I can’t bear to even look at them anymore, Even Boris can hardly find the words - or hide the shame. He has failed and this will be his legacy. Oven-ready deal indeed. Fools! AIBU?

Like

"The deal will be as easy as cake". David Davis, brexit secretary.

" 350 million a week to the NHS". Brexit bus.

"An oven ready deal". Johnson 2019.

Upholding duty? He's, and his partners, making fools of people.

He has a democratic mandate to agree a deal with the EU.

Poll after poll showed that the British public did not want No Deal. The politicians did not want No Deal. A year ago, he was elected because he said he had a deal.

Spin it how you like: if he doesn't get a deal with the EU, he's a liar and a conman and he's betrayed the majority of those who voted for him.

Jellykat · 12/12/2020 21:15

surely it’s up to the governments discretion?

The government has a duty to act in the best interests of the country and no deal is the polar opposite of that. Its a massive failure and dereliction of duty.

alaiaa · 12/12/2020 21:19

No - he is a barefaced liar. I don’t think he even believes in Brexit, he just saw it as a chance to have his political moment and he knew people would be daft enough to vote for any old slogan DC three at them. You can see it in his face now - the anxiety. He said he would get us a “great deal.” He was first in line to criticise TM and her negotiating skills - let’s not forget that. Then he tried to prorogue Parliament to get his deal through - told the UK it was “oven ready” - only to try and renege on it at the 11th hour. He is full of bollox and the whole world can see it.

He doesn't have a mandate to do this. The manifesto states:

We will negotiate a trade agreement next
year – one that will strengthen our Union –
and we will not extend the implementation
period beyond December 2020. In parallel,
we will legislate to ensure high standards of
workers’ rights, environmental protection
and consumer rights.

No deal breaks this

Very pleased! Boris has grown a pair and not being bullied by the corrupt EU! Fingers crossed for a no deal. We may eventually get back our fishing industry and build up the fishing towns again. And stop the factory ships coming over and destroying the fish stocks!

randomchap · 12/12/2020 21:26

We will negotiate a trade agreement next year

This was their promise. They broke it.

Liars, charlatans and chancers.

@Mymymysturgeon, he has a mandate to lie? Really?

I read posts like this and wonder. Is this a parody? Or does the poster actually believe it?
alaiaa · 12/12/2020 21:30

Oh well as long as the fishermen are ok. Sod the other 99% of the country.

@nicky7654 how did we lose our fishing industry ? Was under the impression we sold off our quotas voluntarily..... Tories have had years to regenerate ex fishing towns but they were left to rot, you trust him ?

The fishermen won't be OK, the majority of fish caught in British waters is sold to the continent. They need a trade deal to stop the fish being held up in customs.

Brexit, the clusterfuck of all clusterfucks.

bettybauble · 12/12/2020 21:38

He's lied about so many things now, about Brexit and the pandemic. Anyone who still supports him in the face of all these lies is either gullible or stupid

MaxNormal · 12/12/2020 21:38

On this occasion the government subcontracted out the decision on what was best for the country and in a referendum and various subsequent elections the public have made that very clear

That was in itself a act of almost criminal negligence.
