If you were given a shopping list with dairy milk on it what would you buy?

Would you buy the much needed treat your DW had looked forward to eating all day. Or would you, like my DH, buy 6 pints of milk assuming the "dairy" was to differentiate between different varieties of milk! First and last time DH is entrusted to do the weekly shop unsupervised!

If it was 'dairy milk', I might go for semi-skimmed. If it was 'Dairy Milk', I'd know it was chocolate.

Oat milk
Cheese
Dairy milk
Butter
Potatoes
Carrots
Etc

Then he could be forgiven

I would have bought some semi skimmed milk 😳. Couldn’t understand what was wrong until I’d read a couple of times!

We could easily get thru 6 pints. There is 12 at least on our weekly shop. But it is always just written as milk on the list. We never buy any other kind so no need to specify

I'll admit my first thought was milk! But I'm exhausted today from this work week so not thinking straight .

I think adding bar or chocolate on the end would have clarified it. I don’t think I ever really refer to dairy milk chocolate as “dairy milk”, it’s just chocolate

The list also said "milk". I never buy any other types of milk. Just looked at what I had written and I had indeed capitalised it. Dairy Milk!

In fact I feel like I just call it “Cadbury’s” in my head, not dairy milk. Dairy milk definitely conjures up an image of cow’s milk.

Depends though - if i was shopping for someone i knew was vegan, or veggie, or just really "clean eating" and it said dairy milk, i'd get a pint of semi-skimmed.

But if the person drinks milk anyway, i'd assume chocolate. Although you'd be better typing DAIRY MILK or as it used to be known in this house THE PURPLE CHOCOLATE.

(wee tip though, it's full of palm oil and the aldi moser roth is loads nicer).

I've lost count of how many times I've read this on the internet.

That and various husbands and sons apparently asking for "Fat Cow" ice cream instead of "Skinny Cow".

Reminds me of the time I sent my husband out to buy Christmas Crackers.

I wouldn’t have bought any as my son has a dairy allergy, but I would assume rather than our usual oat milk that he wanted cows milk.

Funny . If you drink non-dairy milk sometimes then it could be forgiven. You know, instead of writing ‘soy milk’ you’re writing dairy milk. But if not then he had a bit of a dim moment.

When I read the title I read it as mill then I read again and instantly thought big bar of Cadbury of course

My mind naturally thought dairy milk as in cows milk. 🤣 But thats because I’m vegan and I have to distinguish between the types of milk as we buy cows milk and oat milk.
A few years ago I’d have definitely thought of it as chocolate. 🤣

No because in our house (where we all drink a different variety of milk) it is called cows milk. Dairy milk is so obviously chocolate and I would be so very sad if DH came home without it (and also a bit 😒 at what he thought I was going to do with six pints of milk!)
