Will Donald pardon the turkeys or will the turkeys pardon Donald?

Maybe it is just me, but I don't think it's a bad thing if he withdraw troops

Is it not the speed that's the issue?

What are the implications of troop withdrawal?

From some of my reading, there is the worry that US abilities to conduct operations against terrorist elements in such regions could be compromised.

I guess that is arguable - but I would think a reasonable risk assessment would need to take place before withdrawal, at least.

Blueberries0112 · 18/11/2020 01:52

This is what I do have a problem with trump: "And it has rushed through authorization of a massive arms sale that could alter the balance of power in the Middle East." www.cnn.com/2020/11/17/politics/trump-biden-natsec-transition-fires/index.html (an opinion article)

People are so stupid to elect an revengeful president

AcrossthePond55 · 18/11/2020 01:55

Rapid troop withdrawal also endangers civilian populations in areas that have been being protected from invasion by insurgents and/or that may have been assisting the troops as translators, logistical support, or just plain being nice 'neighbours'. If the troops leave before they're able to put in place safety plans or relocation abilities for these people they face reprisals from local insurgents or terrorist cells. Does Scrotus care? Not one little bit. The estimated date for withdrawal? 15 Jan 2021, 5 days before the inauguration.

That fat orange bastard is doing everything he can to make Biden's first days as POTUS as difficult as he can. He's going to continue to heap crisis upon crisis on him. Covid, troop withdrawal, the proposed ANWR leases, the firing of officials which leaves agencies in disarray. Thank God Joe is surrounding himself with good, steady, knowledgeable people. And I'm sure he already has a few 'back channels' going to various Departments.

BoreOfWhabylon · 18/11/2020 02:27

Jaffa The Hutt's vindictive behaviour is nothing short of treasonous.

Anon778833 · 18/11/2020 04:45

Ugh. What a shame there is such a long transition before a presidents inauguration. This vile man cares not a jot for anyone but himself.

I hope he disappears, becomes irrelevant and implodes.

He'd never have had the insight to realise that he's the wrong person to be the leader of a country with as much power and influence as America. His narcissism is off the scale to the point that he would never question his beliefs that he's a genius. 🤦🏻‍♀️ another 4 years of him would be a threat to international security just for a start.

Mittens030869 · 18/11/2020 07:25

I was appalled to hear on the News that there could be 200,000 further Covid deaths as a result of Trump’s behaviour. As Fauci said, the virus ‘won’t be taking a time out’. Trump has their blood on his hands and should go to jail.

MerchantOfVenom · 18/11/2020 07:30

This is honestly getting so tiresome, and I don’t understand how one drongo can hold 300m people, and the richest, most powerful country on earth, to ransom like this.

Everyone’s sitting around, saying it’s not really on, but doing absolutely nothing constructive. Confused

Just stop him, for heaven’s sake. Time for the 25th.

Roussette · 18/11/2020 07:40

So pleased to hear about Dolly, I've always been such a fan of hers, she does so much with books for children etc. Glad to hear there's some love for her on Twitter.

Dolly Parton, Queen of America, talking about how her $1 million donation, made earlier this year, helped with the Moderna vaccine

"I'm just happy that anything I do can help somebody else."

And then we have the fat orange bastard

Tonight I’m calling for the eventual prosecution of donald trump and his enablers for their many crimes against the United States.

Reports that the Trumps aren’t going to Mar a Lago for Thanksgiving as previously planned.

He’s afraid to leave the WH in case they change the locks and throw his stuff out on to Black Lives Matter Plaza in black bin liners.

Mittens030869 · 18/11/2020 08:04

@MerchantOfVenom The problem is that Trump is still the President and will be until 21st January. After that, he'll have no choice but to accept the result, as he won't be President anymore whatever he might say or try to do.

OVienna · 18/11/2020 08:08

Yup. He doesn't have to go anywhere until 21 Jan. Now, if he's not packed his bags that will be something else. But I think it won't get to that.

Mittens030869 · 18/11/2020 08:14

Actually, I think it should go to the Supreme Court whether it qualifies or not. Because I suspect Trump actually thinks that because he appointed three of the Justices, it means that they'll support his claim of election fraud. If that's so, he'll be bitterly disappointed, as they won't do that; they've made an oath to judge cases 'without fear or favour', and he can't sack them.

Roussette · 18/11/2020 08:14

Like that Politico article

“There is no criticism like the criticism of straightforward indifference,” Alexander Cockburn wrote in 1986. As the ritual of inauguration gathers speed, as every third word on cable news and the front pages is about Biden and Kamala Harris, as the imperial powers of the presidency change hands, and as Trump slinks off to his exile in Mar-a-Lago, Trump will feel something close to straightforward indifference as the nation finally unfollows him.

He doesn’t need to pack anything, they have movers that sweep in and clear out the previous resident’s stuff and bring in the new Presidential family’s belongings the moment in Inauguration Ceremony starts! 😜
OVienna · 18/11/2020 09:26

@CaveMum What if he doesn't attend the inauguration though?

Remember this sight:

archive.vanityfair.com/article/2017/5/he-comes-first

Told everyone everything they needed to know about this cretin.

CaveMum · 18/11/2020 09:46

If he doesn’t attend the inauguration then the moment Biden takes office he’s trespassing and I dearly hope the Secret Service will drag him out kicking and screaming before depositing him on the sidewalk of Pennsylvania Avenue 😂😂😂

Mittens030869 · 18/11/2020 09:46

I don't think it makes any difference if he doesn't attend the inauguration. He'll just look like a spoiled child having a sulk.

Mittens030869 · 18/11/2020 09:47

@CaveMum Or else he'll be taken away by men in white coats or in handcuffs.

fairislecable · 18/11/2020 10:02

Him having a sulk can make a big difference - a planned withdrawal from the Middle East is different to abandonment.

At some point political orders will have to be translated to military orders. At that point he might hear a "no". If he hasn't already.

Not sure how feasible or economic it would be to drill in winter in Alaska.
