William & Kate gone to Norfolk

If they did this after school ended in London did they do it after London had gone to tier 3?

OP posts:
treening · 20/12/2020 07:00

I could not give less of a shit about this.

JacobReesMogadishu · 20/12/2020 07:02

Is the queen in sandringham already or has she stayed in Windsor? I bet if she’s gone to Norfolk she hasn’t caught the train to kings lynn like she normally does.

Furries · 20/12/2020 07:07

@HeadNorth

They do what they want anyway - they took a train around the country for no good reason recently, the rules don't apply to them.
Ffs - you make it sound like they just fancied a jolly! That “no good reason” was all around thanking frontline/key workers.

This thread really highlights how snippy and bitter a lot of people are.

I’m going to have a very vague guess that they’re not going to be out and about licking lampposts etc in Norfolk, that they’ll be staying home and staying safe.

SecretSpAD · 20/12/2020 07:08

At least they won't be traipsing around the country, attending mass events without masks, or using keyworkers to stage ridiculous photo ops for the foreseeable future.

Yep. The best thing for the republican movement is for them to be invisible, forgotten and totally irrelevant. That way we might get more people thinking what the fuck do these people actually contribute to this society?

They will always do what they want regardless of what restrictions the rest of us live under. There will always be some people who will defend them whatever.

LockdownSanta · 20/12/2020 07:14

You aren't supposed to leave high category areas and go to your second home in the country, seaside, etc. That is how it spreads out to these communities. That goes for both commoners and royalty.

As usual, the rules are just for the plebs, not the rich and connected.

The queen isn't coming to Sandringham this year. Apparently this is so the staff at Sandringham house won't have to form a bubble away from their own families at Christmas. I am very local and was told this by someone who works there. I wonder deep down though if it's because Philip hasn't been very well and the queen doesn't want to risk him dying at Sandringham like her dad. William and Kate definitely been here longer than 16th december going by the extra security presence!
EdithWeston · 20/12/2020 07:24

They did it straight after their term ended at lunchtime on 11 December (there were even articles about it in the Royal watching websites)

London did not go into tier three until 15/12

yeOldeTrout · 20/12/2020 07:29

"It says on govt website that tier 4 people currently in another part of uk not in tier 4 have to go back when it’s practical to do so"

What is "practical"?
Does that recall include 100,000 students who live in London?

The students started being released from their courses at start December. Does govt really want them all to travel back?

But they haven't done this. London was Tier 2 when they left.

In Laaandahn and more particularly Surrey we have bizzareely gone from teir2 to teir 4 in the blink of an eye.

They went when we were teir 2, the rules allowed it and we were all planning a jolly christmas.

Surrey particularly has gone from 2 to 3 to 4 in 24 HOURS.....its bizzaire and ridiculous and decisions I was makig on Wednesday are now completely different today!

Laughnaff · 20/12/2020 07:32

Clymene

The timing of London moving into tier 3 was designed to impact those people whose children are not privately educated ie not our dear leader, his mates or the royals

Couldn’t agree more.

millymokk · 20/12/2020 07:34

Tbf I know some private schools in London that broke up on the 18th

HeadNorth · 20/12/2020 07:34

Ffs - you make it sound like they just fancied a jolly! That “no good reason” was all around thanking frontline/key workers.

That was not a good reason - the Scottish First Minister asked them to stay away as it wasnt worth the risk.

ImAncient · 20/12/2020 07:36

Same here Bake 2 to 3 to 4. We were in tier 2 when other areas had gone into tier 3. We followed pretty quickly. We’d provisionally booked in another tier 2 area for New Year’s Eve on Thursday. That’s how quickly things have changed here.

Needhelpwithaquestion · 20/12/2020 07:55

You sound quite jealous, they did nothing wrong and nothing that none of us wouldn’t do

Dishwashersaurous · 20/12/2020 08:00

Private schools broke up over a week ago- so they went then

UsedUpUsername · 20/12/2020 08:10

@cyclingmad

Its a moot point they will do whatever they like and zero consequences.
Basically this 😑
FreekStar · 20/12/2020 08:12

Going to Norfolk sounds reasonable to me- they probably went before London went into Tier 3 and when they're there it's not as if they'll be going to the supermarket, having meals in restaurants, joining the throngs in the shops for last minute gifts etc. They're hardly a risk to the folk of Norfolk! And as for them travelling round the country, it's allowed- it's called travelling for work!

AppleKatie · 20/12/2020 08:15

Look I’m angry about a lot of shit this morning Tier 4 for Christmas is an abomination for lots of reasons.

But this is a nonsense. They left when it was Tier 2 and perfectly within guidelines to do so. They will be holed up on a large estate not wandering around public parks and shopping centres coughing in the elderly. They also probably have access to weekly private Covid tests.

nosswith · 20/12/2020 08:16

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be the same as many if not most families in not seeing grandmothers at Christmas.

The Duke could help us all by asking his grandmother to dismiss the Prime Minister.

Livelovebehappy · 20/12/2020 08:18

If they are breaking the rules, and it sounds like they aren’t, they aren’t the only ones. If you look on social media there are so many people sticking two fingers up at the new Xmas rules already. There is anarchy rising, and I can’t see how the police are going to be able to control this without the situation horribly escalating.

Coffeeandcocopops · 20/12/2020 08:22

Anyone with money cleared off to their hotel, island, yacht etc weeks ago. Am I jealous - of course I am. The rich really don’t care about us workers.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 20/12/2020 08:23

Who wouldn't do that if they could. People are jealous it's very nasty

TonMoulin · 20/12/2020 08:24

@justgeton

I do t actually give much of a toss where they are ( just being pedantic I guess) but should they be going home now? Seeing as we're supposed to be following the rules of our main home.
Well they can’t now because you’re not allowed to go IN tier 4 anyway.

And tbh, I’d rather they stay put. The least people move around the better

Starting a thread to try and catch them out is beyond petty
