So frustrated with all the people, from the ineffective and blustering MP to the idiots out trick or treating tonight............

When will people learn that a bloody pandemic cannot be ignored and that insisting on personal freedoms/ personal preferences is NOT going to shorten the lock downs or save the vulnerable ? Sad

We should have had a circuit breaker at the very least 2 weeks ago.

It's the decisions from the top. How does a man with no scientific or healthcare experience get to decide how to manage a pandemic?? I appreciate he has guidance from professionals, but ultimately the decision is his and he has done a BAD job.

Marmitecrackers · 31/10/2020 18:22

**This is the fucking useless stupid cunt we have in charge. This fucking clown was who people voted for.

Of course we're in a fucking state.**

No it's the general public that can't behave not the government. They are doing the best they can having never managed a pandemic before & we do have to balance the economy with lockdowns. Problem is so many lefties think there is a magic money tree.

We need to stop being getting together unless it's essential. Using grandparents for childcare, yes but popping in and out of friends houses there is absolutely no justifiable reason for it.

I'm sick of hearing all this " it affects my mental health crap." People dying is a far bigger problem than you want to hang out with a nice group of friends.

timeforanewstart · 31/10/2020 18:24

Its spreding in most european countries with different rules
Its a virus and one that not all even have symptoms so will be spreading without knowing
We do also need an economy as thats what pays for the nhs , universal credit etc

BoingBoingyBoing · 31/10/2020 18:24

If this is the best the government can do then they need to fucking resign. They've made basic, fundamental mistakes the whole way through. This is their fucking fault and they need to own it or just fuck off.

Ginfordinner · 31/10/2020 18:25

@updownroundandround

@ AppleKatie

I would argue that both contribute.

If individuals aren't following the rules e.g having bloody parties etc, then everyone suffers because if this. i.e Covid rates go up, therefore more restrictions are put on everyone. Sad

And if the government are ignoring the advice they receive from their experts, then the Covid rates increase because government failed to increase the restrictions as they were advised to. Sad

It is the shambolic government and the stupid people who won't wear masks or follow the guidelines/rules (won't, not can't) I saw loads of people in town yesterday wearing masks under their noses.

What we need is a respected figure of authority explaining in words of one syllable how to wear a mask correctly and how to socially distance, and why we need to.

MordredsOrrery · 31/10/2020 18:27

If by total idiots you're referring to the ministers and their advisors who gave important contracts for things like T&T and PPE to their mates - all of whom have track records for delivering nothing whilst pocketing the cash - then, yes. Total idiots have caused this.

boomboom1234 · 31/10/2020 18:29

I am getting really fed up of this nasty shift in attitude towards people being 'blamed' if they catch Covid - like it means you are somehow stupid or did something wrong. How horrible. So many threads like this today. Also those in areas with lower cases feeing superior - why?!?! In densely populated cities we will of course get bigger numbers as it's harder to distance in crowded areas where we work and shop. I'm fed up and this blame vibe makes me feel sad and depressed - not everyone who has it has it because they broke the rules!!

Mimishimi · 31/10/2020 18:29

It's for your safety.

updownroundandround · 31/10/2020 18:30

@ SqidgeBum

By having the restrictions the government haven't said they can stop the virus spreading, they've said they needed to slow it so the NHS could cope with the numbers of people requiring hospital care.

And by asking the public to help by ''breaking the chain'' of infection (which is what is done in hospital, by wearing PPE and observing strict hand hygiene) by using hand sanitiser and wearing face masks (to help stop anyone infected passing on the virus, NOT to prevent someone catching it, though it's not much of a distinction I know)

I'm not ignorant of the concept of a virus, nor of how it spreads. And yes, I AM angry at people who ignore or refuse to follow the advice on staying home if they have symptoms etc, the same as I'd be angry at someone who went on public transport with flu Hmm because it ALSO kills people every year......................

@Marmitecrackers

It's not the government so much as all the idiots what won't wear ( it worries me, i don't like the feel etc) and then there is the "no one will tell me what to do brigade who are in and out of each others houses all the time. Catching up with friends & the " I can see my family because...." Meet them for a walk it's good for you, better than sitting around and you aren't breathing the same air or touching each others furniture. I haven't had anyone in my house since march. I only meet family and friends for walks and bike rides.
i've seen people sounding outside the school gates in large groups yaddering and none wear masks, getting on the bus and taking their masks off, masks aren't the silver bullet but some people are so full of themselves banging on about their civil liberties and human rights. noone with half a brain cell can blame the government because davedown the road through a massive party that ended up on the street and the police being called to break it up, or julie is ignoring common sense [and the rules] because she doesn't do people telling her what to do, it's my life so i'll do what the fuck i want. total morons.
Lostinacloud · 31/10/2020 18:31

I’m another one who refuses to blame people and join in the turning on each other. Viruses spread, they are microscopic and well adept at making use of all kinds of Human habit and biology. Some people will survive a virus and others won’t. It’s sad, it may seem unfair but we have lived with the same setup and risk for centuries.
We should really be focusing on why in this day and age of greater population, global travel and western wealth we have inadequate health facilities to cope with such threats. The blame for this lack of preparation falls only in the laps of the governments.

ifyoulikepinacolada · 31/10/2020 18:32

YABU. The UK population were more compliant than expected until the Dominic Cummings debacle - so the blame for that lies at the government’s feet as well.

If we had an effective test and trace system we wouldn’t be in this position - that’s the government’s fault too.

EOTHO and the return to in-person teaching at schools and unis are huge culprits in the spread - again, that’s the fault of the government not just for allowing it but encouraging it.

And finally, if we’d had a two week circuit breaker as called for by the experts earlier this month, we would also not be in this position. Also the government’s fault.

The thing is, while you’re blaming ordinary people going about their lives which have just been turned upside down and shaken about, you’re not holding the government and their incompetence to account, are you? You’re playing right into their hands. It’s a brilliant distraction technique and you’re falling for it hook, line and sinker.

Viruses spread and this is a nasty one. But it has been made exponentially worse by appalling policy decisions - that’s where we need to place the blame.

Bejazzled · 31/10/2020 18:34

@Orkneys

What have the Tories got to apologise for? Don't think the people having parties ignoring rules and protesting voted tory. Dimwits.
Very true. it’s just lazy and pretty ignorant to blame the governments for everything. There’s been mistakes made by the governments across the UK but the amount of stupidity and arrogance from some people (e.g. the protest marchers/the partiers as shown on the news) - they have to shoulder personal responsibility.
doodleygirl · 31/10/2020 18:34

Of course it’s to do with individuals, this virus is spread via people. Stay the fuck away from others, take responsibility rather than bleating in about not understanding

Dee1975 · 31/10/2020 18:37

I agree. It’s is the idiots. And yes that’s individuals in my opinion. I’m not talking about people going out to work. I’m not talking about those doing jobs they need to do. I’m talking about people pushing the boundaries and finding loopholes.
For those that say ‘it’s the tories fault’. Why? They ask people to social distance. And people arnt!
There would be an amount of spreading infection from people having to go to work etc .. which we could cope with.
But the reason why it’s crazy high is because Of people breaking the rules (loads of ‘f you boris’ posts on here and how they will ‘ignore the rules’). So yeah - it’s your bloody fault. Ruined it for everyone.
I get the MH side. I really do. But this will now being going on longer because of people not thinking about the implications of what they are doing and just looking for the ‘well I need to hug my friend’ quick fix.

Toptotoeunicolour · 31/10/2020 18:37

It is totally due to the people who cannot exercise normal judgement and SD. Rules should not be necessary but they are because members of the public are unable to exercise sensible judgement and/or don't have community spirit.

BoingBoingyBoing · 31/10/2020 18:47

The government have systematically reduced beds and staff across the NHS whilst it's been in power.

It failed to act quickly enough in March costing thousands of lives.

It failed to ramp up testing capacty, and to this day continues to lie about the number of daily tests.

Track and Trace is a joke, and fell over because it was being run off an excel spreadsheet.

They have failed to implement proper border controls.

They have issued conflicting, poorly communicated advice all the way through which their own ministers and advisors openly ignore with no ramifications.

They mocked the idea of a circuit break lockdown, learning NOTHING from the cost of the delay back in March and oh look, here comes another lockdown.

But sure, blame the family next door who forgot to wear a mask to Tesco the other week.

HmmHmmHmmHmmHmmHmmHmm

Hayeahnobut · 31/10/2020 18:48

Problem is so many lefties think there is a magic money tree.

Remind us who

  • spent millions on a tracing system that was months late and still doesn't work,
  • millions on PPE that was ineffective,
  • lost at least a billion on unchecked fraudulent furlough claims,
  • spent over £50 million on an eating out scheme that actually caused more cases

Not the lefties causing the problem here, is it?

LucillevsLowkee · 31/10/2020 18:48

when you see how many people are boasting about going trick or treating, or leaving sweets out for kids tonight...

YANBU

People are stupid.

We would have moaned whatever the restrictions, too strict, not strict enough.. it's an impossible situation but it doesn't help that no one accept to take any responsibility. It's all because of "them", "the others".

NameChange84 · 31/10/2020 18:48

I’ve seen disgusting behaviour from members of the public. People can’t be trusted to stand on a fucking dot. Or cover their mouths when they cough. Some people genuinely CANNOT wear masks others, and it’s a LOT of others, just simply do not want to. I know people who seem to think it’s ok to go to IKEA or B&Q when they are meant to be in quarantine for 14 days after a trip to Spain because they have to have “something to do”. Parents who hold “Covid sleepovers” when a bubble gets sent home from school. People who insist that their support bubble can include two dozen people because they need to go to the pub with different groups of friends and family for their mental health. Someone who booked 4 tables of 6 (18 different households in a Tier 3 lockdown area) for the Chinese Buffet because it was her 40th and she wasn’t letting a pandemic get in the way of it. Complete morons who proudly let their 8 year olds draw shapes into the condensation made with their breath on the safety glass screens and counter in the pharmacy and then licked their fingers to wipe it all off. SO
many people who pull their mask down to chat to shop assistants, nurses, doctors etc. There’s people who love to flout the rules and people that genuinely do not seem to have an ounce of common sense. I don’t like this government but I cannot solely put the blame on them. I’m in Tier 3 and it’s rare that I see anyone actually complying.

I’ve genuinely lost my faith in people’s intelligence and morality during this pandemic. This “me first” “survival of the fittest, screw the vulnerable” attitude will be our undoing.

SandMason · 31/10/2020 18:49

What have the Tories got to apologise for?

ROFL

hetanom · 31/10/2020 18:49

The thing is, basically every country in Europe is seeing the same phenomenon. So is it individual mistakes that have caused it? Ineffective government strategies? Or just an inevitability?

Todayissunny · 31/10/2020 18:51

@CovidClara - Of course they haven't. It was inevitable and has happened even in highly compliant countries.

Which highly compliant countries?

LabiaMinoraPissusFlapus · 31/10/2020 18:53

The virus should be allowing to sweep through the population. My honest and unpopular opinion!

Cocklepops · 31/10/2020 18:53

Yes, it’s the Tories being absolute fuckwits in public. All Tories, all of the time.

Not a complete abdication of responsibility by a fairly large minority of the general public who are simply incapable of following basic rules, having any concept of common sense and don’t think they should curb their behaviours at all because ‘human rights, innit’. It’s certainly not those who spend a surprising amii ooooohnt of their time thinking about how they can get around the rules and then ask MN if they can get away with it.

Taken as a whole, Britain is now a land of fucking idiots and I’m embarrassed to say I’m from here. I used to be proud.

We have the nerve to look in horror at places like America at the public over there, refusing to behave in a decent manner and tut and shake our heads at the stupid Americans. We are as bad as them if not worse, because we don’t realise that we are.

Cunts. Cunts everywhere, who refuse to see that they are.

To think that all the idiots have brought us back to total lockdown ?
