No yet.
I'm from outside the US, and I remember when Bush LOST the election, took it to court and they overturned stuff and made him win.

so, who knows.

And it also depends on how many deceased people and non citizens have voted. As those votes shouldn't be included.

Makweps · 05/11/2020 22:34

I foresee chaos and further economic chaos with either win

Casiloco · 05/11/2020 22:48

I'm just so sad for America. Even if Biden wins which I think he will (remaining postal votes nearly all for Biden, if the pattern follows) he inherits a deeply, deeply divided nation.

And we are going the same way in the U.K.

I'm depressed about the future.

charlottemont · 05/11/2020 22:48

@TheJourneyWoman

He's not exactly going to be running the country all by himself, with no advisors or a cabinet or anything

Neither was Trump but people only ever focus on him and what a monster he is.

Because Trump appointed unqualified people to his cabinets. It's as simple as that. When they disagreed with him or spoke out, they were fired and a new Trump worshipper was appointed.

Unqualified cabinet aside, Trump generally just doesn't listen to experts on issues. Coronavirus is the biggest example of this- he has been peddling lies and directly disagreeing with Fauci (the pre-eminent USA expert on infectious diseases) since day 1.

There is a reason people focus so much on Trump and what a monster he is.

charlottemont · 05/11/2020 22:54

Also, his director of the Environmental Protection Agency is a former lobbyist for environmental deregulation (working on behalf of coal companies). If nothing else, if you have even a small concern for our planet, you should be more than happy to see Trump out of office.

You misremember.

The 2000 election turned on Florida. Bush won on the initial count. There was an automatic recount which still had Bush winning but by a smaller margin. Gore then requested a manual recount in four counties focussing on ballots where no vote for president had been recorded by the voting machines. Both sides went to court over various issues. It finished when the Supreme Court stopped the recounts.

Subsequent manual counts have suggested that Bush would have won if the recount in the four counties requested by the Gore campaign had continued but Gore would have won if there had been a statewide recount. However, none of the counts at the time had Gore winning Florida.

Does he? He doesn't even know his grand daughter's name apparently.
Oh come on there's loads of these incidents.

Those "incidents" are all hoaxes or attempts to exploit Biden's stammer.

The video that claims to show Biden referring to Trump as "George" is an edited/manipulated clip from a longer interview conducted by George Lopez. If you watch the full, unedited video he's clearly using the name "George" to refer to the person sitting in front of him. "Four more years of George, uh... four more years, George, if Trump gets elected." It's very clear that he didn't think Trump's name was George, just had a very slight stumble over his words while trying to address the person interviewing him, a slip of the tongue which he addressed instantly. Anyone claiming he called Trump "George" is either flat out lying, or so gullible they mindlessly believe every thing they read online and don't bother to fact check.

Ditto the granddaughter claim, he was very obviously speaking about his dead son while looking at his granddaughter, not literally believing his granddaughter's name was his son's name.

Dongdingdong · 05/11/2020 23:14

It's such an insanely complicated process

It really isn’t...

Mamanyt · 05/11/2020 23:38

We don't know yet. All votes are not counted at this point due to enormous amounts of early voting and mail-in votes. It looks pretty good, but we do not know. And, being in the USA, I'm about to lose my mind.

GuillermoVanHelsing · 05/11/2020 23:42

It's like Jimmy Kimmel said, this is like being awake during your own surgery.

AlternativePerspective · 06/11/2020 05:26

Well, for anyone bringing up Biden’s slip as a reason for him not being president, I’d hardly call that almost incoherent speech from Trump where he speaks like a toddler, repeats his words constantly, slurring as he goes, the mark of someone who is in good health....

Besides which, on CNN last night one of the political commentators mentioned that a White House official was already suggesting Trump will run again in 2024, so even they don’t believe he’s going to win. Grin.

Sparklfairy · 06/11/2020 08:13

Wow, is Biden really only 700 behind trump in Georgia now?! Shock

I didn't know that.

It's really interesting that this is pretty much the worst thing the Trump campaign could think to throw at Biden. They obviously can't bang the 'sexual predator ' drum too hard!

Parker231 · 06/11/2020 08:24

Nevada’s Clark County registrar Joe Gloria says at news conference they won’t complete ballot count until November 12 and that only instance of voter fraud was a Trump supporter who tried to vote twice.

Ineke · 06/11/2020 08:56

Very hopeful that Trump is out but I will not jump the gun until it is really declared that Biden is the winner.

WitchesSpelleas · 06/11/2020 09:01

@Meinmytree

It's such an insanely complicated process, why don't they just use actual number of votes? We wouldn't have ended up with the fart last time had that been the case.
For the same reason we don't in the UK - to make sure less populous states have representation .

nope.

Its 537 behind.

Nikori · 06/11/2020 09:20

It’s crazy how close it is at the moment.

A Trump supporter on Facebook commented that they knew that the postal votes was going to create a complete disaster. As far as I can see the vote counting is going very smoothly and well. It’s just taking time. I remember the whole hanging chad and butterfly ballot thing. There’s been nothing like that at least.

Nikori · 06/11/2020 09:21

I mean close in some states. I think Biden is going to win easily, but it’s like watching snails race at the moment.

Tfoot75 · 06/11/2020 09:41

Biden just taken lead in Georgia.

Expected to take lead in PA soon where it'll be less tight!! 200,000 mail in votes still to count and Trump only has 18,000 lead.

I wonder if that's why I am so invested in the election this year - the Americans getting Trump out for some reason seems to symbolise everything taking a turn for the better.

I know, I'll take positive news of any kind as an omen at this stage!
