@CuriousaboutSamphire

WHAT?!?!?! Behead federal officials?? Sheriffs defying the law?!?!

What the hell did I miss overnight?

You are right, @sergeilavrov dictator's playbook it mist certainly is! Fuck!

On twitter, Steve Bannon called for the beheading of Fauci, which he was banned for.
CuriousaboutSamphire · 06/11/2020 12:35

Ye gods! Was that part of his Trump = Good Old King Henry crap?

sergeilavrov · 06/11/2020 12:40

He also called for the beheading of Director Wray (FBI), and this was initially on YouTube. I believe it is still on Facebook. He was already on bail for fraud revolving around the Build the Wall fundraiser, but this raises fresh questions given that Trump is known to wait until Mark Kelly isn’t around to phone Bannon for advice. There has been no attempt by the WH to distance themselves from this, the DefSec has his resignation ready, and Don Jr is on Twitter calling for total war. This in incitement to violence. This has happened time and time again, someone tweets - then people are killing others. It’s time for some responsible behaviour.

To make things more interesting, Ted Cruz and Lindsay Graham have come to Trump’s aid. Some are even talking on Trump, if forced out, running again in 2024.

Sheriffs, throughout the pandemic, have been refusing to uphold mask laws. Yesterday, despite a court order saying armed individuals couldn’t watch the court, Sheriffs stood aside and allowed access to a count to armed watchers.

TV channels are cutting into Trump’s broadcasts with a disclaimer

Frazzled2207 · 06/11/2020 12:56

He (Biden) is now ahead in Georgia and likely to get ahead in Pennsylvania. Many commentators say he WILL win PA; Georgia and Arizona could potentially flip back but with Pennsylvania alone, he wins.

It’s still not officially over but when two more states get called (including Arizona which already has gone blue according to PA) - or PA alone- it will be physically impossible for Trump to win.

prh47bridge · 06/11/2020 13:37

@sergeilavrov

To correct some maths I saw here: Georgia worth 16 votes. This would bring Biden to 280 electoral college votes, which makes him President Elect. If Arizona flips back (unlikely), it’s worth 11 votes, but he gets Georgia - he would need one more state to win.

My PhD was in Political Science and I primarily worked on insurgency and authoritarianism. Watching the statements and moves being made last night, I am concerned. Statements from the executive, threats from his advisors to behead federal officials, Sheriff’s refusing to uphold court orders, threats against Biden supporters from police officers, and increasing numbers of armed groups on the street. There may be a long path to January. This is behaviour we can recognise from a number of other states backsliding, it’s called the dictator’s playbook.

That's only because you are counting Arizona in his total. Most networks still haven't called it and it is looking very close. If you go with most networks and exclude Arizona, Georgia would take him to 269 votes, 1 short of the finishing line.

The US Office of Special Counsel is opening an investigation into whether Trump's campaign violated the Hatch Act by using federal property for campaign events. This includes using the Old Executive Office Building as a campaign command centre. Of course, the investigation may conclude that the campaign has not broken the law.

Theyweretheworstoftimes · 06/11/2020 13:53

Pennsylvania just turned blue

Counting continues

sergeilavrov · 06/11/2020 13:54

@prh47bridge Most networks base on AP, which has called Arizona and Fox, with its own decision desk, called it too. ABC are holding out, so if you’re watching 538, know that they’re owned by ABC now. The key isn’t the margin, it’s where those votes are to come in from and how they were submitted.

P.A. and Georgia now have Biden ahead

Parker231 · 06/11/2020 13:55

From Sky News

BREAKING: Biden into the lead in Pennsylvania. If lead holds he’ll be the 46th Preside

prh47bridge · 06/11/2020 13:55

Decision Desk HQ has called Pennsylvania for Biden. Biden is ahead (just) and the remaining votes are expected to favour him. If others confirm this call, it's all over. Biden has won.

Mamanyt · 06/11/2020 13:56

It is looking very much as if Biden will take both Pennsylvania AND GEORGIA, a historical Republican stronghold, and BOTH Georgia Senate seats will go to runoff. It used to be that you could just assume Georgia would be solid Republican. Further, a Georgia Federal Judge just dismissed a Trump campaign voter fraud law suit as "baseless and without merit."

NEWS...Biden now leads Pennsylvania by 5585! All he needs is that state to call it. And may well take Georgia, too. If he does that, he WILL be our President.

It isn't just ABC holding out. CNN and MSNBC haven't called Arizona yet, nor have many other news organisations.
prh47bridge · 06/11/2020 14:00

@sergeilavrov - Quoted the wrong post!

As above, it isn't just ABC. CNN and MSNBC haven't called Arizona yet, nor have many other news organisations.

And, having said that, I should point out that, as far as I can see, only Decision Desk HQ has called Pennsylvania at the moment.

Parker231 · 06/11/2020 14:01

From NBS

Vote leads as of 8:55 a.m. ET Friday:

• Georgia (99% in): Biden +1,097

• Pennsylvania (95%): Biden +5,587

• Nevada (89%): Biden +11,438

• Arizona (90%): Biden +47,052

loobyloo1234 · 06/11/2020 14:01

And that my friends is GAME SET and MATCH - surely. Up the Pennsylvania

sergeilavrov · 06/11/2020 14:01

Georgia runoffs that impact control of the House mean that Republicans have to make a swift calculation about whether to dump Trump. Mixed messaging won’t help, and there is likely to be bottom up pressure on the GOP to make a call so candidates can start their platforming. Given the Georgia results, being tight with Trump clearly doesn’t help given a major issue there was voter suppression and he is now standing in defiance of democratic procedures.

sergeilavrov · 06/11/2020 14:03

@prh47bridge I suppose it depends on your definition of ‘most’, as you’re ignoring all online media e.g. Bloomberg who called Arizona. This is increasingly salient an issue in terms of media consumption. Anyway, it’s important to understand why desks make calls - which is about political geography, not just votes counted.

RedToothBrush · 06/11/2020 14:06

Alaska? Not that it matters

sergeilavrov · 06/11/2020 14:15

Conversations accelerating now about how Trump will leave office. There is some idea that if a critical mass of his appointees resign, he may go more quietly - though will likely not concede in public, rather say they are taking a stand and not participating in a ‘corrupt’ system. Aides have been broaching Trump on this, and have been sent away in response. In terms of agencies, there is caution around whether now they are putting the security and logistical arrangements in place, they may face constraints from the executive. In that case, a stand off will occur as the President Elect’s safety cannot be jeaporidised.

WitchesSpelleas · 06/11/2020 14:15

Sorry, I missed that Alaska hadn't been called.

Janegrey333 · 06/11/2020 14:16

Trumpy can have Alaska. Why doesn’t he retire there?
