If you were given a shopping list with dairy milk on it what would you buy?

Would you buy the much needed treat your DW had looked forward to eating all day. Or would you, like my DH, buy 6 pints of milk assuming the "dairy" was to differentiate between different varieties of milk! First and last time DH is entrusted to do the weekly shop unsupervised!

@EineReiseDurchDieZeit

Oh dear Grin

I would be Angry though.

Chocolate deprived and what the fuck does one do with 6 pints of milk?

There are currently 4 and 3/4 pints in my fridge and another 5 being delivered tomorrow. We have 15 pints a week delivered (5, three times a week) as DH drinks lattes so goes through a pint and half a day, sometimes 2 pints and DS2 has a bit of a milk habit. I don't even participate in this excessive milk drinking. I have my tea black, and soya milk on my cereal.

OP, I hope you sent him back out for the chocolate bar (but you really should have opted for the Fruit & Nut version)

SimonJT · 06/11/2020 19:20

@Katieweasel

I only have myself to blame. He has form. He once popped to the shop and I said "get us a treat" and he came back with fancy bin bags
See this could be a positive. I buy cheap bin bags, my partner recently bought proper brabantia bin bags and they are so so good.
Lelophants · 06/11/2020 19:21

This is hilarious! Oh poor you op 🙈 we regularly drink non dairy milk so I do get it!

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 06/11/2020 19:21

I clearly use way less milk than most people. But I am single so 🤷‍♀️

dementedma · 06/11/2020 19:22

Chocolate obvs. Otherwise I would have written milk, or Soya Milk, Goats milk etc

Serin · 06/11/2020 19:22

He would come back with Montezuma's (because he is the best).

bengalcat · 06/11/2020 19:23

I'd buy chocolate . Is he still alive ?

eaglejulesk · 06/11/2020 19:23

I would be phoning to check tbh. If I wanted chocolate I would put chocolate on the list, not Dairy Milk.

HotToCold · 06/11/2020 19:23

I actually thought cows milk 😱

Cryalot2 · 06/11/2020 19:24

Chocolate and I would know it was urgent if sent to buy. It would mean the chocolate cupboard was low.

Kissthepastrychef · 06/11/2020 19:25

Op if you don't have anything to do with the milk I'd just stick it in the freezer. An emergency bottle is always handy

Calmandmeasured1 · 06/11/2020 19:26

Just asked DH who looked puzzled at the confusion - "chocolate bar obviously " so he's not useless 😉
Yep. Just asked mine too. He's not useless either.

mangomama91 · 06/11/2020 19:27

I just asked my husband and he said he'd come back with Cadbury dairy milk.
I obviously have him trained well GrinGrin

HunterAngel · 06/11/2020 19:27

Just asked DH and he said chocolate. And this is from the man who regularly produces some random thing he’s found in the supermarket and claims to have brought my favourite!

TroysMammy · 06/11/2020 19:27

Just asked my DP the question and he said without any hesitation a bar of chocolate.

On our shopping list I write either milk x 2 or your milk or my milk. He has semi skimmed, I have skimmed.

ApolloandDaphne · 06/11/2020 19:27

I just asked my DH too and he looked at me like I was mad and said 'chocolate of course'. He is a keeper!

ArabellaScott · 06/11/2020 19:30

@Katieweasel

I only have myself to blame. He has form. He once popped to the shop and I said "get us a treat" and he came back with fancy bin bags
Bwhahaha!

OP, he ate the chocolate.

LTB.

jessstan1 · 06/11/2020 19:31

I thought all milk was dairy milk.

UnholyStramash · 06/11/2020 19:32

All I can say, OP, is I share your disappointment but in future I suggest you use the word chocolate on the list. We wives need to live and learn. I’m not certain my DH has ever made this exact mistake but it feels familiar enough in a general way. So many misunderstandings have afflicted our relationship over the years it’s a wonder we’re till together. Grin

kennycat · 06/11/2020 19:32

What a nincompoop.
Is it possible for you to ditch DH?! He’s clearly insane.

NoProblem123 · 06/11/2020 19:33

He needs to go.

Frazzlefrazle · 06/11/2020 19:33

Oh I read it as cows milk! In my defense we do buy oat milk weekly too. At least he will know for next time!

JovialNickname · 06/11/2020 19:34

I would have immediately realised your obvious error in requesting dairy milk, and bought you some Moser Roth instead.

RoseGoldEagle · 06/11/2020 19:37

When I saw the title of your post I thought you were going to say he’d bought say a Cadbury’s caramel, or maybe a fruit and nut, rather than a plain bar of Dairy Milk, and that would have been bad enough! I would never have thought actual milk!

Ellie56 · 06/11/2020 19:39

Grin Grin

I hope you sent him straight back out for it OP!
