If they did this after school ended in London did they do it after London had gone to tier 3?

The Royal Family, who could potentially have scored some whopper PR wins this year, have once again got it spectacularly wrong. They are so tone deaf and I would love to see the back of them.

fallfallfall · 20/12/2020 01:35

Private schools finished a week ago. There are lot’s of people in Barbados, and the Maldives. That’s where the moneyed have gone. They went a week ago.

this
money certainly helps in every way during a pandemic

Who said I was talking about the cabinet @Didkdt?

Divebar · 20/12/2020 01:37

Would you want to be him? I wouldn’t .... it’s a gilded cage. This is an extraordinary petty thread - hoping that they went after it went Tier 3 so you could moan about it.

It makes no difference for them. They can do what they want, when they want.

He's got a posh granny.

jessstan1 · 20/12/2020 01:39

@MrsTerryPratchett

Since mere mortals don't have the means to fuck off to the country, they get to do things the rest of us don't all the time.

Now isn't any different. Make sure to bow and scrape at your betters.

They haven't broken any laws by going to Norfolk, they would also have driven up there quite quickly with no stopping. It strikes me as quite a safe thing to do with their children at the moment.
grassisjeweled · 20/12/2020 01:42

Are their kids in private?

^

Nah, they're at that primary in Tower Hamlets. You know which Kate and Wills we're talking about?

jessstan1 · 20/12/2020 01:55

It's only a little prep school.

Defenbaker · 20/12/2020 02:05

They do have a lot of privileges, but they are on public display a lot of the time, so I understand why they escape to their country retreat to be out of the public eye sometimes. They probably went several days ago, so haven't broken any rules, and anyway they won't have travelled on public transport, that's for sure.

William and Kate seem to be quietly getting on with their roles, in a no fuss, professional manner, so I don't begrudge them some time away from the spotlight.

FreeBettyBoop · 20/12/2020 02:09

Who. Cares.

I'd go with you on that, they're alright.

1forAll74 · 20/12/2020 02:38

Do you think that Kate and William. will have to make a last minute dash to Waitrose in Norfolk, to get a Turkey and some sprouts next week.!

MaryLeeOnHigh · 20/12/2020 02:40

@justgeton

I do t actually give much of a toss where they are ( just being pedantic I guess) but should they be going home now? Seeing as we're supposed to be following the rules of our main home.
Where do the rules say that? Tier 3 rules require unnecessary journeys to be avoided. I'd be surprised if thet require people to move unnecessarily from a lower tier area back into a tier 3 area purely for the sake of being in their "main homes".
SingANewSongChickenTikka · 20/12/2020 05:48

They’ve been up here at least a week based on the security presence. (I’m very local)

(They do shop in Waitrose, but I have it on good authority that they always manage to get a Christmas delivery slot)

Brainwave89 · 20/12/2020 05:57

Difficult for Royals who via their work do live in multiple residences. Kate and William have a significant residence here in Norfolk and for quite some time William flew the local air ambulance. I think it is fine for them to be here. But like us all not then to travel further.

mondaywine · 20/12/2020 06:11

Well considering they did a royal train tour a few weeks ago when we were being asked not to cross the border I guess they will do exactly what they want.

Cam77 · 20/12/2020 06:25

@Brainwave89
Slurp slurp slurp lol

BlackCatShadow · 20/12/2020 06:26

Well, I imagine they have staff who can do the shopping for them if they get stuck.

inquietant · 20/12/2020 06:27

@cyclingmad

Its a moot point they will do whatever they like and zero consequences.
Yes, this.

Yes they are.
BlackCatShadow · 20/12/2020 06:39

Well, I read that they were planning on spending Christmas at Kate's parents, but that has been nixed as they are in Tier 4, so they will have to spend Christmas at their home in Norfolk instead. So, that does seem like they are sticking by the rules. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Onceuponatimethen · 20/12/2020 06:57

I think they should come home shouldn’t they?

They usually live in tier 4 and it says on govt website that tier 4 people currently in another part of uk not in tier 4 have to go back when it’s practical to do so

Onceuponatimethen · 20/12/2020 06:59

No just looked again and weirdly it says you have to come back if you are now on holiday in a tier 4 area, but not if you are from tier 4 and staying elsewhere!

HeadNorth · 20/12/2020 07:00

They do what they want anyway - they took a train around the country for no good reason recently, the rules don't apply to them.

ThelmaNotLouise · 20/12/2020 07:00

They've been there for over a week already – she did a video chat for some charity from the garden there that was publicised in the week.
