His jokes are just all one really - camp. AND he's on extra slice now, so I cant watch that lol. Just watched Mock the Week one of my favs, and nearly turned it off cos of him. Am I alone...??!!

OP posts:
NeedToKnow101 · 20/11/2020 17:54

I find him funny on extra slice. Love Jo Brand too. Always.

Jo Brand is utterly brilliant
Nackajory · 20/11/2020 18:27

He's really unkind to people on extra slice. i love jo brand but really can't stand tom Allen so I don't watch it anymore. He's one dimensional, so irritating.

CaptainMyCaptain · 20/11/2020 18:36

I don't think it's unkind, though, it's just his humour and people surely know what they're letting themselves in for.

Feministicon · 20/11/2020 18:39

Unkind if you’re a blacmange, I don’t think overly sensitive people would apply to be on and it’s tongue in cheek.

CastleOfDoom · 20/11/2020 19:13

James Acaster is hilarious. I never used to like him but after he was on Taskmaster and he was so funny I love him.

SequinsandStiIettos · 20/11/2020 19:18

James Acaster's live show from last year Cold Lasagne Hate Myself is livestreaming for a tenner on Dec 17th - tis my Xmas present to myself and I am so looking forward to it. Funnily enough, I had Tag Carb yesterday Wink

CaptainMyCaptain · 20/11/2020 19:20

James Acaster is very funny.

Roselilly36 · 20/11/2020 19:22

I like him too

dannydyerismydad · 20/11/2020 19:41

I like him, but it seems I'm in the minority.

Then again everyone has been gushing about Alison Hammond on here. I'm sure she's a lovely lady and I wish her no ill, but I don't enjoy watching her.

awaynboilyurheid · 20/11/2020 19:44

I like him too, think people on extra slice know exactly what they will get when he talks to them.

awaynboilyurheid · 20/11/2020 19:45

really can’t stand Alison Hammond just such forced puerile humour.

awaynboilyurheid · 20/11/2020 19:49

Ive never heard Ramesh Ranganethan say anything remotely funny but he seems to think he’s hilarious, well him and his mum.

Litthefirealready · 20/11/2020 20:33

Well he was flaming hilarious this evening on extra slice!

I love him 😍

Maireas · 20/11/2020 20:49

He was! Very funny.

Thereluctantstepmother · 20/11/2020 20:53

I adore him and can’t wait to see his standup when CV has gone!

sparklewater · 20/11/2020 20:55

I love Tom Allen, he really tickles me.

Met him at an awards things and he was really, really lovely.

heydoggee · 20/11/2020 21:03

He's signed with Off The Kerb, the way they put their acts out is by pushing them everywhere and seeing if they sink or swim. That makes them more money. It works well for some comedians and, well, others fall by the wayside.

Most acts that you see all over everything are Off The Kerb acts. They like quantity over quality.

SequinsandStiIettos · 20/11/2020 21:03

Oh and there's nothing wrong with camp. Many comedians have their own brand of humour. Many are one-note or one style. It's either your thing or it's not but camp has been around for decades and I, for one, embrace it.

heydoggee · 20/11/2020 21:05

@oldbagface

He's on Johnathan Ross now. I agree OP, he's crap and very irritating
They have the same agents.

@awaynboilyurheid

It may not surprise you to know that Romesh is also signed to Off The Kerb...
heydoggee · 20/11/2020 21:11

@Mydogisagentleman

I love him. I think it’s a cyclical thing. One person seems to be everywhere for a while - Josh Widdecombe springs to mind. Every time I turned the telly on a couple of years ago, it seemed to be the JW show. And MBBs is a pile of steaming shite
He's signed with... well you've probably guessed...
AhFiddledeedee · 20/11/2020 21:12

I think he's hilarious, but then I'm not at the end of his barbs!

SequinsandStiIettos · 20/11/2020 21:14

Ooh good. I'll watch it thanks. He's ubiquitous atm as his book No Shame is out, so he has to hawk it like everyone else. I like that he has decided to be who he is and sod it. He's not wrong in saying flamboyance is dangerous - in spite of advances with LGBQT rights, homophobia is still rife. Teenagers still get picked on, still get beaten up, still get bullied for standing out, still get teased if effeminate.
I like him a lot (am watching extra slice now) and his spontaneous comebacks are where he excels. But the OP couldn't even be bothered to spell his name right so he'd probably speak very highly of them Wink

Clockstop · 20/11/2020 21:16

I think he'll go the same way as Stephen k Amos who was hilarious early on but got oveexposed and didn't have enough material to keep up with demand
