Ah, yes - Stephen K Amos was wonderful!

I like Tom Allen a lot but don’t watch the apprentice of extra slice so haven't been over loaded. I am listening to his audio book at the moment.

I don’t like MBB. No no no.

I love Nish Kumsr, Romesh Ranganathen snd Jo brand.

I tend to watch programs like HIGNFY, mock The Week, the mash report snd the last leg.

I can take or leave Rosie Jones. I find her crude for the sake of it which makes comedy programmes which I would let my teen watch with me unsuitable for him!

Charleyhorses · 21/11/2020 08:56

He's grown on me.
But Jimmy Carr has the same effect on me.
His stupid laugh makes me want to punch things. And his persona as superior sixth former always makes me say "You are not funny. You are not clever"

ScrapThatThen · 21/11/2020 09:07

I thought Tom Allen was very funny last night.

Flev · 21/11/2020 09:15

We fast forward through the bit of extra slice he's on, but I absolutely agree, he is just horrible and yet thinks he's incredibly funny. It means we can't watch bake off the professionals at all.

CaptainMyCaptain · 21/11/2020 09:16

I think he's the best bit on Extra Slice.

Fizbosshoes · 21/11/2020 09:17

I found him really OTT and cringey on The Apprentice you're fired, to the point it was almost unwatchable in places, but have seen him in other things (8/10 cats do countdown) and dudnt find him too bad in that (possibly because there was less scope for showboating)

CounsellorTroi · 21/11/2020 09:20

@CastleOfDoom

James Acaster is hilarious. I never used to like him but after he was on Taskmaster and he was so funny I love him.
I felt the same about Russell Howard, was never that keen but got to like him very much when he as on Taskmaster.
CaptainMyCaptain · 21/11/2020 09:24

We went to see Russell Howard live years ago, he was very young and had a studentish persona then. I have never laughed so much, I laughed so much it hurt and he wouldn't stop when it was supposed to end. I don't think he's as funny now, he had his time and that was it.

I suppose that happens to a lot of comedians, they start off talking about their own lives but gradually their life changes as they get older and more successful. I was never a great Peter Kaye fan but he started off talking about his life in a working class Northern family, I don't think his life is really like that now and, to me, it sounds a bit stale.

diplodocusinermine · 21/11/2020 09:29

He's on Saturday Live on R4 at the moment - my happy Saturday morning place has just ruined

billysboy · 21/11/2020 09:40

Maybe they can put him on Radio 2 with ritchie anderson and steve wright !

nosswith · 21/11/2020 09:55

I hope he does not suffer in the way Tony Slattery has- on tv on seemingly everything for a while, and then serious mental health issues for many years. There seems a parallel with the overexposure he is getting.

Fizbosshoes · 21/11/2020 10:14

Me and DH have opposing tastes in nearly everything but we both find Peter Kay hilarious.

Michael McIntyre used to really annoy me and his striding about nodding his head still really grates but now I do actually find him funny.

Nanny0gg · 21/11/2020 11:35

@Shoppingwithmother

Smallsteps - Alex Horne created Taskmaster completely himself - I think it’s a bit unfair to suggest you’d watch it if it wasn’t for him. It wouldn’t exist without him!
Just because you are the originator, it doesn't mean you're the best person to be on it. Two different skill sets

NO!!

Radio 2 deserves better. There must be somewhere else for the three of them

I remember Jimmy Carr before he made up that stupid laugh. Pretty sure if you watch early episodes of, I think, QI he just has a normal laugh. Annoying idiot.
WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 21/11/2020 23:03

How remiss of me - ah yes, I'd completely forgotten that Blush

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 21/11/2020 23:05

Graham Norton's Saturday morning slot on Radio 2 is up for grabs in the new year, as he's off to Virgin - I don't know if they've got somebody else lined up for that yet.

ginandbearit · 21/11/2020 23:26

I like him on 8 out of 10 Cats but the one who ruins that and anything else he's on is Joe Wilkinson..like a boorish uncle who doesnt get the jokes at a party so takes over loudly and crudely ...really cant stand him ..

DressingGownofDoom · 21/11/2020 23:57

I like Tom Allen! He's really funny. I can't stand that female comedian with the blow dry and the white stripe down the front of her hair. She never actually says very much just sort of simpers weirdly at the camera.

Cherrysoup · 22/11/2020 00:06

I quite like him, he freely admits he upped his accent given he’s one of Rob thingy’s mate’s and was at the same school.

Rosie Jones I can’t stand. She isn’t funny and I honestly thing she is purely there to tick the box, sorry, but she simply isn’t funny.

janetmendoza · 22/11/2020 00:13

I really liked him on mock the week having only previously seem him and hated him on bake off. I thought he was much more original and cooler on bake off.

Kevin Bridges is a bit like that now that he has a new sort of life. The comedy just isn't the same, it doesn't suck you in. Michael McIntyre on the other hand can keep coming up with middle class dad jokes and it's totally believable and consistent.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 22/11/2020 00:47

Anybody's allowed to do that if they want to. Mark Watson used to adopt a very exaggerated South Wales accent when he was starting out in comedy. As well as it being more distinctive for a performer, he commented once that it was like a defence mechanism - i.e. if people didn't like his performance, it wasn't him with his normal voice that they were disliking. Now he's more established and has the confidence of a known, respected performer, he uses his own natural accent - what sounds to me like a much more subtle South Wales/West Country hybrid.
