Kept your jobs on the same hour or even done better out of coronavirus?
DP has but I know many who have lost jobs or had hours reduced.

OP posts:
Lurchermom · 06/12/2020 21:13

I was furloughed for 3 months (on full pay), then worked half hours (4hours a day) on full pay for a further 4 months. Currently working half an hour short of a full day for the foreseeable because of a gap needed between shifts.
I work for a top University. They've treated us incredibly well and whilst there are some major issues in the University, it has changed my view of them greatly.

Strictlysilly · 06/12/2020 21:16

Redundancy for dh. I have had more hours though (nhs nurse) .

sausagepastapot · 06/12/2020 21:18

A fuck ton of work. I know I'm lucky. I am loving it.

Jenasaurus · 06/12/2020 21:18

NHS Ambulance service, so increased workload

GuyFawkesDay · 06/12/2020 21:23

We've been lucky. I teach, DH works for government funded organisation so we are both ok.

I am on my knees though. DH has been working from home and has picked up a lot of housework and childcare recently.

I'm hugely grateful to have a steady job, and that I feel I've helped during the pandemic but I am so, so close to burnout.

Changi · 06/12/2020 21:25

I'm paid a fixed salary with no set hours.

Unfortunately, the hours I need to work to get my job done have significantly increased due to covid.

Jenasaurus · 06/12/2020 21:28

Actually the whole family have been lucky work wise

Myself and my son both worh for an Ambulance trust, my daughter is a nursery teacher and uni student, my other son works in the banks as an engineer (fixing the internal cash machines), one of my sons gf is and OT for the NHS and the other sons GF works in London in textiles (the only one at risk) My daughters boyfriend has just finished an apprentiship for an insurance company.

I appreciate we are all fortunate to not have been financially adversely affected, I feel for those who have lost their jobs or had their income reduced.

Jenasaurus · 06/12/2020 21:29

Please excuse my grammar

AMCoffeePMWine · 06/12/2020 21:31

We own a short term rental in a fairly remote spot, and we’ve never been busier. We’ve had to up our game for cleaning practices so the work takes longer between guests, but on the plus side our calendar has been booked solid since lockdown was lifted.

We’ve asked our guests to bring self catering food provisions with them, out of respect of the small town were located, and everyone has been understanding and respectful. It’s been a nice time to do business for us.

Sorry for those not doing well, though. I hope things pick up for you in 2021.

Siepie · 06/12/2020 21:33

I'm currently on maternity leave and getting the same maternity pay as I would be without the pandemic.

DP is a doctor. Longer hours, no holidays (was even asked to consider not taking paternity leave), no extra pay, but it's a steady income. Like you say, swings and roundabouts.

Redwrecker · 06/12/2020 21:35

Already wfh - but of course, no travel (was previously around 3 days a month ish)x. Hours increased through Covid, following the ‘wave’ covid trends.

Pay has increased 15% since march. Around 10 % was scheduled, i was bumped up due to performance this year (which i would not likely have been able to showcase without the situation!). A couple of small bonuses too, also directly related. Im aware i am very very lucky.

Blacktothepink · 06/12/2020 21:37

Both work in Social care so increased hours.

Sonofapizzaman · 06/12/2020 21:38

Me, was furloughed but always on 100% pay. Now back at work full time cos ... tax returns.

SendHelp30 · 06/12/2020 21:41

DH has been extremely fortunate to of worked throughout and has been busier than ever. I just got a new job 3 weeks ago- it’s finance in a school so hopefully nothing will happen there. We’re extremely fortunate.

shinynewapple2020 · 06/12/2020 21:45

My job is exactly same hours and pay as before

DS has been working lots of overtime and has also had a pay rise as he's taken on extra responsibility when other staff members were furloughed . But given he was previously on the minimum wage for under 21s and has only had a small raise , he's not exactly rolling in it .

IEat · 06/12/2020 21:48

Work in a school. Had From March lockdown to end of May off.the a few days a week for a few hours until summer holidays. Back to normal in September. No rest for the wicked

Zoflorabore · 06/12/2020 21:50

I’m a SAHM and kids are 9 and 17 so both at school and college.
Dp furloughed in April and was only back for 6 weeks and was offered redundancy which he grabbed with both hands as he hated his job after being with the company for 25 years since he was 19. Manufacturing/engineering.

He was given gardening leave and got a new job that started by chance the day after he officially became redundant. We are extremely lucky.

thetaleunfolds · 06/12/2020 21:50

Wedding photographer, and I lost pretty much all of my work this year (and majority for 2021 too through scaremongering)

But thankfully between the self employed help, a local grant I won and not having to pay out for my usual overheads (second photographers, albums, advertising etc) I've kept the same level of income.

But it's going to continue to impact my income very much until 2022 at least.

CreamFirstThenJamOnTop · 06/12/2020 21:52

Social worker and civil servant in our house - both carried on same hours and salary as before but less manic as wfh so not the usual travelling etc.
Have however not always been able to give 100% when kids have been at home as they’re both young and require constant supervision.

sansou · 06/12/2020 21:58

Wfh throughout with same hours but accepted a company wide paycut of 15% in July. Profits are way down. First round of redundancies was a relatively small number. Thank my stars that I work in the profitable arm of the company since the second round of redundancies is completely concentrated in the loss making side of the company. It's grim out there. Reduced income offset by generally, lack of normal spending on mulitple holidays abroad and eating out!

Sinuhe · 06/12/2020 22:02

been on furlough from March, DH was made redundant in September and me in October. Events coordinator & Hotel Manager... we both worked for medium sized businesses, My old employer has folded mid November (enents) . DH's old place is hanging on by a thin thread... If Christmas doesn't pick up they will probably be gone.

There are hardly any jobs available in our area her alone on a similar level as our old ones. We are surviving for now, but if things don't change soon, we will loose our home.

20bloodypounds · 06/12/2020 22:09

Nup. Completely fucked over.

No work since March (work in events). No government grants or support. Not eligible for a single penny. Paid personal tax, corporation tax, VAT for 17 years.

Gone from c£90K to £4K

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 06/12/2020 22:15

I'm self employed and do fundraising, strategy and organisational development for charities/arts.

I've had 12 days off total (inc weekends) since March. Need is massive and I am turning down work. Raised hundreds of thousands so I am pleased and proud of that but I am on my knees. Have earned more though not in proportion with workload as have done a huge amount of voluntary work, esp during the immediate crisis.

Yachting1212 · 06/12/2020 22:19

NHS. I got a promotion as department realised we needed to expand as we were working so hard training everyone and needed more people and a proper role. We did it as a sideline. We had been going on for years that we needed this department full time. They listened and the team are great.

fleapriest · 06/12/2020 22:23

I gave up work to home school dc's in March.
Just started a job, with less hours and a 5k payrise. I work in mental health
