I'm a fully grown adult and I can't stomach egg Yolks, I can only eat the white part, I'm not scared of them and can be around them but he thought of eating one makes me feel sick.
Sat eating my dinner (ready meal because I'm having a lazy day) got half way through it and started to gag and then I threw up a little bit, I was sweating and breathing harder!
Just looked at what's in it and it's spaghetti Carbonara , made with egg yolks!
It can't be mind over matter as I didn't know eggs were in it Confused
I also I can cook eggs for people, I just can't eat them.
Anyone else have weird phobia type things or is it just me!

Handling wet woollen jumpers after they’ve been washed makes me gag

Water. Not water as in from the shower or to drink. But water as in "wild" water so things like lakes, rivers, some swimming pools (mainly outdoor ones or ones with patterns on the bottom) or the sea. I can get my feet in the shallow end and as long as I can see my feet and the water is clear. But if the water is green, murky or wild I just panic, breathing gets heavy, I freeze my heart races. Seeing other people swimming in "wild water" makes me want to be sick. I can go on boats but if I have to then go in the water I'd probably drown.
There is a lovely river that opens into a mini beach area just down the road from me and in the summer everyone jumps in and has a jolly good time and then there me sat on the side rocking and sweating. I dont even know where the fear came from it just one day hit me and i don't know how to get rid of it. I don't even think it's a fear of the water but what could be in the water. 😳😬

@Almostslimjim

The kids food. I have no idea why - it is EXACTLY the same food as I have on my plate, but once it is on the children's plate I cannot touch it or really look at it. And when it is on their hand Oh My God! I almost retch cleaning them up!
I’m the same I once did slimming world and she kept banging on about how we shouldn’t eat the kids leftovers It made me gag just thinking about it

Also tin foil-I can’t bear the thought of it in the house
I was once at my in laws and my mil wrapped up some food in it and I couldn’t physically go near the fridge until she’d binned it
Just the thought of hearing it being torn makes me shake

That sounds like an intolerance to egg yolks really.

Phobias always involve fear!

Edges, doesn't matter how high. I can do high as long as my feet aren't near the edge and there is a barrier. I hate spiral staircases, just one endless edge.
My lovely husband always stands in front of me when we go downstairs.

Yes! I get this too! It makes me shiver just thinking about it.

Also, I’m hysterical about spiders. I can usually sense if I’m in a room with one before I see it. Doesn’t take me long to scope it out. Just before Christmas I got bitten by a false widow and Lost. My. Shit. Full panic attack. My family couldn’t believe it, out of all the people to get bitten!

Teana89 · 23/01/2021 03:00

I have trypophobia.
Also I have a snake phobia. Hate even writing the word. I can't look at pictures of them, nothing.
Doesn't help that I'm Australian. I spend the warm months terrified whenever I have to go anywhere. Someone gave my kids a toy red bellied black snk and I had to get it thrown away. Except they didn't, my brother thought it was hilarious to throw it on me or hide it in my stuff. Prick.

Einszwei · 23/01/2021 03:30

Bananas... not able to touch them. Even seeing them unexpectedly makes my heart race. Have no idea why - logically they seem like a handy snack.

IHaveBrilloHair · 23/01/2021 03:33

My bf has a banana phobia too, he can't go anywhere near them.

sparkli · 23/01/2021 04:48

I have trypophobia. Even typing the word makes my skin crawl. I get goosebumps and my scalp tingles.

I’m also terrified of frogs and toads. Slimy creatures that make me feel sick, even looking a photos or on tv.

Pesimistic · 23/01/2021 05:44

I cant touch vevet either if I think of someone biting it it makes my skin and teeth cringe....
I'm frightened of anything with overly long arms and legs

FixItUpChappie · 23/01/2021 05:52

I absolutely cannot handle hearing or seeing other people brush their teeth. The sound, the bristles....eurrrrrrgh!!!! I want to claw my way out of the room.

P.S I do brush my own teeth though. I don't like it but I do it least you think me disgusting.

FilthyforFirth · 23/01/2021 06:00

I have an actual phobia of needles which is common. It is quite severe though.

My weird one is sponges. I cannot toich dry sponges, only wet ones. Even typing this now and thinking of the texture of dry ones is making me shudder. UGH.

LoveFall · 23/01/2021 06:00

I am irrationally afraid of getting a fish bone in my mouth when eating fish. I can only eat fish like halibut or tuna because they are not boney. If I have filleted a piece of salmon I am ok as I am obsessive about finding the bones.

On occasion this has been a huge issue when I have been served, for example, a whole trout. I just can't and I end up being rude to my host.

notangelinajolie · 23/01/2021 06:02

Slugs. I am actually terrified of them.
Snakes.
Food wise it would be fish and mushrooms.
So basically anything slimy.

IHaveBrilloHair · 23/01/2021 06:21

Slugs is one of mine too, that and puke.

FatherDickByrne · 23/01/2021 11:24

These aren’t necessarily phobias - just things I find challenging. Satsuma or orange juice on my fingers; a helping of peas 🤮 (but not individual peas); the idea that I might close my mouth suddenly and my bottom teeth go over my top teeth by mistake; any scary animal (from mice & cows to snakes & whales [particularly scared of going whale-watching in case the whale tries to surface under the boat and upends it 😱]); spikes on railings (will I trip and impale myself?); driving over long bridges or elevated sections of road (will I suddenly twist the wheel and drive over the edge?).
