Yabu - they’re too close

Yanbu - they’re not too close

It’s a bit of a mouthful that way round Ezraranella - switch it and introduce them as Ella and Ezra instead and that sounds fine!!

spanieleyes · 26/11/2020 20:08

Still think it sounds like one word Ellanezra! Both nice names but perhaps not together!

SnackSizeRaisin · 26/11/2020 20:08

Ella is mega common at the moment so stick with Ezra and call the girl something slightly less common

reefedsail · 26/11/2020 20:08

I don't think they are too close phonologically, but to my ear they are an anachronistic pair. Ezra is very 'now' whereas Ella is quite of the 90s (to me).

I would have said Ezra and Elodie were more of a set.

Mebeline · 26/11/2020 20:11

God no

eddiemairswife · 26/11/2020 20:12

Ezra and Esther.

Wickerbaskets · 26/11/2020 20:13

I really like both names individually but I think they’re too samey sounding for a pair.

Wheresmykimchi · 26/11/2020 20:13

Both lovely names. I'm a fan of Ezra I have to say but I think I'd chooe something different than Ella. Ellie?

Nottherealslimshady · 26/11/2020 20:13

I love Ezra, such a lovely name. I think they sound nice together

FlatulentSproutEater · 26/11/2020 20:13

The vote function is not a poll function. YABU for that.

Diverseduvet · 26/11/2020 20:14

No. Try something more different. Dont forget you'll be saying their names together alot!

iusedtohavechickens · 26/11/2020 20:15

From the experience of having 2 (not twins) of my children having the same initial please don't do it. I get hospital appointments for just the initial and have to guess which child it's for! Also as they have gotten older they open each other's post!

HiyaMeAgain · 26/11/2020 20:20

I think they are too similar, but if you like the names, go for it

HiyaMeAgain · 26/11/2020 20:21

Although, I will add info like the names.
Could you change Ella for Bella?

littlebirdieblue · 26/11/2020 20:21

Love them! Go with what you like not what strangers think

flaviaritt · 26/11/2020 20:24

I’d just be thinking about that moment when you have to shout, “EllaEzra get back here this minute right now!” and wondering whether I could say it.

PokeyRound · 26/11/2020 20:24

Ezra and Isla?

Folicky · 26/11/2020 20:26

I like them! I would also like Ezra and Esme

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 26/11/2020 20:26

Having grown up in a house where more than one person shared the same initial/surname combo I'd say no. From post to gym kit, you're going to get everything mixed up.

S111n20 · 26/11/2020 20:35

I absolutely love them 😉

FlyingPandas · 26/11/2020 20:36

Both lovely, really lovely names individually - but don’t use as a pair. Alliterative names within a sibling set are generally a massive no no anyway (too twee, matchy matchy and really quite impractical as they get older) but for twins? Just don’t go there. Allow them the individuality of different letters to start their names at least!

FastFood · 26/11/2020 20:45

A friend of mine has a very similar name to her brother. Like you, same vowels.

When their parents were calling one of them from downstairs, all they could hear was

  • "OOO-AAAAN"
So both were like
  • "Whaaat?"
And then -"NO NOT YOU, OOO-AAAAN"
flaviaritt · 26/11/2020 20:47

Might also point out that Ezra Miller started his career as quirky and cool and fluid. There are now rumours of all sorts. So before I called my child ‘Ezra’, I’d be asking myself how I’d have feel if, twenty odd years ago, I’d called my child ‘Spacey’.

Mishmased · 26/11/2020 21:39

Ezra is pretty cool and biblical if you're religious. Maybe not with Ella. But if that's what you like that's fine. Congratulations!

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 26/11/2020 22:46

I love Ezra too. I'd pair it with a name not starting with E.
Ezra and Laina.
Ezra and Mia.
