The comments on social media are almost unanimously positive, lots of "good for him" "well done Tom" and "he's gone up in my estimation".

Any time I see something like this I imagine how the reaction would be if it was a story about a woman. If Nicole Kidman had done this I bet my bottom dollar she'd be branded a psycho, hysterical, over emotional, needs to calm down, who does she think she is speaking like that to those poor men etc.

FWIW I think he behaved appallingly if my boss screamed at me at work I'd have something to say about it.

But AIBU to think a woman would have been treated differently for doing the same thing?

Yanbu. Just watched a bit of the video of the sound guy and I had to stop watching, thought it looked like classic workplace bullying by Cruise and felt awful for the sound guy. There were many better ways to handle that than hurling abuse and shouting/swearing / threatening to fire someone for eating a doughnut. Also think it was really mean to release the video.

Looked to me like Tom is terrified of catching it (fair enough, must be worrying having to work with no mask etc) and lashing out at those less powerful around him.

A woman would never be celebrated for that behaviour I agree. Not sure why Cruise is, guess he has lots of mates in the media.

Well actually IRL I volunteer in a group for women who are CSA and domestic violence survivors. I've posted about this before. So I am channelling actual energy into good work.
