Yanbu - they’re not too close

No. Ella is ok but Ezra is horrid. Sorry OP. If you like it go for it.

awaynboilyurheid · 27/11/2020 18:15

Ella is nice enough but feel sorry for the one that gets called Ezra!

DeeandraReynolds · 27/11/2020 18:16

Ezra is a boys name and quite trendy at the moment.

FlyingPandas · 27/11/2020 18:30

Personally, I think Ezra and Isabella sound lovely together - I do take the point about all the Ellas and Isabellas around at the moment but names do tend to wax and wane in popularity depending on year group. My eldest child has a classic Tom-Sam-William sort of name and in his year group there were flipping LOADS of boys with his name. The next few year groups down, there were hardly any, and in my younger DCs classes there are none at all (in their school, anyway). It was a name that seemed hugely popular for a year or two and then seemed to kind of drop off the radar.

It's entirely possible that an Isabella born in 2021 might be the only one in her year group as the name's popularity might have fallen by then.

At the end of the day OP you've got to go for names you love (but do bear in mind the genuine problems that might be caused by same birth date-same surname-same initial) and it really doesn't matter if they happen to be popular ones. Names become popular for a reason, basically because they're really nice names!

namechangetheworld · 27/11/2020 18:31

Not a fan of Ezra myself (Ella is beautiful) but I think the names go really nicely together and aren't too samey at all.

Maireas · 27/11/2020 18:44

Isabella was the 5th most popular girl's name in 2019.

Mishmased · 27/11/2020 18:45

@Strangedayindeed why is Ezra horrid?

Strangedayindeed · 27/11/2020 19:02

@Mishmased because it’s an opinion and that’s mine. You may think my name is horrid, who knows? Are there no names you just don’t like? Ezra to me is horrid, but if the op likes it I doubt strangers on the internet will change her mind.

Eryouwhat · 27/11/2020 19:04

I love Ezra. He’s definitely Ezra.

The suggestion of Stella is a good one, tones of Ella but a bit more unusual. It would also give her a different initial, which is such a good point made by posters above.

DeeandraReynolds · 27/11/2020 19:30

I love Ezra and Stella. They go together a lot better I think than Ezra and Ella, in terms of style. Both quirky/contemporary.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 27/11/2020 19:32

Elijah and Elouise.

ViciousJackdaw · 27/11/2020 19:34

@EggBobbin

Ezra and Arze would link them as palindromes
Indeed. You are guaranteeing that your child will be called 'Arse', either to his face or behind his back.
LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 27/11/2020 19:35

Stella is one of my favourite names, but Ezra and Nina is so pretty.

RattleOfBars · 27/11/2020 19:40

Ezra is unusual and exotic, Ella is very well used and a bit dull. Also they sound strange together ‘Ezra and Ella’ ‘Ella and Ezra’.

How about ‘Ezra and Elouise’ or ‘Ezra and Emmeline’ so the girl has an equally interesting name? Or Ezra and Elizabeth so the girl can choose Lizzy or Beth for short if she doesn’t want to be always linked to her brother by name?

Waveysnail · 27/11/2020 19:42

Alise and Ezra

GlummyMcGlummerson · 27/11/2020 19:42

Love it!!

RattleOfBars · 27/11/2020 19:42

Or Ezra and Elodie?

malificent7 · 27/11/2020 19:43

Love them both

peakotter · 27/11/2020 19:43

I know adult twins with the same initial. Fortunately they get on, but two people with the same d.o.b, address and initial can cause a lot of confusion and the potential for trouble if they fall out.

Love Ezra and Stella, or Isabella

GlitteryUnicornSparkles · 27/11/2020 20:15

I love it!

SunniCameHomeWithAVengeance · 27/11/2020 20:30

My brothers are 11 months apart and have the same first initial. One changed his name to the Anglican version for post reasons.
If you want a palindrome how about Aidan and Nadia Wink

Mishmased · 27/11/2020 20:32

@Strangedayindeed I was asking thinking there was a back story with the name Ezra. Of course there are names I dislike but will never call a name horrid.

Mishmased · 27/11/2020 20:35

Ezra and Stella, also like Ezra and Nina I think they're lovely names.
Is Ezra that popular? I've only come across one Ezra and he's almost 2 years old. Noah I've come across a lot.

AnyFucker · 27/11/2020 20:39

Ezra and Nellie
