To think overtly sexy dressing looks very old fashioned?

E.g Claudia's style looks far more modern than Tess'. I love the way young women will wear flats or even trainers and be comfortable rather than dressing for men.

(Or possible I was remembering a ridiculous argement with my ex and feeling slightly triggered.)

Changi · 09/12/2020 21:20

No, Im a woman, why?

Your words...

"I am choosing those clothes to appear attractive to other men."

yetanothernamitynamechange · 09/12/2020 21:28

@changi Yes, I need to proof read better when I type. It might be that I had a very similar arguement with an ex long ago about whether I was trying to look attractive to other men on a night out (other in that case being other to him). But it is more likely that I just type too fast. Well spotted though!

@BecomeStronger

Why is it dressing for men? If I go to a party, dress up glam in a dress, I do it for ME!

Would you do it for a girly night out with women only friends?

Yes and I am not the sort to wear loads of make up and clothes that are overly revealing normally. But yes, I would dress up for a night out for me as it makes me feel good

@Changi

Well no, everyone else does as well

What benefit do they get?

The benefit of seeing people in nice clothes. Lots of people like that.

"1. Because it is part of "going out". The same way I get dressed up for Zoom drinks (I am a bit sad I know) even though no-one can see below my neck. It is a physical way of marking the transition between "it is the daytime, I am working" and "it is night I am having fun"

  1. Because I like it when my (female) friends say oooh, I love that dress, and I say "Thanks I love your shoes etc etc". I am not saying it is purely for myself, but it is definately more for women than men
  2. Because if I wore my going out dress to work every day it would become less sspecial. (Also according other people would bitch about me trying to look sexy in the office, although actually in my office they wouldnt because they are nice people)."

Yes, of course. i do this as well. My 'it's rubbish' comment was aimed at those who say they do it for themselves. (I sometimes wear a nice blouse and tracksuit bottoms for Zoom drinks)

Because I like it when my (female) friends say oooh, I love that dress

I like it too, although they don't need to be friends or female.
