I hate my height

I’m 5’8, nearly 5’9 and I absolutely hate my height

Most of my life many of my friends have been shorter than me, dresses don’t cover my bum, cropped shirts are just a nightmare and have only had one relationship (I’m 20)

I just feel so unfeminine sometimes, most guys are my height and pay me no interest as I’m not shorter than them, I think I have a nice personality and I’m kind and friendly, but it feels not enough :((

I just don’t know how to get past this, I’ve always dreamed of being smaller. Even photos make me so embarrassed I stand out ridiculously tall from the others

Obviously heels are not an option

Sorry the rambling, just needed to get this off my chest, my friends say my height is lovely but I don’t feel happy at all

Did the OP ever come back to the thread?

I'm 5"10 and have never felt tall! Never felt self-conscious, never been mocked. I think all the men I know are much taller than me? Never really noticed. In fact I quite like being 5"10 as means I can gain weight without it looking too obvious most of the time!

I think my mum used to tell me models were tall so I always thought it was great to be 5"10 - although sadly I would never be model material!

I'm 5ft 8 and was about 5ft 6 by 13 so did feel self conscious as a younger teen. But honestly as I got a bit older I wore massive high platform heels ankle breakers and short skirts at 40 my long legs can still rock one.

I have never had difficulty attracting male attention and I'm not flawless beautiful just happy with myself.

I wonder if this :"Do you think you may have other insecurities that you may be projecting/ displacing onto your height?"
is your problem OP work on building your self confidence and then do social things when we can were you Interact with men. Do you have male friends?

springlike · 15/11/2020 17:39

@Purpledolphin223 I feel your pain! I'm 6ft tall and have size 9.5 feet. I feel hugh compared to others. I like being tall, but would rather not be so tall. I hate the fact I can't buy shoes and trousers in any shop and now hate shopping with a passion. It's easier to buy nowadays than 30 years ago when I wanted all the latest fashions, I've just learnt to wear what I have and get on with it. Unfortunately I can't change any of it! Sad

Argh quote failure there!

I'm 5ft 7, and I've got lots of friends your height. They are all popular with men, attractive and they wear heels. My DH is 6ft 3 and when I dance with him at weddings I often think I could do with an extra inch or two of height to match up with him. Enjoy being tall.

I’m exactly the same height as you OP, I used to hate it in school when I was taller than all of the boys, but now I quite like it.
We are considered tall but not freakishly so, if you’d like to wear heels, then do so with with pride OP!

The best thing you could so for yourself is embrace it and work on your self confidence. I know that's easier said than done. It might be worth getting yourself a personal shopper to find clothes that flatter your figure.
