To wonder how Kate Hudson sleeps at night (Fabletics)?

Yet another friend duped by Fabletics and their offers.

It relies on busy people, usually without much cash thinking that their offer is too good to be true before they find out a few weeks later that another £44 has gone out of their account and that they actually signed up to a subscription for leggings.

It's just such a seedy way for someone who is already well off, who lives a pious yoga/spiritual life splashed all over Instagram, to make more money.

To wonder how Kate Hudson sleeps at night (Fabletics)?

On a huge pile of money.

To wonder how Kate Hudson sleeps at night (Fabletics)?

On a huge pile of money.

And under a big cloud of karma. One can only hope.

To be fair the website makes it pretty clear that to get any sort of deal you need to be a vip member and what that entails.

WillSantaBeComingToTown · 06/12/2020 18:03

I had never heard of it but just had a look. It is massive on the front page that it is a subscription- clear how to skip a month etc etc

gobbynorthernbird · 06/12/2020 18:04

Is it Kate Hudson's fault that your friend chose not to read the completely obvious blurb about it being a subscription service?

Leaannb · 06/12/2020 18:05

Why wouldn't she sleep well? I don't understand how your friend feels taken advantage of when its well documented ots a subscription service. Not Fabathletics fault your friend doesn't read the words written on the screen

FourTeaFallOut · 06/12/2020 18:06

I can't imagine who the hell wants a gazillion leggings posted in intervals but it's obvious that that's the deal and, like most subscription services, it has an introductory discount. I don't see the problem really.

BecomeStronger · 06/12/2020 18:07

I agree it is a slightly seedy way to make a living but the website is very clear, it's not like anyone could get caught out by the small print.

Aquicknamechange2019 · 06/12/2020 18:10

I've been a Fabletics VIP for a while and it is SO OBVIOUS that it's a subscription service. You're told at signing up that it's a subscription service and every email from then on tells you that if you don't skip the month you'll be charged, so I'm afraid i don't have any sympathy for your friend here.

evenmoreforthemoor · 06/12/2020 18:10

Hmm interesting so many people find it obvious.

There's tonnes of posts across lots of forums of people who don't find it obvious. There's even a website - very helpful - called fableticssucks.co.uk which outlines why it is so sketchy.

I guess some people are more susceptible than others.

It's clear though that the business make lots of money off people who don't understand what it is they're signing up to.

Personally I wouldn't want to make my living this way.

I think the point is that you have to opt out of the subscription which if you go for the 2 for £24 or whatever it is is not obvious until the final page. It's in a side bar - which lots of people don't read on a 'normal' website.

It's shitty and I know several people caught out by it.

Its not Kate Hudsons fault that your friends lack basic reading skills Confused

Sirzy · 06/12/2020 18:13

That the first page you come to when logging into the mobile site. Pretty clear that if nothing else you need to look even closer before buying

I've just looked at the website. It says, very clearly, on the home page that it is a subscription.
evenmoreforthemoor · 06/12/2020 18:14

@DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult

The entire website is deliberately obtuse.

And yes, some people do lack basic reading skills, hence why websites shouldn't be deliberately obtuse.

That's normal, though.

It is obvious, but too many people don't read the small print. I don't see why that's Kate Hudson's fault Confused

Do you have a problem with Netflix or Amazon Prime or the million and 1 beauty subscriptions? They make ot perfectly clear that its a subscription service. You get daily emails and give you a chance to skip that month. It sounds like your friend isn't very financially savvy and is blaming a company for her choices. She chose to sign up for the subscription, she chooses to ignore the daily emails and refuses to tell the company that she doesn't want this month's order. How is that the company's fault...Its like signing up for a gym membership and then complain they take your money. You agreed to it
krustykittens · 06/12/2020 18:16

It doesn't matter where the information is, if you are parting with cash for something, you should read ALL the info given, whether it is in small print or side bars. People need to read all the info and take time to absorb it. Too often they just click 'pay now' on impulse and then moan about it afterwards.

Leaannb · 06/12/2020 18:17

@vanillaandhoney....If it was small print than OP would have a point. But its extremely obvious on their web page that its mainly a subscription service

Awrite · 06/12/2020 18:17

Well, I fell for it once. A colleague warned me so I phoned to cancel and the woman explained a way of postponing membership each month. Can't remember exactly but I just cancelled and avoided the £44 charge.

I have to say, I did feel duped and won't ever buy from there again.

FourTeaFallOut · 06/12/2020 18:17

It's a subscription service, it's just how it works. It's clear that it's a subscription service.

Are other people with different subscription services as equally shocked and horrified when their stuff actually, you know, arrives?

LivingDeadGirlUK · 06/12/2020 18:18

It was proper sketchy when it started, they have made it a lot clearer probably because they got a lot of bad publicity for it.

I got into a row about this in a running group, a lot of people were of the 'its their own fault, its really easy to cancel or skip each month' but honestly who wants to buy leggings every month, just like MLM if the product was any good they could just sell them in a shop. It's such an odd thing to have on a subscription service that I can't see any non devious reasons for setting it up that way.

AcornAutumn · 06/12/2020 18:18

I just looked at the homepage

I think it’s very clear

Perhaps it wasn’t always like that? Otherwise I don’t see an issue.
