To want to escape the U.K

I’ve become so disillusioned with his government, it’s corrupt and awful nasty politicians such as Priti Patel and cannot stomach to even see Boris Johnson on the television or the sound of his empty waffling forever gaslighting.

I’m seriously feeling depressed at what we have as a gov’t.

Wouldn’t it be lovely to have a sensible morally correct leadership of intelligent people you could actually trust to lead a nation.

Feeling really down about it.

You're definitely not alone OP with those thoughts, I agree and people I know are the same. That's all I can say. We know the facts.

Madbengalmum · 21/11/2020 20:02

Op out of interest who would you like to see running the country that could possibly be described as a “ morally correct” leader? Just interested.

Fairyliz · 21/11/2020 20:03

If you are unhappy go then no need for all of this handwringing. Or do you just want to be a drama queen?

SabrinaThwaite · 21/11/2020 20:05

@ThroughThickAndThin01

Off you pop.
Oh yes, thanks for that, voted Leave.

Thank you for voting our “off you pop” rights away.

Pyewhacket · 21/11/2020 20:07

Go then

lidoshuffle · 21/11/2020 20:08

How did we go from the joy and pride of the Olympics in 2012 to this, just 8 years later??

mbosnz · 21/11/2020 20:13

NZ is not Utopia. Like the UK, we have a democracy. I've been thanking the Gods that we didn't have the Tory bunch of arseholes in charge in NZ that we had during the quakes, during coronavirus. That can and will change.

Swings and merrygorounds. Maybe stay, and be part of the change that you think is for the better?

Clavinova · 21/11/2020 20:15

NZ seems to have quite a good leadership at the moment

@Savourysenorita

I'm sick of people being so rude about our government. Is it perfect? No way. North Korea? Russia? Most Arab and northern African countries? Rather have their governments?
It's not a race to the bottom though, is it? Or it shouldn't be!
Amanduh · 21/11/2020 20:24

We live in one of the fairest and most free societies. You won’t find much better.

Savourysenorita · 21/11/2020 20:25

Where's the top then? UK must be pretty up there....

Savourysenorita · 21/11/2020 20:25

That was for @stickygotstuck

ripples101 · 21/11/2020 20:27

I have just become so disgusted with the government’s incompetence. This year has been horrible, and a bad situation has been made worse by an inept bunch of people.

I read a thread on here that talked about how we had had a pandemic conference before the pandemic hit, and what a coincidence that was. That hint at conspiracy theory wasn’t what made me sit up and take notice however.

What made me wonder was, if a pandemic discussion was something that regularly happens, something that so called intelligent leaders regularly discuss, so that if a pandemic does actually happen they will be prepared...

... then why the hell has their response to the current pandemic been such a shit show?

shartsi · 21/11/2020 20:35

This is not an airport , no need to announce your departure.

SabrinaThwaite · 21/11/2020 20:36

@Savourysenorita

Where's the top then? UK must be pretty up there....
It isn’t ranked particularly highly in Europe.

Denmark, Austria, Finland, Germany, Estonia, Sweden, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal ...

Ah, if only there was some kind of mechanism where you could move to a different European country and enjoy rights to live and work there.

x2boys · 21/11/2020 20:37

Why don't you go the US it's so great there isn't it ?

TriflePudding · 21/11/2020 20:43

I can’t believe that anyone would be so daft as to pretend not to be British when abroad.

Give over with all this naval gazing nonsense and go and talk to people who have spent time in places where the governments are genuinely corrupt.

Clavinova · 21/11/2020 21:04

Leave then.

Corcory · 21/11/2020 21:09

ripples101 The pandemic planning we and most other western countries had was for a different type of pandemic, a flu pandemic so the stock piles of equipment etc. weren't what we necessarily needed for a Covid pandemic.
What about moving to Scotland, NS is supposed to have done a good job with the pandemic and the SNP can't stand the Tories either! Might be your kind of people Schummarker!

SabrinaThwaite · 21/11/2020 21:15

@Clavinova

Nice try.

Best countries for standard of living.

I’d include Norway from experience but it’s not EU.

Clavinova · 21/11/2020 21:21

Best countries for standard of living.

But the op wants to leave the UK because;

"I’ve become so disillusioned with his government, it’s corrupt and awful nasty politicians..."

notangelinajolie · 21/11/2020 21:21

What makes you think the grass is greener anywhere else? I doubt there is any country in the world where you would not meet someone with views of their own government similar to your own. And I can hazard a guess that the UK is thought of as one of the least corrupt ones. In general terms it's not that bad a place to live.

Clavinova · 21/11/2020 21:22

this [sic]

ripples101 · 21/11/2020 21:24

@corcory

A different type of pandemic?

The 201 event that took place in October 2019 simulated a “outbreak of a novel zoonotic coronavirus transmitted from bats to pigs to people that eventually becomes efficiently transmissible from person to person, leading to a severe pandemic”.
