Vaccine-feeling worried

2020yearfromhell · 11/11/2020 20:36

I’m feeling really worried about this gradual
push to possibly have to have the vaccine, they say they won’t force us, but will likely make you unable to travel, go to festivals etc etc without it, so basically it is almost as if we’re being forced.
Why the sudden rush through of it and such a need for it from day one.
Anyone else feeling nervous? I really don’t want it as no idea what it is.

@user1294729492759

how quickly they’re passing through all the laws on festival entry

Ticketmaster does not have law-making powers.

Which piece of legislation mandates vaccination for festivals?

Well, they’re a private company so I think they can make it a condition

But I wouldn’t be surprised to see legislation

There is now legislation that bans me having friends round. That didn’t take long, did it? Announcement by Johnson 23rd March, waved through by Parliament appx midday 26th March.

NottinghamForestFan · 11/11/2020 21:30

@TrainspottingWelsh

Yeah, it's just a cover up for inserting a microchip into every member of the population. That's why the elderly will be first, they're the closest to revealing the government's top secret plan. We only need to switch off the 5g to get rid of covid.

why are you taking the piss out of people who have reason to be concerned.

Heyahun · 11/11/2020 21:31

If you don’t want to have the vaccine then you just have to put up with another year of this lifestyle then - your choice I guess!

I bloody love festivals, clubbing, travel - so anything I can do to get back to that ASAP I’m in! The vaccine is not being “rushed” - it’s still ages away by the sounds of it!! The whole world is affected that’s why it’s so urgent to get it out !

I don’t know what people
Want - one minute it’s moaning about lockdown and how they won’t comply any further and want their old life back - Then a possibility of That happening Is mentioned and it’s - oh no wont be having anything to do with thatc 🙄

Charleyhorses · 11/11/2020 21:32

Don't have it then

PiperPiper20 · 11/11/2020 21:32

Without a vaccine it's not likely that large events or festivals would be able to take place for the next few years at all.

It's only because of a vaccine that it's a possibility.

Redolent · 11/11/2020 21:32

You’ll just have to pay extra for a rapid covid test (that shows you as negative).

2020yearfromhell · 11/11/2020 21:33

@Redolent I’m ok with doing that.

If ticketmaster make it mandatory to have the vaccine before attending events then they will lose a lot. In a poll recently it was 50/50 of people who would and wouldn't have the vaccine

Kim there’s people that are dying

BendingSpoons · 11/11/2020 21:36

If you are under 50 and not extremely clinically vulnerable you won't even be offered one for ages. It takes months each year to roll out the flu jab and that is a vaccination that has been manufactured for months and doesn't need storing at - 80°. I'm NHS and I'll be having the vaccination when offered it. Things have moved on a long way since 1976.

Thatnameistaken · 11/11/2020 21:36

Ill have it as soon as its available to me, I want to get back to normal, to eat out, go to gigs and visit my 80 year old mum without the worry of taking along something that could potentially kill her.

OrangeBananaFish · 11/11/2020 21:36

I am more worried about too many people not getting he vaccine which means we won't get normal life back again

Snap.

I wont get offered the vaccine for a long long time if at all, but I'd take it now if I could. As I understand it has only been so quick as there has been no applying for funding, no trying to recruit enough volunteers, no trying to find scientists and places to test the vaccines.

Zilla1 · 11/11/2020 21:38

Bit puzzled by the concept of 'forced' to take a vaccine because I might not be allowed to fly or go to a festival. I suppose the coercive force I see applied IRL feels somewhat different to that standard.

That said, if you are anxious, it might be worth understanding the difference the different vaccine technologies, between a novel vaccine technology like RNA vaccines compared to a modified adeno virus (though actually an uncircumcised gay man might want to think twice before an aden virus vaccine too).

Doveyouknow · 11/11/2020 21:38

No one is suggesting a law will be passed stopping unvaccinated people won't be allowed to go to concerts! Venues might put in place a requirement but it's not a law and it's likely to be completely impossible to police. How will a venue know if you have had the vaccine, they don't have access to their gp records.

I am also not sure what further tests people want them to do in this extra time they should take. They will have completed phase 3 trials and tested it on thousands of people.

AcornAutumn · 11/11/2020 21:39

Kim there’s people that are dying

Again, did you argue for all this when higher numbers died of flu?

Maybe you did.

Suzi888 · 11/11/2020 21:41

@AcornAutumn

OP I feel for you

I was desperately upset about this in March because I could see what was coming

I’ve had time to get used to it, I guess. The trouble for me is it won’t stop at live events and travel, I don’t do either. But hopefully by the time I’m made to have it, we’ll know more about the safety.

This is the 1976 one

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1976_swine_flu_outbreak

My father was a doctor and I think he’d say this is mad rush for profit. As a family, we had our vaccines but it doesn’t take a conspiracy theorist to be concerned about the speed here.

My mother might have to decide soon, she’s 82.

I won’t get into the civil, liberties aspect because I can see no one cares on MN.

Agree with you @AcornAutumn. They all want the money, it’s been rushed. All these daily death stats include people who have other medical conditions too, like terminal cancer but they’ll still put covid on the death certificate. More people die from cancer than covid every day.
Trousersareoverrated · 11/11/2020 21:42

Too right you shouldn’t be able to go to places where you will put others in danger just because you have chosen to not get vaccinated. Keep living the way we are right now and let the people who have done the right thing and got the vaccine live their lives.

It's alll been said on the other one.

onemachine · 11/11/2020 21:42

How can anyone say there are no long term effects without having tested it over a long term? Why has the government needed to remove any aspect of liability from the drug companies if it is, as they say, safe?

Really surprised how nobody on here seems to care for our basic human rights anymore. People should be able to have a choice, whether you agree with their opinion or not, it’s their body. Shouldn’t we all be supporting that?

After all, you don’t see exercise and healthy eating mandatory but that would arguably go a long way to reducing diabetes, heart disease and some cancers, which are the biggest killers (yes, all above Covid)

dietingtomorrow · 11/11/2020 21:42

Op, your choice is straight forward then - have the vaccine if you are offered it or miss out on festivals and other stuff.
Any vaccines will still have to pass all the safety checks before they are given to the public, so there is nothing to worry about. I haven't heard any credible scientific people saying it's unsafe.
To another poster, how can 5g possibly have anything to do with anything? What is the scientific evidence for this?

AcornAutumn · 11/11/2020 21:43

Aren’t they? This is the first thing I found but Tony Blair had a week long conference aboit this in September. Health passport

Racinglikeapronow · 11/11/2020 21:43

@AcornAutumn I don’t know if this is too difficult for you to understand but covid is not a flu and the flu did not cause a worldwide shutdown and announcement of a pandemic due to massive infection rates and adverse side effects and death.

So any and all of your comparisons to the flu are irrelevant.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 11/11/2020 21:44

I get every obscure side effect from medication. 100’s of them.

I 100% would have it.

@Silverstripe

Kim there’s people that are dying

But people sadly die every day from many illnesses. What is so special about this virus (that 99% of people survive) that means a vaccine needs to be rushed through? And that there would be a conditional life if you don't have it?
