Vaccine-feeling worried

2020yearfromhell · 11/11/2020 20:36

I’m feeling really worried about this gradual
push to possibly have to have the vaccine, they say they won’t force us, but will likely make you unable to travel, go to festivals etc etc without it, so basically it is almost as if we’re being forced.
Why the sudden rush through of it and such a need for it from day one.
Anyone else feeling nervous? I really don’t want it as no idea what it is.

Op same as you I am concerned about the push for this. Also there is no information on how often this needs to be taken. Surely it can't be a one dose vaccination? It should probably be yearly like flu jab (which is also not guaranteed to prevent flu.) . I am concerned that side effects will be ignored as it's deemed as a magic solution. But it's still only 90% effective so people should still be cautious. There could be some who have taken vaccinations and can still get very ill with and pass it around.

There was a question about if this is safe for people with underlying conditions on tv and the discussion was it's not clear at all if it's safe for people with pre-existing health issues and has been mostly tested on healthy individuals.

I wonder if there is a black market for falsified vaccine records

Sunshinegirl82 · 11/11/2020 22:45

@redferrari at 90% effectiveness this vaccine will be one of the most effective vaccines that has ever been produced. It will be right up there, 90% efficacy is pretty much as good as it gets.

How can they possibly know how long the vaccine's effects will last? We will have to wait and keep observing and following up on those who have had the vaccine to see what happens.

2020yearfromhell · 11/11/2020 22:49

@CatsArePeopleToo That’s a point

Michaelschofield · 11/11/2020 22:49

I’m with you OP . Why would we want a vaccine for a virus with 99% survival rate? It doesn’t make sense. It’s a very sinister situation. Anyone who thinks the jab is a good thing needs to think again.

MrsFezziwig · 11/11/2020 22:50

But the risk of COVID to my children is basically zero. So I would feel uncomfortable about subjecting them to even a 1 in a million risk in a vaccine.

If you were that bothered about the effect on your children I would have expected you to research the fact that it’s not actually licensed for children so they won’t be getting it.

SheepandCow · 11/11/2020 22:54

You anti vaxxers are very useful but are there enough of you? There's millions of people waiting in the queue more than happy to push you out of it.

The government is having to restrict access. Supplies are so limited that it won't be available privately.

You don't want it? Good. More supplies for all the very many who do. We'll save the hospital beds and Long Covid treatment clinics for you.

Michaelschofield · 11/11/2020 22:55

Our hospitals are not overwhelmed it’s a lie . the government have committed serious crimes . Do not let your children have the vaccine . Please research further than the BBC Hmm and Daily Mail. I cannot believe how many of you have fallen for the lies.

yawnsvillex · 11/11/2020 22:58

@Moistmolly

Why the sudden rush through of it and such a need for it from day one

Because people are dying from it?

So are people dying from other disease and infections

Children aren't going to be given it The vaccines haven't yet been trialled on children.

And no adult will be made to take it either. Quite the opposite. There's not nearly enough to go round. You don't want it, there's plenty waiting to take your place.

I agree with researching wider than the BBC and daily mail. I suggest looking at what the scientific and medical experts say. Start with the WHO.

I know your game btw OP. Is the government paying you to deter people? That's one way of reducing demand for a very oversubscribed product. What's your payment? Jump the queue for the vaccine?

Gilead · 11/11/2020 23:02

It took one man around 2 and a half years to develop the first Polio vaccine. It took around six months to develop the swine flu vaccine. Given that most of the scientists in the world have now been given unlimited resources in a far more technologically based society, one imagines results are going to be relatively quick and effective.
I worry about when and how we stoooed believing in science.

redferrari · 11/11/2020 23:03

I am concerned that's it's being sort of rushed and is it really safe? A lot of money was spent on Tamiflu before they discovered its not effective and the dangerous side effects thalidomide was sadly understood very late in the day. How do we know this jab is safe yet?

Gilead · 11/11/2020 23:03

Stopped believing!

Because if 100% of the global population catch it, 1% will die, so 70 million people.

So far in UK, about 1 million people have tested positive, so probably more have had it, let's guess 2 million though it could be many more than that. 2 million out of 65 million population, this is approx 3%, and we have 50 000 deaths so far. Multiply it up, if everyone in UK catches it, we get to about 33*55 000 = about 1.8 million deaths. Even if 4 million people have had Covid so far (and/or discount kids), you'd still be looking at 0.9 million deaths. Plus overloaded hospitals, burnt out staff, further delays to non-Covid health issues, complications in people who survived Covid (rehab, long Covid etc), and the economic problems caused by further lockdowns and staff shortages.

Is this a wind up? I live in Yorkshire. Our hospitals are being overwhelmed. The nearest hospital has 300 members of staff self isolating and the canteen has been closed.

There are posts on the local Facebook page asking people to only go to hospital as a last resort.

AcornAutumn · 11/11/2020 23:07

Sheep “ I know your game btw OP. Is the government paying you to deter people? That's one way of reducing demand for a very oversubscribed product. What's your payment? Jump the queue for the vaccine?”

Now THAT’S a conspiracy!

Gilead - it’s not that straightforward though is it? You will always get doctors with completely opposite ideas on how to treat the same disease.

Mintychoc1 · 11/11/2020 23:07
@SheepandCow Are you actually serious? 🙄
She’s right. It hasn’t been trialled in kids so won’t be given to them. Healthy people under 50 will probably never get offered the vaccine, they’ll be too far down this list, and the GPs expected to give it will have all died of exhaustion or resigned by then.
I’m a GP so I know the schedule.

Hear hear @Michaelschofield. I like to use multiple sources. That's why I do my scientific research on loads of different conspiracy theory sites, follow loads of anti vaxxers on social media and keep right up to date on the latest homeopathic cures for serious illness. Pseudoscience is the way to go imo. Anything less is just being a sheep.

Oops, bad maths as used 55 000 instead of 50 000 but not a million miles out so logic still works.
