so I had no reason to be on her insta. In my (tenuous) defence the boyfriend was a bit of an arse about her, he liked to try to make me jealous so I wanted to see what I had to compete with. Backfired on both of us because she was a stunner and seemed funny and clever as well so I felt incredibly insecure and we ended up splitting up (not solely because of that but it didn't help!)

Years before that when FB brought in "lists" so certain friends could see everything on your profile, others could only see certain photos etc, I thought this would be a great idea as I had a few friends from online parenting groups I didn't know very well. Except I ended up adding them to a group instead, so they were all notified that I'd added them to a group called "personas non gratas". I apologised profusely and explained that I didn't mean people I didn't like, just that I didn't know well. They then showed their true colours by insulting me (saying I dressed like a 10 year old was one of the comments I remember) so in the end it wasn't much of a loss!

Rose789 · 22/12/2020 18:48

I wished a friends little brother a happy 21st birthday. Didn’t realise I was still on his page and updated my status. But it wasn’t my status it was a random post on his wall in amongst all the cheery birthday wishes. Saying how I hadn’t slept in days because dd1 was teething and what the fuck could I do to help.
21 year old single man then responded with a really nice message being very sympathetic but suggesting he wasn’t the best person to ask. Then proceeded to tag people like his mum and aunty who might be able to help.
Mortified

I accidentally posted a picture of my weight at 17 stone and didn't realise and so it was on insta for hours

Could have died

justsayso · 22/12/2020 18:52

Once I took a picture of myself in the buff as I was feeling cute. For no reason I could possibly explain then or now, I posted it to Facebook. I must have done it accidentally, I would never, ever share images like this with anyone except my SO. How I did it, I still don't understand. It was only when I got notification through from a friend saying 'oh my god justsayso' that I saw what horror I had created and deleted the pic immediately.
I still worry about who might have screenshotted it. I did look damn good though.

wizzbangfizz · 22/12/2020 19:08

There was a story on here ages ago from a woman whose mum was a dog sitter. One morning the mum awoke with a terrible cold and had to tell the elderly judge whose dogs she was supposed to be looking after that she was not well enough to work that day. She managed to message him from her bed but somehow attached a photo of herself looking rough, snotty and bedraggled in bed, with her tits out. He replied politely with, “yes you do look rather unwell”.

Wish I could find the original post!

Peanutbutterblood · 22/12/2020 19:29

My friends bf was cheating on her, I looked the girl up on insta, was very careful not to press anything. A couple of weeks later I was going to search something and she was in my search list, I meant to delete her from it but accidentally pressed on her little circle which actually brought up her story. I was like "shit she will have seen I've watched it" even though I clicked straight off it. Anyway I just put my phone down in fright and left it.

A week later I managed to do exactly the same thing again 🙈 I was mortified. Her profile is now private, i hope she doesn't think i was stalking her because i only meant to look at her page the one time with my friend

Ekdkso999 · 22/12/2020 19:32

My best friend had a rather snobby partner for a few years. I knew him fairly well as I worked with him. I got a notification one day that he'd liked a Facebook photo of mine from several years ago. It was obviously accidental as it was a completely random picture to like. It always made me a little smug knowing he'd obviously been in deep stalker mode that day Grin

Had just started uni, in quite shy and awkward anyway but everyone on our (small) course had added each other on Facebook. My local football team had shared a picture of the crowd at a match and I still don’t really know how it happened but I managed to ‘tag’ one of my new uni friends as a hugely obese man in the crowd. I was absolutely mortified and couldn’t work out how to delete it, I actually rang my boyfriend in tears to help me as I was so upset 😂
