No because it won’t cause it to go away. It is not a long term solution.
There are far, FAR worst implications of continued economic and services shut down (people are already struggling to get non Covid medial help for instance - you only have to read some of the threads on here to see that - and it’s going to get far worse). Delayed cancer treatments, people dropping dead from heart attacks because they are not going to hospital when they get chest pains bc they are scared (having been fear mongered by the media), extensive and severe food poverty, massively impacted mental health services leading to increased suicides.
The numbers predicted for October never materialised. Listening to front line medical staff they are NOT seeing the levels of illness they were in the summer.
Intensive care beds being “full” doesn’t sound as bad when you are told actually there’s only 6 beds IC in the sodding hospital.
There is also a huge amount of the population who will never develop Covid because of T cell immunity. Why is this rarely spoken about? Because it doesn’t fit the narrative of “Everyone could be affected by this”
People who can safely and securely lockdown then great, go ahead. Feel secure that you won’t get or pass on the virus. Those who NEED to live and work outside of their house for many, many genuine reasons need to be allowed to continue.
There are no more deaths from respiratory illness this year than last. But there will be a long term knock on effect to everyone who has lost businesses, work, economic security, mental health support, medical interventions in long term or undiagnosed issues etc etc
