I am past caring now.
I feel for people who didn't want Brexit. Who know all the implications and can see the issues that are coming.

But if you want No Deal Brexit and it fucks you up, tough shit.

You wanted it. You get it. You own it.

And pardon me if I don't give a shit anymore about you.

And yes - I am looking forward to the schadenfreude when they realise that their vote will fuck them up

That won't happen though. People who want Brexit will just be happy that its done.

chomalungma · 14/12/2020 15:31

Come on now OP, don’t pretend you ever gave a shit about the people you’re wishing suffering upon, it’s clear from all your posts how much you hate fellow citizens with a different opinion to yours - how very dare they

And someone else who is unable to understand the difference between 'wishing' harm on someone vs not caring if something happens to them because they voted for it.

There is a big difference.

Hmm

"Fuck you if it turns out shit for you" is pretty aggressive.

BorisSortYourHairOutAndBrexit · 14/12/2020 15:38

We have the world staring at us in disbelief as we're collectively written off as a bunch of small-minded, ignorant racists.

This is what I have been wondering, does a vast swathe of Europe and the rest of the world think we are all narrow minded ‘we want our country back’ fanatics? This is what worries me. I really hope we are not all put in the same camp but it feels like we often are.

In my view if the government had spent more time trying to promote the idea that the UK wants to have a good relationship with the EU our closest neighbours, negotiating a deal might have been a very different process. A bit of good will goes a long way, instead our government look like a load of petulant kids.

It seems so many brexiteers are all about wanting to trade all over the world which is all well and good. But are actively encouraging a no deal with the EU thinking that we can replace it with worldwide trade. Maybe our wondrous ‘special relationship’ with the US will solve all our problems. Sadly the US don’t seem to have a clue what we’re talking about with that old chestnut.

I for one think the EU is flawed yes and needs to change in many ways. But they have been clear from the outset that the UK can’t cherry pick the best bits and waltz off into the sunset leaving behind the other parts that don’t suit it. But still the brexiteers bang on about ‘they need us as much as we need them’, well it doesn’t look like that really does it.

It's got the word 'if' in.

And that is how I feel - IF it turns out shit for them. Zero sympathy

MrsMiaWallis · 14/12/2020 15:52

Zero sympathy is one thing. Telling them to go fuck themselves is pretty harsh.

But I'm being pedantic.

I don't think you are going to get a satisfying pay off though as staunch brexiteers will blame the EU whatever happens!

akerman · 14/12/2020 15:56

I don't have much sympathy for workerbee. She's received some pretty rough comments, but she clearly came onto the thread explicitly to goad about having an EU passport and voting Leave. Given the level of distress on this thread and very real fears from people who would have loved to have kept their EU citizenship, that is pretty spiteful.
No - she didn't murder her children. And of course she's entitled to her citizenship, but she actively chose to twist the knife against people, so she can't really be surprised that some people have reacted badly.

Meh, you seem a nasty piece of work so I’ll just dismiss your opinion as you do to others. And I voted remain. However I’d hate to be associated with you given your rotten attitude.

Really? You don’t sound like the typical Remainer; in fact, you sound like the other lot.

It was very clear indeed why she came onto the thread. I thought it was telling that an Irish poster said they hoped she’d stay away from Ireland. Clearly her attitude had made others feel as disgusted as people here were, by her nasty behaviour.

Wow. Potentially the biggest overnight change we have seen in this country: we are looking at peace-time food shortages, huge price hikes and the ports log jammed. And you think people will go “isn’t this great!”

Well if one good thing is to come out of this, it’s that this kind of complacency will be shown for what it is: foolish and naive.

Yes, I agree with you, it's idiotic. But the brexiteers that I know are stubborn bastards and there is no way there is going to be any kind of cathartic regret
bellinisurge · 14/12/2020 18:33

Zero sympathy. The best a Brexiteer can get from me is that I won't say "fuck you " to your face. But know I think it. And I'm not alone.
Own your shit. Stop bleating about the fact that I don't like how it smells.

I listened to a news report from Sunderland last night, the people interviewed (didn't say if they worked for Nissan) when asked how they would feel if Nissan closed, said "We'll survive!" there was no regret, just satisfaction that they were leaving the EU.

Maybe thats a minority POV but how on earth can anyone have sympathy for these folk if they end up jobless & destitute?

Applesonthelawn · 14/12/2020 19:20

Own your shit.
What behaviour qualifies as "owning one's shit"? I'm genuinely bemused.

HateIsNotGood · 14/12/2020 19:22

If it turns out shit for some more than others, I'm quite prepared to 'own' more 'shit and hardship' than some others - if that helps OP. If you think you would do better employed in the private sector, please do give it a go - irrespective of Brexit.

I'd really rather I was told to "fuck off" to my face bellini - generally I don't know how most people I know voted in the Ref - just those who generally like to 'discuss' stuff, no matter how they voted.

Funnily enough the only person I know who got a bit arsey about my Leave vote (they're over it now thankfully) didn't vote at all.

But if you want to tell me to my face to Fuck Off, that's ok - I'll probably just shrug and might even give you a Hug - but there's a pandemic so I can't so I'll just say "Fair enough".

frumpety · 14/12/2020 19:22

I suppose people in Sunderland who work for Nissan and who voted leave are imagining that they will get a decent redundancy pay out should Nissan choose to leave. I suppose they might , but it wouldn't surprise me if the Government chooses to downgrade redundancy rules when they realise so many people are facing that fate. With an 80 seat majority, they should have no problem voting it through.

disclaimer - I don't want the people of Sunderland to suffer, I think it is a fantastic place and the coastline in the area is great and they have one of the best airshows in the UK Smile

HateIsNotGood · 14/12/2020 19:24

Dis anyone notice VDL's slip of the tongue yesterday?
When she nearly said 'Norwe...' but quickly corrected
to 'Agreement'.

And yes she did look tired as a PP said.

frumpety · 14/12/2020 19:33

To be fair HateIsNotGood Boris looks much older than a year ago. The 'Norwe...' slip is interesting though, does this mean Boris has decided to compromise in a really serious way ?

frumpety · 14/12/2020 19:39

Not sure what you would get in London for the same price but look at this one near Sunderland Smile

HateIsNotGood · 14/12/2020 19:42

He sure as hell does frumpety but then don't must of us? Yes, I think BJ/UK are going to compromise in a 'way' - given most standards are similar anyway, if not a bit higher for some standards in the UK already, there is little to fear from 'divergence'.

The crux is - who decides?

Giving a little bit on Fishing is easy - we need a few years of transition in order to build up our Fishing Fleet. I do think it's important that the UK controls it's waters though - not because of 'sovrenty' and 'keeping out forriners' but because of Sustainability.

We need international cooperation for that, fish move about, no good UK protecting Mackerell stock if they are fished out when they go into EU waters... or indeed vice versa.
Trawler fishing, by its very nature, is not sustainable, its just too destructive.

PurpleTrilby · 14/12/2020 19:50

Yup, totally with you OP. Fuck them. I'm sorry for everyone this will hurt, but jfhc if you voted for this then fuck you. Be careful what you wish for.

HateIsNotGood · 14/12/2020 19:52

Completely agree jas - and I'm pretty sure most people that Fish already know that. Fish move about.

Best decided by Fishing Nations/Countries and Co-operatives that Ocean Fish than an Organization of many Nations/Countries where only a minority are involved in Ocean Fishing?

frumpety · 14/12/2020 19:54

He sure as hell does frumpety but then don't must of us?

Short answer no. I look a teensy bit older than last year, but have the bonus of being fat so it pushes the wrinkles out Wink

Boris looks knackered and if you stick a mask on him, you can see his eyes, and they are not the eyes of a happy man or a nice man
