I'm a fully grown adult and I can't stomach egg Yolks, I can only eat the white part, I'm not scared of them and can be around them but he thought of eating one makes me feel sick.
Sat eating my dinner (ready meal because I'm having a lazy day) got half way through it and started to gag and then I threw up a little bit, I was sweating and breathing harder!
Just looked at what's in it and it's spaghetti Carbonara , made with egg yolks!
It can't be mind over matter as I didn't know eggs were in it Confused
I also I can cook eggs for people, I just can't eat them.
Anyone else have weird phobia type things or is it just me!

I'm terrified of water pipes and high level WCs. My sister locked me in my grandparents' bathroom in the dark overnight with the cistern dripping. Was petrified.
A pub in the next town renovated their bathroom to have "posh" high level WCs and I couldn't go in there. I drove home to have a wee and then drove back to my friends!!

Also really frightened of walking under bridges and being in underground or multi-storey car parks.

Lots of hang ups!!

ClinkyMonkey · 11/12/2020 23:03

Monkey puzzle trees. Freaky, spiky monstrosities. I have a particular fear of finding myself face to face (or face to branch) with the top of one - looking out of an upstairs window or something.

WendelFong · 11/12/2020 23:05

Mannequins and waxworks. It's a proper phobia.

ibelieveinangels · 11/12/2020 23:05

@Luckyrabbitfoot

Tomato ketchup. Fully fledged phobia.

Also when lolly sticks (like the swizzles ones) go all wet and stringy, Bleurgh.

i also have the tomato ketchup phobia!
Mrsjayy · 11/12/2020 23:16

I don't like "historical "mannequins so old jail's or castles it's just creepy.

Jojojo32 · 11/12/2020 23:25

Not sure if mines a phobia but I hate the thought of my thumb and finger touching, like the fingerprint bit, I'm fine if I don't realise but the moment I do makes me feel sick 🤔😅also my knees touching, have to have a pillow in between my knees at night or I get the shivers, I'm very weird 🤣

MereDintofPandiculation · 11/12/2020 23:28

Knitting, knitted materials, and the word itself. I can just about cope with T-shirt material.

Member869894 · 11/12/2020 23:33

I dont like little holes. I cant really describe it. Like the inside of a crunchie bar makes me shiver

Furrybutts · 11/12/2020 23:36

I have a genuine phobia of cross dressing men.
I'm in my 50s and it only started 4 or 5 years ago.

Before that I had been in councelling for a couple of years for a phobia of another type of person (don't want to say who as it will 100% out me) and I had recovered very well.
Then this one started.
It doesn't affect my life day to day like my previous phobia, but it stops me going to certain places or events.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 11/12/2020 23:37

Stairs that don't have backs but then I did fall through sone stairs when I was 3 and I can remember snacking my face up.

TheLadyOfShallnott · 11/12/2020 23:37

I’m another one who itches at the thought of wooden spoons.

They are fine if they are ancient old and worn smooth though. My mam inherited my grandma’s wooden spoons. I have my eye on them but mam is having none of it.

I can’t have ice lollies on sticks either. It makes me cowk.

FromDespairToHere · 11/12/2020 23:42

Polystyrene. The look of it, the feel of it and most of all the sound of it. Just hearing the word makes me feel a bit sick.

Winterwoollies · 11/12/2020 23:42

Anything underwater that shouldn’t be there, especially very large mechanical things like ships and planes. Photos of them looming under the surface gives me the absolute horrors. But also things mechanical things looming that should be there, like submarines, give me the horrors also.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 11/12/2020 23:44

Pigs....creepy looking fuckers give me the shudders.

mynameisigglepiggle · 11/12/2020 23:46

I am really scared of people dressed up in monkey costumes. Not a huge fan of people dressed up at all but monkey suits tip me over the edge!!

arggghhhhh · 11/12/2020 23:48

Seeing someone vomit.

GlassLake · 11/12/2020 23:49

Google 'crumpet skin' ugh

TaraR2020 · 12/12/2020 00:08

I'm not sure if it's technically a phobia, but I've always felt very freaked standing at the foot of massive, imposing structures...things like towering cliffs or once being right next to the wall of a cathedral.

I'd completely forgotten about it until a PP mentioned the underside of ships. Oddly enough, I've not had problems with skyscrapers...

Maybe I was an ant in a previous life.

Crochetgirl67 · 12/12/2020 00:18

Holes, small clusters of holes/ bumps together. Even writing it here/thinking about it makes my legs go wobbly and my skin starts to feel funny. My family thought I was mad but I researched it and it is an actual thing, trypophobia.

Lavanderrose · 12/12/2020 00:21

Walking on grass, particularly wet muddy grass. Stepping/seeing dog poo, and avoiding any place where I’ve seen some. Walking along unclean pavements, walking when it’s dark and winter as leaves can be mistaken for poo. Also mushrooms growing out of the ground, especially if they are in one large patch, I can’t get over the pattern. Spiders, I cannot cope, if I’ve seen one in the house I will keep thinking about it over and over.

longcoffeebreak · 12/12/2020 00:26

Spiders

Lavanderrose · 12/12/2020 00:27

Just to add insects carrying their babies. I saw a spider take a dip in some water and realised it was carrying loads of babies on its back and I’ve not yet gotten over the texture of it lol.

CoronaIsADick · 12/12/2020 02:31

@Cocolapew

Clusters of things like fungi on tree bark or barnacles on whales 🤢 I saw a photo of a hedgehog with white ticks on it years ago and threw up Blush Holes send me a bit loopy too.
I have this.. trypophobia 🤢🤮 honeycomb, lotus flowers etc. I get panicky just thinking about it
Lofari · 12/12/2020 02:51

Bridges.
They give me cold sweats.
My DH is terrified of chickens.

gluteustothemaximus · 12/12/2020 02:58

Buildings. Bridges. Car parks. Too much weight above. Even upstairs at home I start to get really anxious and feel sick if there's too much furniture/weight. I'm fine until I think about it. The thought of a gym having an upper floor filled with heavy treadmills and weights makes me feel really ill/scared and panicky.
