To ask DP to look after DD (at school/after school club) while I provide live in care for DM over next few weeks?

DP has a demanding job and is concerned that school run will take two hours out of his day. Also concerned about impact on DD if I’m away for a few weeks. DM needs 2 months of care following major surgery.

The school contacted me today, and are being great (after my moan yesterday). They. are authorising for the time being, have outlined some additional work - and I’m going to keep them updated as mum progresses, with a view to my daughter returning as mum becomes independent. Again - I’m really grateful for this thread.

Great news, OP. I'm certain this is the right decision for your family, and your daughter's education won't suffer. How is your mum today?

Of course it's ok for him to do this, he's her father ffs!

He can also bring her (and himself) to stay on weekends so you can spent time with everyone.

@NancyJoan she’s doing really well, but I’m sure this is partly because she feels secure with us around. E.g a stoma leak (all over the carpet) was dealt with humour!

No, you're not unreasonable to expect your daughter's parent to actually parent her.

You're doing remarkably remember to look after yourself too. Even simple things like a hot bath, a cuppa and a magazine or a natter on the phone. A new set of loungewear and some treats in the weekly shop maybe
