Very relieved. Very anxious wait, and then as soon as they declared Biden the winner, the last 4 years turned into a 'joke' presidency, in my head.

Peridot2020 · 07/11/2020 22:23

@Pyewhacket He's not a friend to BJ and his coterie, that's for sure, but the time is long overdue that we accepted our real level of importance on the world stage, and not the Daily Heil's 1950s British Empire version.

I also wonder how long it's going to be before Melania's selling her shoes on whatever the posh person's version of ebay is these days, and Ivanka's selling those pristine white gowns of hers. I suspect we're all about to find out that Trumpkin is nowhere near as wealthy or fabulous a businessman as he's had himself portrayed. Also really, really looking forward to seeing him kicked off Twitter; if an ordinary person had made a fraction of those inciting-to-violence posts of his they'd have been banned long ago.

I am also darkly amused that playing golf is evidently the 21st century American equivalent of fiddling while your country metaphorically burns. (At least I hope it remains metaphorical, but thinking of Americans I've met in my life I'm not sure. And they were the educated ones who'd travelled....)

RiverMeadow · 07/11/2020 22:25

I really hope he does get kicked off Twitter!! The world will be better for it!!

I am surprised to find myself thrilled that Biden is in. Obama respects him and that's good enough for me. The last four years, with Trump getting more and more unhinged have been surreal.

MirandaGoshawk · 07/11/2020 22:32

I mean, I normally find US elections mind-numbing.

OddHoleySocks · 07/11/2020 22:33

he really dislikes Bojo which might not work out too well for us!!

If tumours, are to be believed, BoJo could be very temporary, so that's not something to worry about just yet.

OddHoleySocks · 07/11/2020 22:34

Rumours!

Wow, 2 dreams come true...
DianaT1969 · 07/11/2020 22:37

You know those threads about getting rid of bed bugs and moths? I fear they'll have the same trouble getting him out of the White House.

stovetopespresso · 07/11/2020 22:38

wow let's hope for our sakes the era of the blond bumshell will soon be over this side of the Atlantic too!!

hf2345 · 07/11/2020 22:39

Why does Biden overly touch and sniff children’s hair ????

Cherrysoup · 07/11/2020 22:52

As someone said on a thread earlier, some people may have voted for him because they didn't want a non-white female VP.

And yet a transgender senator was voted on. Very progressive for America!

I agree, I don’t think Biden will be amazing, nor do I think he’ll last. He looks knackered. However, if (by some miracle) the Senate manages to swing a Democratic majority-faint hope, I know-then he MIGHT make a difference. Obama was blocked at every turn by the Republican majority. He has the political experience, 37 years of it, plus 8 as VP. At least he actually understands politics and is coherent, unlike the orange one.

Creepy af. This is not normal!

CallmeFP · 07/11/2020 22:58

People don’t think Biden is the best by a long shot, he is paving the way for Kamala.

He has had a significant win over Trump, flipping red stares blue but the late arrival of votes dampened it.

It’s a step in the right direction hence the celebrations.

Plussizejumpsuit · 07/11/2020 23:00

@OutOntheTilez

Points well taken, Plussizejumpsuit, and I do agree with you to an extent. For me, at least, a vote for Biden was not so much a vote for Biden as it was a vote against Trump.

I agree that Biden wasn’t the best choice and in a country of nearly 330 million people, you’d think we’d be able to come up with a better presidential candidate. But seeing what Trump has done to my country the last four years, making a mockery of his office and causing a rift among the populace that I don’t recall having seen before in my lifetime, ignoring medical experts when it came to Covid and sounding more and more unhinged, I thought it best to go with the lesser of the two evils.

It was time to get off the Crazy Train.

Of course I understand that. I would definitely have done the same. It actually made me feel quite emotional reading your post. Just thinking of all the awful things he's done.

@tinkywinkyshandbag how can you be around someone who love trump? Is he not just massively right wing?

MoonJelly · 07/11/2020 23:03

If only we could get rid of our very own bigoted corrupt idiot as well, how good the world would be.

stovetopespresso · 07/11/2020 23:05

@epcot15 and others I think he is a toucher, just watching news on cqtch up nd he is physical with Obama too often! but of everyone not just women. anyway nowhere near as creepy as the orange hand man, come on.

stovetopespresso · 07/11/2020 23:06

God sorry for typos I blame celebratory wine!

stevalnamechanger · 07/11/2020 23:08

RiverMeadow · 07/11/2020 23:09

percheron67 · 07/11/2020 23:25

Biden is anti-British, i understand .Might be worse for us than Trump.

josbd · 07/11/2020 23:25

He was an affront to the human race, a despicable bastard, a deluded fuck......... and a huge danger to the western world.

Now: Can we start work on getting rid of the oily, self serving. dimwitted blond oaf in Downing Street?

Kissthepastrychef · 07/11/2020 23:46

IMO Biden is a big ole Trojan horse to finally get a female president by default. If he gets a bit too doddery to do it she will take over.
The Americans won't elect a woman, even when she's wildly more qualified and experienced over the nobber competition ? Fine, you can get one by default then.

xxyzz · 07/11/2020 23:56

I'm overjoyed. So relieved.
