URGENT - school gate crisis, ive got an hour!

This is complicated, I'll try to be brief.

DSD15 is a shit at school, and has been locked in an ongoing fight with a similar twat of a child for months.

Both girls were excluded for a fortnight following a physical fight three weeks ago, and have been back a week.

Other girl has been very vocal towards DSD (who is no angel, I 100% believe she's been giving back as good as she gets) but no more physical incidents.

Today I have been asked to pick her up 10mins early as the other girl has assembled some adult male relatives to meet DSD outside school, and beat her up. Cousins, I believe.

According to DSD, these people actually turned up in the school reception earlier.

Whilst I am disgusted with DSDs behaviour, and that of the other girl on an ongoing basis, I feel that this has crossed a line into something totally different. Moving from a school spat to a planned, well, attack.

What the hell should my next move be?!?

Do I turn up at school prepared to collect and whizz home ignoring the potential issue, do I notify the police, or do I approach them myself and say 'for Christ's sake, what ARE you doing?'

The pissed off side of me wants to just March up and say wtf is wrong with you all, but my sensible head says if they're prepared to walk into a school to smack a child, I'm likely to end up with a thump?!?

Honestly, I have never known of anything so bloody ridiculous in all my life, and must stress how absolutely disgusted I am at everyone involved. But right now, I have an hour to work out how to manage this! HELP!

(I am at the end of my tether with this, it been a long line of issues this year, and I just want some fucking respite. But that's another thread)

Why isn't your husband, or her mother, dealing with this shit? His daughter, his problem.

wizzbangfizz · 26/11/2020 13:35

Police - I'm astonished the school haven't called them Shock

BoingBoingyBoing · 26/11/2020 13:35

If these men did actually turn up what the actual fuck is the school playing at not immediately calling the police?

Regardless you need to call the police immediately if you have not already done so.

Foobydoo · 26/11/2020 13:35

Has dsd informed you or school?
If it's dsd you must ring school, this is a serious safeguarding issue.
These thugs could attack another child if they can't get to dsd.
If school informed you then go in immediately and ask for an emergency meeting. I would also contact the police if school have not done this.
Infact go to school now regardless, don't risk waiting until ten mins before home time.

I don't see why you are.

School and police stay very much out each other's way. And they do anything to avoid stepping on each other's toes....

MorganKitten · 26/11/2020 13:36

According to DSD, these people actually turned up in the school reception earlier.

The school let random men if during the pandemic? The school I work with you can’t get to reception without calling first.

I’d call the school to check and ask why they haven’t called the police about it.

Twobrews · 26/11/2020 13:36

I'd ring the school first and find out exactly what is going on.
If there are men waiting outside to beat up a child then they should surely have involved the police.

VimFuego101 · 26/11/2020 13:38

Police. And I'd be demanding to know why the school didn't notify them rather than me having to.

Dreamylemon · 26/11/2020 13:40

Ring school first and tell them what your dsd has said about this plan and tell school you are informing the police. Then go and pick her up now.

bonjonbovi · 26/11/2020 13:40

Assuming this is all from DSD, I would ring the school to advise, and then contact the police.

NewNameNewJob · 26/11/2020 13:41

Who rang you? If DSD phone school office immediately, tell them what she's told you and that you are phoning police next. Then do that, take their advice. If they offer the option (if they don't, ask for it) to go and collect her now and she doesn't return until this is investigated and protections are put in place. If school, police are your next call with the same request then phone school back, tell them you're coming with police to collect her immediately and you expect an urgent meeting with the Head and Designated Safeguarding Officer.

Hesnotlocal · 26/11/2020 13:41

Why have the school not called the police? I get that they wouldn't involve police every time the is a fight amongst children but in this case it sounds like grown men have arrived at school (or are expected at school) to assault a child. If I were you I'd call the school and ask that they contact the police- you have no idea what these people are like and you and DSD could be in danger. Especially if they have already been to the school- they could well be hanging around waiting for you/DSD to leave.

BlackPetunia · 26/11/2020 13:42

Ten minutes isn’t enough time

I’d collect her now

And ask school for a plan of action

babbaloushka · 26/11/2020 13:42

POLICE

MusicWithRocksIn1t · 26/11/2020 13:42

If its come from the school I would be asking why they have not already called the police

UniversalHadIt · 26/11/2020 13:45

I used to work in a secondary school where we dealt with a lot of this.
This would 100% be a police matter. Call them now, and the head teacher. Ask them that your DSD must not be allowed to leave the main school building unaccompanied as you have a serious safeguarding concern. Explain it, and tell them you have informed the police.
Then go directly to the school and wait there so you’re on hand.
Do NOT confront these people yourself.

MissBaskinIfYoureNasty · 26/11/2020 13:45

Call the school. See if you can ascertain what is actually going on. Then call the police, let them know. Then go get her.

MrsKingfisher · 26/11/2020 13:45

@nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut

Contact police and ask for them to attend when you collect her as you are concerned for your safety.

I know this is very serious but this comment 😂 some people really have no clue what the police do. Or how many police officers we actually have.

Buddytheelf85 · 26/11/2020 13:46

Yes this struck me as odd too. Schools near us are like fortresses at the moment (understandably)!

UniversalHadIt · 26/11/2020 13:46

And I hate to say it, but we did see kids sustain serious injuries in incidents like this that we didn’t catch in time - so it’s absolutely not something to sit on.

DonaldTrumpsChopper · 26/11/2020 13:46

Call the school. Ours would definitely ca the police and would have SLT outside the gates too.

northbacchus · 26/11/2020 13:47

Police 100%! Call them ASAP if you haven't done so already.

Meraas · 26/11/2020 13:48

Have you called the school to ask what the hell is going on?

Does DSD have form for lying? It seems unlikely that so many would turn up at school to beat up a child, they would be asking to be arrested.

Shortfeet · 26/11/2020 13:48

Did the school call the police as well as tell you to collect her early ?

Pukkatea · 26/11/2020 13:49

Police. This happened to my brother, very similar situations and the adults attacked him with a crowbar and put him in hospital. There are some scummy people out there.
