Vaccine-feeling worried

2020yearfromhell · 11/11/2020 20:36

I’m feeling really worried about this gradual
push to possibly have to have the vaccine, they say they won’t force us, but will likely make you unable to travel, go to festivals etc etc without it, so basically it is almost as if we’re being forced.
Why the sudden rush through of it and such a need for it from day one.
Anyone else feeling nervous? I really don’t want it as no idea what it is.

Don't get it then. Vaccination is not mandatory in the UK. But why should you get to go to social events and gatherings and endanger other people who may not be able to get the vaccine for medical reasons?

Covid is not a joke. 50,000+ people have died here. Many more thousands will before the vaccine is fully rolled out. More than 50,000 deaths. Does that not resonate with you?

secular89 · 11/11/2020 21:13

All I know is, I would not get the vaccine.

Here is a good discussion of 1976 including the faKe news and fake stories

Yes @Splodgetastic, it will. But if ever there is a genuine mosh pit consisting entirely of the over 75's, it will be the only occasion I would agree that watching a gig via YouTube is more amusing than attending in person. For starters, where would the shopping trolleys go for a wall of death?

MarshaBradyo · 11/11/2020 21:15

How old are you? Chances are you won’t get it

2020yearfromhell · 11/11/2020 21:15

@AcornAutumn Agree with your all your points. I’m gobsmacked how quickly they’re passing through all the laws on festival entry, travel insurance etc. It’s been so rushed through, I’m genuinely frightened, never before has any vaccine had all these rules attached to it, it’s bizarre.

@MarshaBradyo I’m 43, hopefully not then?Aren’t they saying they want everyone vaccinated though?

MarshaBradyo · 11/11/2020 21:17

Ticketmaster have already said you’d need a vaccine or negative test to attend their events.

The negative test part is just as important as for a while only over 65 or whatever we can do could go to their events

I think that would be good but I saw a quote earlier on how it would be fifty and over from vaccine group

I’m not 100% though and can’t find it

BaylisAndHardon · 11/11/2020 21:19

I'm a doctor working in geriatrics and I can't wait for it either. I don't know any of my colleagues who won't get it.

In my experience I have only seen people who have no connection to science or medicine against it.

LG101 · 11/11/2020 21:19

It’s going through a stage 3 clinical trial. I’ve ran and been involved with clinical trials, these aren’t a quick inject people and see what happens. The paperwork / documents / MHRA approval is massive.

The reason it can happen so fast is these companies are throwing resource (people and money) at it. So while writing an IMP can take 2-3 months before submitting the CTA if they have more people writing the documents it can drastically shorten this.

There is no way the MHRA will be approving a vaccine without proper assessment as it will be a massive balls up / media issue.

There will always be side effects with all medicines. Even paracetamol and ibuprofen have side effects for some people. It’s just whether the benefit is better than the risk.

I’m not worried about it at all.

2020yearfromhell · 11/11/2020 21:19

A negative test would be fine for me, I’d take a test before doing anything, if required. A vaccine, no.

Meruem · 11/11/2020 21:20

I am by no means a conspiracy theorist, I believe the vaccine is a vaccine. But, I am also concerned about getting it. I am one of those people who seems to suffer the most obscure side effects to any form of injection, medication etc. Yeah they’ve listed common side effects, I want to know the uncommon ones. I will probably “have” to get it at some point if this is how it’s going to be, but I certainly won’t be lining up to rush for it.

But when you look at flu deaths of 1999-2000 and then 2018, there was no such demand attached to the flu vaccine.

And I have to say....a death with covid is not a death of covid.

February used to be called “morgue month” in the hospital dad worked.

No one has ever even suggested attaching these conditions to the flu vaccine- though I expect that will be next.

You will be able to claim religious exemption in a loophole, just as the Americans do.

NottinghamForestFan · 11/11/2020 21:23

@paintedsmile77

The deadly virus that you have to get tested for to see if you have it.

Exactly, and my age has a 99% survival rate. In fact I had it recently and didn't even know (tested weekly through work).

Why would I want it.

2020yearfromhell · 11/11/2020 21:23

@Marmunia1975 How exactly does that work?

Which religion is that please?

The science behind this vaccine has been in development since the SARS epidemic. It's not new. It is being fast tracked through well established vaccine protocols that have been used before probably without you ever realising...how do you think a new flu vaccine comes out every year?

Sparklesocks · 11/11/2020 21:26

Are you normally anxious in life?

Pukkatea · 11/11/2020 21:26

And good lord, you have to test to see if you have any virus, on account of them being sub microscopic and all. Even ebola looks like food poisoning until suddenly you're hemorrhaging and then dead.

AcornAutumn · 11/11/2020 21:27

That’s really interesting as a wide group in our family social circle is medical and they’re concerned.

My non medical, not very questioning of anything friends are excited.

When dad was dying of cancer, there was an MDT involved and obviously, opinions varied re his treatment but I couldn’t help noticing it was the younger doctors who were less concerned about the side effects of treatments.

user1294729492759 · 11/11/2020 21:28

Ticketmaster does not have law-making powers.

Which piece of legislation mandates vaccination for festivals?

AcornAutumn · 11/11/2020 21:28

Yes, but no one is pushed to take a flu vaccine or banned from certain activities without it.
Pukkatea · 11/11/2020 21:29

But the reason people don't want to be 'pushed' into it is because they think it's rushed and therefore not safe - but my example shows that vaccines have been being produced in this way for many years and therefore we have evidence that it isn't unsafe at all.
