To think this isn't stingy?

Dp has just got home from work and complained at the "stingy" portions left for him. This consists of 5 (good quality) sausages, carrots, peas, broccoli and a large bowl of mash (3 generous portions). Aibu to think this is not stingy at all?

Fwiw he has already eaten breakfast, a pack up and a bacon and egg sandwich from a food van ( I only know this as h3 messaged me). And I know someone is going to ask if I underfeed him (it isn't my job to feed him) but he is 5ft 9 and at least 20 stone.

Sorry everyone it either doesn't post or posts 50 times!

When I've raised it it's always "I'll start next week". I'm 90% sure he has sleep apnea but he won't see a dr as he says "they'll just tell me to lose weight".

5 sausages is far more than a portion.
3 sausages and more vegetables would be better.

But I wouldn’t be cooking for him again with an attitude like that..

I would have done less sausages and a huge portion of vegetables.

But with his attitude I wouldn’t be cooking anymore...

Honestly, I know it's serious but the hyperposting is just making me laugh.

@WaterOffADucksCrack talk to him again and no "next week" I had to start that wxact day otherwise I would again do "oh well. Next monday then". I started on saturday. It's hard to talk to someone about weight because it is sensitive thing, but sometimes, sometimes, being frank and maybe even somewhat harsh is needed. And a massive no to eating your snacks. Not joking. Lock them up.

Look at serving suggestions, the portions, and serve you all that amount. After you lock your snacks.

TwentyViginti · 03/11/2020 22:13

Eating your specialist snacks is gross entitlement. Pure selfishness.

WaterOffADucksCrack · 03/11/2020 22:14

RunningFromInsanity I did say to him I was giving DS one as part of his school pack up but he just ate them all. Luckily I'd saved ds one. This is the problem though I have to hide food. Any snacks I may want I have to keep at work so they don't get eaten.

Passthecake30 · 03/11/2020 22:16

The problem with dishing up portions that big is that you’re becoming the enabler i.e. he could just as easy turn around and say that it’s your fault he’s fat. I think he needs to be involved in his portion size, and own the issue.

IHaveBrilloHair · 03/11/2020 22:21

The meal portion sounds fine for a hungry person, him complaining, isn't fine, its really rude and disrespectful.

TheDowagerDuchessofMwwwahaha · 03/11/2020 22:22

He sounds horrible! Put aside his weight, it’s really rude to complain when someone has cooked for you - especially with everything you’ve got to manage in your day - and the portion you’d left for him was more than adequate.

Eating your specialist snacks is really horrible. Doesn’t he realise you need to be careful to stick to the right things and can’t eat everything he can? And polishing off your chocolates is so selfish and entitled.

TwentyViginti I agree. It's very rare I buy a packet of biscuits for example as we're on a budget and they're at least a pound compared to normal biscuits at say 30 or 40 pence a packet so I feel guilty for buying them. Even a loaf of gluten free bread is a treat for me due to cost.

He has a BMI over 40 (morbidly obese), so is clearly used to eating very large portions. You aren't being stingy, but clearly there are greater issues here that need tackling.

You wouldn't believe the difference him not eating like 2 people will make to your budget.
