I'm a fully grown adult and I can't stomach egg Yolks, I can only eat the white part, I'm not scared of them and can be around them but he thought of eating one makes me feel sick.
Sat eating my dinner (ready meal because I'm having a lazy day) got half way through it and started to gag and then I threw up a little bit, I was sweating and breathing harder!
Just looked at what's in it and it's spaghetti Carbonara , made with egg yolks!
It can't be mind over matter as I didn't know eggs were in it Confused
I also I can cook eggs for people, I just can't eat them.
Anyone else have weird phobia type things or is it just me!

Balloons. It's not that unusual but A LOT of otherwise rational adults think it is hilarious to try to get me to touch balloons or wave them in my face. Apparently it's just me being childish Hmm

nearlyrev · 11/12/2020 13:13

Pylons!

CounsellorTroi · 11/12/2020 13:13

The brown bits of overripe bananas. They make me gag.

OneTC · 11/12/2020 13:16

Your yolk thing isn't a phobia

Cancangirlie · 11/12/2020 13:16

A wet shower curtain sticking to meShock

Lorddenning1 · 11/12/2020 13:19

@OneTC yeah phobia is probably isn't the right word to use, I can't explain it though as I have challenged myself to eat it and Iv been fine for a little while and then I get in my own egg and start to gag, the taste isn't that bad, it's the thought of eating it. That's what I always thought, it's mind over matter, but I still gagged today and I didn't even know there was eggs in it.

I wouldn't describe this as a phobia either really but my non phobic phobia is wet cutlery

Mine is super common, insects, specifically beetles

Nottherealslimshady · 11/12/2020 13:21

I have autophobia, the fear of being alone, genuine crippling fear, we have to plan DH going for nights out based on me having a scare and not being able to move.
Also afraid of the dark.
If past lives exist then my last one ended when someone broke into my house while I was alone at night and murdered me, I'm sure of it.

Overripe fruits and soggy cereal make me feel sick too!

LuckyNumberThirteen · 11/12/2020 13:28

Wet tissue.

lola006 · 11/12/2020 13:28

I’m terrified of fireworks. Have been my whole life, no idea why. Nov 5th and NYE are pretty much my least favourite 2 days of the year.

HelloCanYouHearMe · 11/12/2020 13:30

Using stainless steel toilets

Mrsjayy · 11/12/2020 13:31

Mushrooms growing wild in soggy grass give me the heebie geebies and I've no idea my stomach flips and everything

Luckyrabbitfoot · 11/12/2020 13:33

Tomato ketchup. Fully fledged phobia.

Also when lolly sticks (like the swizzles ones) go all wet and stringy, Bleurgh.

My 6 year old has this exact one too! She said it makes her feel like she has spikes?!
Mrsjayy · 11/12/2020 13:36

It sounds like the egg yoke thing is an allergy rather than a phobia.

Snoringoutloud · 11/12/2020 13:39

Balloons for me too, just the fear of them popping though I dont mind seeing or touching them.
My weirder one is seeing patterns on skin so for example if you have been asleep leaning on something and when you wake up the pattern of it is on your skin. (10 times worse if its patterns with holes in) It literally gives me a cold shiver and makes me feel horrible. I'm pretty sure there isn't a name for that and I'm 100% a weirdo 🤣

Yes her stomach will feel weird and the spikes is the only way to describe it bless her. Will she eat mushrooms I eat them fine its just the grass thing. Although I saw fungi on a tree once and was a bit sweaty 😅

CruCru · 11/12/2020 13:41

Chewing gum. Slime. Play Doh.

I explain it by saying that I have some sensory issues.

Lorddenning1 · 11/12/2020 13:47

@Mrsjayy does having an allergy make you sick, sweat and breath heavy. That's the only thing that happens to me, I don't break out in a rash etc

OneTC · 11/12/2020 13:52

btw you should go and put the egg yolk in carbonara in the "things you should have known" thread Grin

JorisBonson · 11/12/2020 13:53

Crabs. I've never been near one (except to eat) in my life, but they scare the bejesus out of me.

Also I can't touch velvet without retching.

Mrsjayy · 11/12/2020 13:53

An intolerance can definitely make you like that yes and if you have been sick as a child even the sight can make you feel queasy( I think)

itchyfinger · 11/12/2020 13:55

Balloons here too. And once at school someone thought it would be funny to put one on me when they found out I didn't like them, and guess what, it popped! So balloons dont like me either.

amusedbush · 11/12/2020 13:55

Yep, balloons bring me out in a cold sweat. There was a ‘hilarious’ incident in a previous job where a colleague’s desk had been decorated for their birthday and the office joker kept miming bursting them with his pen while grinning at me. I got into such a panic I had to excuse myself before I burst into tears. He looked suitably embarrassed when I came back.

I can’t even touch them and I once got off a bus well before my stop because a woman got on with child in a buggy, who was squeezing a balloon 🤮
