Back story

When I met my now husband in 2013 I had a dark plum red hair colour ( will try to attach a pic ) around 2017 I dropped it to black then brown and now with the new year coming in feeling inspired to lose some weight and bring back that colour ..

I told him this morning over breakfast and he responded with ‘ you have had your time ‘ ... I’m 37.

Is there some kind of unsaid fashion rule regarding hair colours and age //.

As long as you like it, who cares what anyone else thinks. As for your husband, it's not his hair so not his decision. Does he comment similarly on your clothes or your makeup choices?

I had exactly the same thing when I reached 30. My mum told me I could no longer where any shade of pink because it was for young girls and I had also "had my time". 🤣

I have ginger hair and have always met resistance/the impossible factor from hairdressers when asking to colour it. You're not past and everyone should be able to have the colour they choose if possible.

God, I would so make him regret he said that.
Here are a few ideas to show him how young and vital you are:
Take up sky diving.
Take a lover.
Get drunk with your mates every night (virtually).
Dye your hair a different colour every month.
Have a tattoo.

And yes, I would rather have any colour than what mine has been my whole life. I don't particularly like blonde but would even have it that shade. My friend had that blue black colour in her 40's.
