While I'm concerned at what havoc he and his gun-toting band of lobotomised reactionary fundamentalist nutjob supporters might wreak between now and January, I can't remember being this pleased and relieved at the result of a US election.
Biden isn't perfect, but I think and hope he'll be a decent (emphasis on DECENT) caretaker president at the very least, and hopefully America will re-establish its position as one of the mainstays of the WHO, NATO, the Paris Agreement, and many other global organisations. And well done Kamala too!
I thought it was very telling to see the difference between the footage of people celebrating Biden's win (diverse and smiling) and that of Trump's usual bunch of demon-possessed MAGA supporters. (If you haven't looked up that footage of his "spiritual adviser" frothing at the mouth as she led Prayers for Trump earlier this week you might like to.)
I was also beyond amusement at the very lacklustre "congratulations" sent by our own "beloved" BJ, in such contrast to the words of Canada and many others. I sincerely hope Biden doesn't forget some of the things BJ said about him (I see the Daily Heil is already trying to stir the pot, ghastly dangerous little rag), and I sincerely hope the GFA brings Brexit tumbling down to where it belongs.
But back to the happy. Welcome back, America. We've missed you.
