so...
I had received a text from my Doctors on Friday which I missed.
I'd spend the weekend thinking that either I was going to have to self-isolate or that my biopsy results were not clear after all...

Turns out they want me to pop in for my HRT review and a blood pressure check. The HRT is fabulous. The blood pressure is normal.

The only problem is that the receptionist and I didn't really want to get off the phone as we were enjoying our lovely normal chat. I told her to keep fighting the good fight.

I ordered trousers online, massive turn ups. I ordered a size down from what I normally get then regretted it thinking they’d be too short and narrow (31” leg where normally I need 34”). They're the perfect fit, I’m delighted!

Third time was the charm and finally managed to get ground ginger in the weekly online shop so I’ll be baking gingerbread men with the smalls tomorrow while waiting for littlest to get her swab results from this morning. She’s developed a new cough overnight so have everything crossed it’s not covid and we are not about to make a mess of her entire classes Christmas plans 🤞🏻

My shrimp is pregnant! I am really happy for her and looking forward to little shrimplets in 30 days or so Smile

sueelleker · 22/12/2020 16:46

Just had a phone call from the vet; the small growth that one of my dogs had removed from his foot last week is benign! Very relieved.

We're having our annual festive meal in memory of our lovely friend who used to come for a meal on the 22nd of Dec laden with gifts. So each year we cook her favourite meal & raise a glass in her memory.

Not small at all but DS2(autistic) has just been offered a job!

Chimeraforce · 22/12/2020 18:21

I ate Ferrero rocher and my partner, who is now finished for Christmas, made me egg and bacon French whilst I wfh. 👍

Madbengalmum · 22/12/2020 18:22

I received a beautiful flowercard, filled with fresh roses/ holly/ cinnamon sticks from one of my patients, thanking me for keeping her on her feet! It was such a lovely surprise, made my day.

Oooohbehave · 22/12/2020 18:27

I met a crazy rescue staffy (I have to enter peoples homes for work). He ate my shoe cover which had to be wrestled from his mouth by the owner. He nearly knocked me down the stairs twice and then he shagged my leg! Luckily I love dogs and this one really made me laugh.

christmasathomeagain · 22/12/2020 18:35

My husband took an extra days annual leave so he finished today rather than tomorrow. It will be nice to be able to enjoy tomorrow rather than avoid the kitchen where he works.

My gorgeous younger grandson learned to ride his bike today, DS and my older amazing grandson did a 30 km cycle ride. I am just such a doting Nonna 😊
My wonderful DIL sent me a beautiful birthday present to ‘lighten up the darkness’
Aren’t I so very lucky?

baubled · 23/12/2020 09:34

@Strawberrycreamsundae That's really lovely!

Whengodwasarabbit · 23/12/2020 09:48

I’m getting the Covid vaccine at 2.30 today.
Means I can help my parents out more without being terrified of passing anything on to them.
I’ve wrapped my dogs’ presents this morning complete with squeaky pigs, fluffy squirrels and chewy candy cane treats they will love them.

nosswith · 23/12/2020 10:39

No queue at Waitrose this morning!

anothermansmother · 23/12/2020 17:34

I delivered the foodbank parcels and Christmas gifts for my area. People were so grateful and it made me feel like I'd helped to do something to readdress the balance a bit of the rubbish people are going through. Especially with the bags of parcels for the kids.
I folded 3 baskets of washing and I've mopped the lounge floor, my house is warm and I have a full fridge. I'm very grateful for these things.

Gratefulrunner · 23/12/2020 18:00

@anothermansmother that’s really lovely
When I got up this morning the DCs gave me a lovely big cuddle as soon as I came downstairs.
I stocked up on delicious gin today.
I’ve made vegetable hot pot in the slow cooker with dumplings for dinner Smile

Justcashnosweets · 23/12/2020 18:04

I managed to get most of the presents wrapped this afternoon with the help of Dd7. (Not her gifts, they'll get wrapped tomorrow night) And she has been a delight all day. 🥰

zzizz · 23/12/2020 18:32

We've had a lovely cosy day off work today and made our traditional "early" Christmas lunch (which we always do a few days before the annual stressful spending-time-with-our-families days - even though this time we won't be spending as much time with either set).

Watched rubbish movies in bed, went for a long walk in the rain and just rested. And its not over yet! Grin

Onesailwait · 23/12/2020 18:46

We had snow on monday & it's still so cold our back yard is covered. I'm at work but my Dh just sent me some lovely pictures of the kids playing in it. I had a little cry with my mum via skype earlier because we should be home for Christmas. The pictures really cheered me up. Only 6hrs to go & I'm finished for the rest of the week.

Vargas · 23/12/2020 18:49

Two of my children bicker constantly, it normally ends with one of them storming off in a rage. Today I eavesdropped in utter astonishment as they had a long good-natured conversation about some Youtuber or something, and then both just stepped away happily to do something else. It was bliss.

And the sun shone briefly in the afternoon.

I am very intrigued by this. Are you talking about an actual shrimp? Like a prawn?
mrsmacmc · 23/12/2020 18:53

I got a hand written / addressed card & JL voucher from the boss boss in the post today. I'm sure everyone in the organisation did however I thought it was a really thoughtful gesture

elfycat · 23/12/2020 18:58

DH got home early. His train in Cornwall was cancelled so they put him on an earlier one (to be rid of excess people) then when he reached London he started to ask if there was any possibility of an earlier train and before he'd finished asking they'd amended his ticket to the next train leaving (to be rid of excess people). Apparently it was very quiet across London and on the trains. It's nice to have him home.

(He works at sea and today was change-over).

CosyAcorn · 23/12/2020 19:02

I laid the table all fancy tonight with a table cloth, table runner and napkin holders. It was just the three of us, and for no other reason than I thought it looked nice.

We had children and potatoes with asalad heaped with pomegranate seeds which DD thinks is a real treat- "ooh rubies!"

I feel like all my rushing around is done and I can just relax

LemonDrizzles · 23/12/2020 19:05

I finished painting with dc1 a papier mache super rato.
