Apparently 'it's an lady coat and doesn't suit you'
' I had to say something because it's not doing you any favours'

Why am I upset? It's just a coat, but I've taken it personally. I feel he's insulted me

Probably because I thought it looked nice on and I thought I lioked good in it and I've worn it a lot in recent weeks.
Now I find out it looks horrible on me and makes .me look old?
Wtf?

I'm prepared to be told I'm being ridiculous.

I love the coat OP. But more importantly, it's none of your OH's business. If you ask him for his opinion then he's entitled to say what he wants. But you didn't, so he should zip it. The gall!

PerfidiousAlbion · 03/12/2020 21:10

He has a point.

It's rather boring, the collar is twee and its cut badly. The colour's very cool too so unless your dark and cool toned, it'll drain your complexion.

Personally, I think you have to spend a bit more than that on a decent coat.

CounsellorTroi · 03/12/2020 21:10

I think it's a lovely coat.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 03/12/2020 21:11

Boucle always looks a bit suspect imo.

Unless it’s a 1950’s swing poodle coat with a boat collar and 3/4 sleeves. Or like the photo. The only way to make boucle stylish

@OutwiththeOutCrowd

The coat looks comfy and practical. It's got two lovely big pockets - perfect for a bag of Werner's Originals and a rain bonnet. What's not to like?
Almost choked am laughing so hard!!!!!

Don't listen OP - it's a lovely coat!

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 03/12/2020 21:13

I remember when skinny jeans first came in. I wore mine with a biker jacket.

Dh asked me why l was dressed as a Ramone🤨

Craftycorvid · 03/12/2020 21:20

I once quizzed the ‘ex’ as to precisely what would meet with his male approving gaze, since nothing I owned appeared to. His answer? After a huge pause....’a nice blouse tucked into tight jeans.’ So there you have it, MN 🤷‍♀️

RedLipstickBigBag · 03/12/2020 21:22

Christ I never ask and dp never volunteers an opinion it really doesn’t matter what he thinks

MichelleScarn · 03/12/2020 21:23
@MichelleScarn love your user name....if it is indeed an Office reference and not your actual name!
Absolutely @mintich have a Dundie! Grin had to use it as "l was never given a name!"
(Watched this far too much!!)

emilybrontescorsett · 03/12/2020 21:24

I really like that coat that is a gorgeous colour.
Coats are practical items though, there to keep you warm and protect you from the elements. Does your dh always impeccable op?
I had an ex who decided to tell my things didn't suit me whilst I was wearing them. Didn't suitable it when I said the same to him.

StormzyInaDCup · 03/12/2020 21:28

I have to agree with dh, that coat is awful op....old fashioned. Sorry, I can see his point. My nanna had one.

Happymum12345 · 03/12/2020 21:29

Unless you’re married to Gok, I really wouldn’t take any notice of your dh.

Bootikin · 03/12/2020 21:30

Coat is hideous. Your DH sounds like a bit of a dick. Sorry no winners here OP.

WalkingInTheAir13 · 03/12/2020 21:30

It's the usual thing of "that model would look lovely even if she was wearing a bin bag"
Unless you are in the same league, coastwise sorry Op but I think it's hideous and cheap-looking.

GoldfishParade · 03/12/2020 21:31

Theres nothing wrong with boucle but the cut could be either sharper or slouchier. Likewise the green should be more vibrant or much darker

WalkingInTheAir13 · 03/12/2020 21:31
 • coat-wise
jambeforeclottedcream · 03/12/2020 21:37

I like the teal colour but not keen on the texture. But the shape is great too.

Just looked online and it says it's been viewed 700 times in last 30 mins but was last purchased yesterday at 6:30pm Xmas Grin reckon their might be people Freeman's tomorrow scratching their head

AfterSchoolWorry · 03/12/2020 21:38

I'm surprised you expected him to like it!

In my experience men like fitted/obviously pretty things. They don't 'get' fashion.

He just sees a coat that's shapeless, a bathmat texture and green.

To a woman's eye it's a cocoon, boucle coat in a good winter colour. A change from black and something you can fit jumpers under! 🤷🏻‍♀️

randomer · 03/12/2020 21:38

Whats with all this nana stuff?

Smallsteps88 · 03/12/2020 21:42

Whats with all this nana stuff?
What?
UsernameSpoosername · 03/12/2020 21:48

I have a very similar coat in bright pink! My DH also said it ‘was a bit posh.’ 😂 He didn’t like it... I could tell.

Do I give a shit? No! I feel fabulous in my bright pink coat & have had lots of compliments.

Also... I will never take fashion advice seriously from DH.

SlightDrizzle · 03/12/2020 21:51

People get wildly enthusiastic on here on Style and Beauty about some perfect winter coat, and you click the link being frothed over with such approval to discover (a) the Usual Parka (b) the usual Didrikson Parka or (c) the Usual Wool Coat.

Winter coats aren’t that exciting or varied, and the expectation that all garments be ‘flattering’ sounds like something from a Colour Me Beautiful catalogue c. 1987.

OP, does your DH always wear garments you consider ‘flattering’?

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 03/12/2020 22:04

Genuinely my DP would Not comment, because he knows I’m not bothered by his opinion

Flowerpot345 · 03/12/2020 22:07

The model is attractive and could probably pull most things off, when I put my thumb over her face I didn't like the coat.😂
It's not fitted and I think it would look frumpy on.
Maybe that's what he means by old lady coat.

bluebell34567 · 03/12/2020 22:27

that was a very good marketing.
