Will Donald pardon the turkeys or will the turkeys pardon Donald?

Thanks, Duncin. Well there's a surprise. Not.

Strangely I don't think Parler is likely to become neutral platform...

As for the "better data privacy"... Mm, so unlike the Trump campaign, then, which has relied so heavily on mining people's personal data, not just in 2016 with the Cambridge Analytica election, but in 2020 with all the data lifted from people who responded to Trumpie material.

OVienna · 18/11/2020 17:14

@DGRossetti

I believe if he had a 'come to Jesus' moment and renounced Trump and started talking sense again, he could cause Trump and the family NO END of problems. Hmm

I doubt it. The two jeniuses mentioned upthread would just say that was "proof" that everyone is out to get Donnie. Rudi being either replaced by a robot programmed by Clinton, or that any footage was deepfake, or that Rudis was being coerced into it because "they" have got his family in a pizzeria in Pennsylvania.

Or something.

When they say there's no arguing with stupid, they are right.

I know, I know. They would have some explanation.
OVienna · 18/11/2020 17:15

You can never forget about they. They're always there, theying, every step of the way. How do they get around anyway??? So many places at once to haunt.

HoldingTight · 18/11/2020 17:15

[quote TheNorthWestPawsage]Only pocket money then.

The Trump campaign says it has transferred $3 million to Wisconsin to pay for a partial recount there. They are only asking for recounts in Dane and Milwaukee counties, the two most populous blue counties. The Trump team says that's where there were the most "irregularities."

Milwaukee:

Biden 317,270
Trump 134,357

Why is he doing this?

Logic won't work here. Remember religion is at play too, so all bets are off.

[quote SabrinaThwaite]This is a great Twitter thread on Rudy Giuliani’s latest court antics:

That was hilarious. Thank you so much for posting the link. I've just read some of it to my husband and it's made our day. Grin

CoteFolie · 18/11/2020 17:48

Why is he doing this?

Because he wants to argue the irregularities mean that all the votes should be tossed out? That would result in a Trump victory. They wanted a Bush Gore strategy but it's not close enough so he has to cast doubt on large numbers of democratic voters. Giuliani and Graham are doing same in Pennsylvania and Georgia.

If he can do that through recounts/court orders in each of the swing states he can win the election. I just hope the system holds and gives Biden at least a chance.

So far the system seems rock solid. That's his problem (I wonder if he believed his own hype ?).

I would be amazed if a recount didn't produce a few votes either way. But that in itself is proof of nothing.

Honestly, if you wanted to rig an election, you really, really, really don't start with the vote count. You need the vote count to be beyond criticism to cement your victory.

If you want to rig an election you start by gerrymandering and losing peoples registrations - exactly like we do in the UK.

What is thing thing he keeps saying about votes from dead people?

He seems not to understand that just because someone who has voted shares the name of someone who has died does not mean they are the same people.

John Oliver did segment on this claim in his show. One of the dead voters was a woman using her married name, like Mrs Robert Jones, so completely legal. The only person using a dead person"s identity voted Trump...

DuncinToffee · 18/11/2020 18:52

Lewis Goodall @lewis_goodall

Updated popular vote

Biden: 79,231,896 votes (51.0%)
Trump: 73,423,197 votes (47.2%)

That % margin is about the same as Obama's winning margin in 2012 and greater than GWB's in 2004.

Biden's raw vote will likely breach the 80 million mark

DuncinToffee · 18/11/2020 18:55

He followed that up with a more sobering thought

That's a six million vote lead. Despite that, given the way the electoral college gives the Republicans such a profound advantage, a relatively small number of votes exchanged in the right places and Trump would have been re-elected.

PerkingFaintly · 18/11/2020 19:00

I don't think the judge was the audience for Giuliani's courtroom nonsense.

I think Rudy is using the court as platform to reach Trumpies who don't care about the law in the first place (despite being the sort who probably claim to be "Defending LawnOrder" ).

DGRossetti · 18/11/2020 19:00

@SugarbabyMilly

What is thing thing he keeps saying about votes from dead people?
Given the Law of Large Numbers, it would be highly suspicious if there were not some votes from "dead people" in any sizeable election. UK included.
  1. Voter casts postal (mail-in) ballot. Dies coming back from the postbox. When the votes are counted later (if checked) - my god, that's a dead persons vote.

  2. Voter toddles down to their polling booth. Gets ballot, casts vote. Gets home and dies before the polls close.

and so on.

In fact, the odds of such occurrences are so high that I would be gobsmacked if there wasn't some sort of provision in various legislatures for it. Even if the provision is "just leave them unless we get to a 1-vote majority" ....

However, as we know, there's an understanding bar with a lot of Trump supporters. So a better way to explain any dead people voting for Biden is that "God willed it" and use the word "ineffable" when doing so.

DuncinToffee · 18/11/2020 19:03

And a bit more

New @MonmouthPoll: 77% of Trump voters think Biden won because of "fraud."

19% believe Trump's delaying of the transition is a threat to national security t.co/iUyGH7zal4

I would question the use of "think" in that sentence.

gwenneh · 18/11/2020 19:30

@DGRossetti States handle their own rules on whether a vote cast by a person who cast a ballot in advance, then dies, is counted. North Carolina doesn't allow it. I think there are something like 15 states that do.
