If you were given a shopping list with dairy milk on it what would you buy?

Would you buy the much needed treat your DW had looked forward to eating all day. Or would you, like my DH, buy 6 pints of milk assuming the "dairy" was to differentiate between different varieties of milk! First and last time DH is entrusted to do the weekly shop unsupervised!

what the fuck does one do with 6 pints of milk?
Drink it, cook with it, put it on cereal, feed it to a toddler. Pretty standard thing to buy...

Kissthepastrychef · 06/11/2020 18:46

First and last time DH is entrusted to do the weekly shop unsupervised

He doesn't want to do the shopping. He's done a shit job to make sure he doesn't have to do it again

Sensible chap, he's now got out of doing the supermarket shop Grin
Coffeecak3 · 06/11/2020 18:46

Dh says chocolate. In fact his words were Dairy milk is Cadburys chocolate.
Tbh though we're sat here eating orange truffles so we're in the zone.

TinyGhost · 06/11/2020 18:46

I thought of cows milk when I read your title. I may have twigged before reaching the checkout.

Stealthfart · 06/11/2020 18:48

Just asked my DH and he said the cheese triangles. He is well educated.

TagMeQuick · 06/11/2020 18:49

There's a gulf between those of us who are chocaholics - and OF COURSE would have understood what you meant - a.k.a. me and then there's the strange alien species who can "take it or leave it".

I'm imagining he must be one of these strange outcasts in the latter camp!

The only good thing about having one of those is that there's no competition for each rich delicious bar... Grin

Newstart20 · 06/11/2020 18:49

I immediately thought of the chocolate bar, although I do have rather a sweet tooth!

BarbaraofSeville · 06/11/2020 18:49

I knew this is what this thread would be about.

6 pints of milk isn't that much, we use that in a few days and there's only two of us and we don't even eat cereal. .

SunshineCake · 06/11/2020 18:50

@GCAcademic

I know someone who gave her DH a list which included loo rolls. He came back with 100 bread rolls. Fuck knows what he thought she was planning to do with them.
This is always posted on threads like this.
Kissthepastrychef · 06/11/2020 18:51

Having said that my DH would be so thrilled to find Dairy Milk on the shopping list he probably would have phoned me to check as I never buy anything like that 😂

He also says "chocolate - Cadbury's"

WhySoSensitive · 06/11/2020 18:51

LTB.

This made me snigger Grin

OP Cadbury's is so waxy and unpleasant now, it doesn't melt properly - what about trying out different chocolate treats?

Newuser123123 · 06/11/2020 18:53

LTB

iolaus · 06/11/2020 18:54

I asked my husband - he said the bar of chocolate

Quaagars · 06/11/2020 18:54

Oops. I'd have been gutted lol Grin
Must admit though I automatically thought of milk too, I was thinking it was a trick question or something and that I'd be "well I'd come back with a few pints of cows milk!"

Sunnydaysstillhere · 06/11/2020 18:55

I was making fish cakes.
I added water cress to the shopping list.
Dh bought salad cress.
Apparently I was bu to not let him know there was more than 1 variety of cress...

Kissthepastrychef · 06/11/2020 18:55

Come on, how many people really would think it meant cows milk ? Surely you would just have written "1pt cows milk and 2 pts soya milk". Everyone knows Dairy Milk means Cadbury's chocolate, even me and I can't stand the stuff.
Anyone who claims they would assume it meant milk is, I suspect, showboating

AdaColeman · 06/11/2020 18:55

Is he hoping that you'll say those magical words, "That's the last time you will be doing the shopping"?

I'd have bought chocolate of course! Halo Halo

MiniMum97 · 06/11/2020 18:55

😂😂😂😂😂

Arrivederla · 06/11/2020 18:55

Dairy Milk is absolutely shit so I don't blame your dh. Get some decent chocolate!

CaraDuneRedux · 06/11/2020 18:57

YABU but only because Cadbury's were bought out by an American company a few years back and it now tastes like brown wax.

Better brand of chocolate is the solution - you get a better class of treat, your poor slightly dim but presumably loveable DH doesn't get confused!

HaggieMaggie · 06/11/2020 18:57

Fucks sake he’s an idiot, it’s chocolate, no confusion.

Please tell us more about these truffles...
underneaththeash · 06/11/2020 19:00

DH is incapable of buying anything useful/edible/correct brand/quantity at the supermarket.

He went to the butcher last weekend to buy a chicken (I had specified the weight, that it needed to be whole, with legs on and not stuffed) and panicked slightly as I hadn't said that it needed to be dead and plucked!
