To ask something you’d love that you can’t ever have

Is there anything in this world you would love to do or have that just isn’t an achievable goal? You know when people say you can achieve anything if you set your mind to it? Well, the thing you can’t have either way.

Mine would be to adopt a child. I have all the love in my heart to give to adoptive children, I know I could love them just as my own and deal with the challenges unconditionally. Unfortunately I have a mental health diagnosis, two previous (malicious) reports to Social Services and a DP who doesn’t feel the same on the subject. I do have biological children but I will always dream of adopting.

Is there anything for you?

To have met my DP much younger so that we could have had a child together. He’s a brilliant step dad but I wish I could have given him one of his own.

Mummadeeze · 15/12/2020 07:22

I would like to find a way of extricating myself from my relationship with my narcissistic partner without enduring his wrath and without hurting our daughter. One day I would like to accept romantic love from someone kind, but am not sure If I am capable.

minmooch · 15/12/2020 07:24

To have just a moment with my eldest son who died nearly 7 years ago from cancer aged 18. Just to hold him again, tell him I love him, hear his voice.

formerbabe · 15/12/2020 07:27

I'd always wanted a house with an indoor swimming pool

Europilgrim · 15/12/2020 07:29

@glowingorb You just need to keep on at it. I had two children and worked during my PhD and thought every day about giving it up. But I got there eventually!

I know it's a superficial thing compared to yours OP but I would love a head full of thick glossy hair
Me too. I would hate to think how much time I have spent fretting about my hair. Always thin and now I have alopecia. Would love just to have it there!

formerbabe · 15/12/2020 07:29

@minmooch

Flowers

I posted my frivolous comment before I'd read yours.

I'm so sorry Flowers

For my dad to have not died so young so that he could have met my husband and my 2 children. People often comment how my eldest has a look of him. He would have loved them so much. Miss you dad x

Smaller feet. Size 9 is a PITA.

A shallow and frivolous wish is thicker hair. I used to have thick hair, but the menopause has put paid to that Sad

Lampzade · 15/12/2020 09:03

@minmooch- so sorry

wanderings · 15/12/2020 09:31

For Tony Blair and Boris Johnson to be in prison for the rest of their lives, where they belong.

(People get sent to prison for lying about who was driving a car, and "call me Tony" told us the absolute mother of all lies, something about weapons of mass destruction...)

Emeraldshamrock · 15/12/2020 09:39

To also be shallow and frivolous I'd love a housekeeper a nanny and thick hair.

JamesMoriarty · 15/12/2020 09:49

I would have loved 2+ children close in age and a big family house to raise them.

MrsBobDylan · 15/12/2020 10:17

I would like to travel for two weeks on the Orient Express, which could still happen and I'm hopeful one day I might be able to afford it.

So sorry @minmooch

yelyah22 · 15/12/2020 10:25

Either to have any willpower at all, or to be able to sing.

Carouselfish · 15/12/2020 10:30

To live in Montana. Last time I was there I knew it was too late and I'd never fit in /have time to learn to if I did manage to move there.

Remembering39862 · 15/12/2020 10:55

To go back in time and stop my friend from committing suicide.

Failing that, to tell him just how much he was loved and how much happiness he brought to the lives of others, and get to say a proper goodbye.

Flowers for everyone who has lost someone and/or is in pain of any kind.

Iwasonceabrownie · 15/12/2020 11:03

To be able to draw and paint. I can hardly draw a straight line with a ruler.

ChristmasUserName2020 · 15/12/2020 11:25

I want to have a child with my husband 😭 We both have children with ex partner’s but none together. He was my first love who I stupidly dumped when I was 18, we then got back together when I was 32. By then, he’d had the snip and I am now on 4 types of epilepsy meds, 2 of which are very new and there’s limited research into the effects on foetus’s. So gutted 😞

Gooseygoosey12345 · 15/12/2020 11:45

I'd love to foster but I don't have the space at the moment. I genuinely feel we could make a difference. I really hope I can go forward with it in the future.
I'd also like a Pygmy goat (which I do have the space for!) but that's unlikely to come to fruition Grin

MrsToothyBitch · 15/12/2020 11:50

To be really, properly skinny thin- then maybe I'd be elegant. And my mothers approval of my appearance. Yes, they're linked.
