Yabu - they’re too close

Yanbu - they’re not too close

Too close, I think.

What about Eloise for the girl?

DeeandraReynolds · 26/11/2020 23:19

Sorry, I do think they're a but too similar to each other. You will call one and both will answer. Also, twins tend to get lumped together enough as it is. Think it might compound that if you give them names which are very similar.

fastwigglylines · 26/11/2020 23:26

Ezra and Mila
Ezra and Tabitha
Ezra and Nia
Ezra and Cerys
Ezra and Niamh

I've twins, and purposely gave them names starting with different letters.

How about Ezra and Bella?

CovidClara · 26/11/2020 23:41

Poor Ezra

Are you a Mormon? Jewish? Evangelical Christian?
Slighty bonkers?

BackforGood · 26/11/2020 23:41

Too close.
At least give them different initials

CovidClara · 26/11/2020 23:47

And of course Ezra Millar

isurvived3under2 · 26/11/2020 23:48

Don't give twins the same initials, it creates issues.

LemonsYellow · 26/11/2020 23:49

They are very different style of names. They don’t really match at all. Ezra is very trendy/naff/will date. Ella is more common but more classic.

CovidClara · 26/11/2020 23:50

To be called Ezra is just really mean

Lalliella · 26/11/2020 23:53

Both are gorgeous names. But I wouldn’t give my kids the same initial.

ViciousJackdaw · 27/11/2020 00:18

I concur.

Two reasons. Read the name backwards (and I'd suggest anyone considering Lana for a girl does this too...) and then Google Ezra Pound.

If you wish to name a child after a fascist collaborator, why not try Oswald or Adolf?

MustardMitt · 27/11/2020 00:20

YABU there's an entire baby names board for this stuff

Mylittlephonyy · 27/11/2020 00:20

Why do people do stuff like this with twins? Names that start with the same letter and end with the same letter. There are soooo many names out there to choose from that don’t make it sound so matchy matchy.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 27/11/2020 00:23

The vote function is not a poll function. YABU for that.

Oh FFS. Would it have been acceptable to you if she’d phrased the question as ‘AIBU to call my twins Ella and Ezra?’

Porridgeoat · 27/11/2020 00:25

Ezra and Elle would be better, just slightly more different

CovidClara · 27/11/2020 03:17

I can't imagine any situation in which calling a child Ezra will not condemn him to a life of bullying and abuse

It is a truly ridiculous name.

jessstan1 · 27/11/2020 04:05

They are too close, both begin with E and end in A.

Your children need to be individuals from the word go, a boy and a girl particularly so. With names like that they will be like two peas in a pod and everyone will automatically think of them as 'the twins'.

AlwaysCheddar · 27/11/2020 06:52

Ezra.... lol, just no.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 27/11/2020 06:58

I always think giving twins names that have the same initial letter a bit unfair.
They lose out on individuality by virtue of being twins to a great degree - why compound it with something you have choice over?
Because you think it sounds cute?

BrumBoo · 27/11/2020 07:12

It is a truly ridiculous name

This is MN, where names like Gertrude and Stanley are often given as serious suggestions, whilst Ella is considered 'out of fashioned'. I'm pretty sure most MNers are living in a different century from reality at times, and not a future one.

Racoonworld · 27/11/2020 07:13

@ViciousJackdaw I’m never going to be able to think of the name Lana without laughing now Grin

CapGunAmmo · 27/11/2020 07:24

Im not keen on Ezra and Ella is nice but rather bland imo.
Elliot, Ethan, Elias, Ewan. Eleanor, Eloise, Elena, Emmeline?

Maireas · 27/11/2020 07:45

I would agree with posters above, at least give them different initials. That always causes confusion plus they're individuals. It's a bit twee having matchy names. How about very different names? Or use Ezra and Stella?

Alloftheboys · 27/11/2020 07:49

I think the boys name should be Sam 😉
