Is your husband's / partner's personality like your dad's?

I was reading about women choosing partners who are like their dads. Is your male partner like your dad? Or your female partner like your mum?

My Ex F was very like my Dad, a nasty, moody drunk. He looked like him too and was in the same line of work.

Luckily I realised what he was like and got out.

My present DP is the opposite of my Dad, very calm, doesn't drink much, not nasty.

I am, however, very like DP's Mum.

In some ways yes and some ways no!

Core personality traits, yes - they're both quite sensitive, my dad always did his fair share of housework, was a hands on dad with me and my sister, helped my mum bear the mental load etc, and my husband is the same. They both have the same outlook on family shared finances, your successes are your partners successes etc. My favourite similarity between them is when I was still living at home and had just started working my dad used to make me a cup of tea every morning and would de-ice my car for me and my DH does the same for me now which warms the cockles of my heart.

But hobbies and interests wise - no they're very different. My dad is a joker whereas my husband is much more reserved and shy.

@Rhayader it is really interesting isn’t it. It’s lovely that you have such a good relationship with your DF too. I hope my DC feel that way when they grow up.

Why do you think that?

Not in looks, but definitely in personality. DH is the kind, caring, giving man that my father is but he is not as much of a push over so will tell me to wind my neck in if necessary.
