looking for some inspiration. Ideally something a bit different. Also if I get some Christmas present inspiration for DM/MIL then that would be ideal 😁
Right now I wear Tom Ford Black Orchid

Clinique’s Happy is my favourite 😍

funinthesun19 · 30/10/2020 00:13

Nina by Nina Ricci. The bottle is in the shape of a red apple. It’s just absolutely gorgeous!

I also like Princess by Vera Wang.

Welshmaenad · 30/10/2020 00:14

Ellenisia by Penhaligan's, Versace Crystal Noir, and Lipstick Fever by Juliette Has A Gun.

Welshmaenad · 30/10/2020 00:16

I also love cassis en feuille by Miller Harris but they've stopped making it.

krustykittens · 30/10/2020 00:29

I don't know if it has been mentioned but I love Safari by Ralph Lauren. Can only get it online though.

Nonameslob · 30/10/2020 06:41

Lovely SJP - I really want to try something new but can't find anything that lasts as well as this or has such a light fresh scent.

SouterSally · 30/10/2020 08:29

Should add to my other post, I also love some aftershaves, JHL by Estee Lauder .

Also a discontinued DKNY aftershave in a odd black bottle from many years ago, smoky, woody, leather oh my goodness it was fabulous

Bought both Tom Fords Black Orchid and White Patchouli when they very first came out, got really fed up of both, they smelled really synthetic to me.

I also wore of lot of Eau Dyn by Clarins, but have found the last few bottles the fragrance is not lasting at all, I know its light but its fading very quickly.

After my last post as well I have ordered some Fidji, hope its not changed too much!

ouchmyfeet · 30/10/2020 08:42

I love fidgi, it's the only perfume my late mum ever wore and it transports me back to her in a single sniff.

It's not exactly the same now, but it's good enough.

ilovecardigans · 30/10/2020 11:40

What a lovely post @EarringsandLipstick.

One of the last Christmas gifts my late father and mother bought me before he died more than 20 years ago was this:

www.chanel.com/en_GB/fragrance-beauty/fragrance/p/women/n_5/n_5-eau-de-parfum-twist-and-spray-p125407.html#skuid-0125407

I still have about 5ml of the perfume left. I only ever wear it on Christmas Day now and remember my mum and dad (mum died just over 2 years ago). It's very special to me.

Shoxfordian · 30/10/2020 11:50

I like Pure Poison by Dior, Alien by Thierry Mugler and Opium by ysl

Pukkatea · 30/10/2020 11:54

Alien by Thierry Mugler.

I used to get so many compliments when I wore the Katie Price perfume as a teenager Grin I believe it was meant to be a dupe for Miss Dior?

GeminiRising · 30/10/2020 11:58

I wear Black Orchid too.

Also wear Jo Malone Lime Basil and Mandarin. I used to get Jo Malone Black Cedarwood and Juniper but they've stopped doing it now Sad

If you want a lighter fragrance, Ghost Sweetheart is very nice.

Other ones I've tried and loved are Gaultier 2 and Tommy Girl. I used to wear Chanel No 5 years ago.

I tend to wear a scent for a while and then try a different one.

JingsMahBucket · 30/10/2020 12:12

Comme Une Évidence by Yves Rocher

Estée Lauder Pleasures

ilovecardigans · 30/10/2020 12:16

@Becca8675309 I've always wanted to try Coromandel, but it's eye-wateringly expensive to blind buy a full bottle and then realise it doesn't suit.

Currently trawling t'internet to see if I can find a sample.

Angrymum22 · 30/10/2020 12:29

I have bought a sample of Coromandel, I’m still not sure whether I like it or not, although when I bought it I hadn’t realised I’d lost my sense of smell with Covid. I like it layered with Coco Chanel (modern formula).
My favourite is the original Coco, I’m another EBay trawler, it really does get reactions.
I wore it to work on Tuesday and our youngest member of staff (18) commented on it as soon as I walked in. It has always prompted comments from men. More than a couple of my sons teenage friends have commented so maybe Chanel should target the younger women with it again.

Becca8675309 · 30/10/2020 12:31

@ilovecardigans I just asked at the Chanel counter for a sample vial - I got I think a little 2ml one that lasted fo about 10 sprays? Agree too expensive to buy untested! Too bad Chanel doesn't do what Dior does - if you order a full size bottle they send also a free sample vial - and you can test before opening the full size bottle, and return free if you don't like it!

TheSeedsOfADream · 30/10/2020 13:58

@EarringsandLipstick

I see a few have mentioned my no 1 favourite, Dune. I fell in love with it at 18, and a kind friend of my mum's bought me it & matching body lotion for my 18th. I was bowled over. For many years, courtesy of my dad, who travelled a lot, I splashed it on my liberally, as he bought me a bottle every time he was away.

When he retired & then became ill, he wasn't able to get it for me. I then realised how expensive it was! (It's about €110 for 100ml). He died in 2018, and I buy Dune when I can, furiously saving Boots points usually. I always think of him, and my mum's lovely friend, now also deceased, who bought me my first bottle, when I wear it 😌

I also wear Chanel Noir, which I love too.

I love that perfumes can have beautiful memories attached to them. I have some vintage Dune, serendipitously bought from a sample shop to which a Mumsnetter had sold her grandmother's Dune. So every time I wear it I think of both of them. Smile

eBay generally have a few decants for sale.
It's certainly not an easy fragrance. I love it, it literally took my breath away when I first smelled it, but I still wasn't sure if I liked it if that makes any sense. It asks something of its wearer I think.

paintedpanda · 30/10/2020 14:07

I love Coco Mademoiselle and the original Jimmy Choo but I'm currently using (and in love with) Loewe Solo Ella. I found it so difficult to get a hold of though, I could only find one store that stocked it

Chrystal1982 · 30/10/2020 14:10

I wear Roberto Cavalli by Roberto Cavalli every day and Prada Candy for evenings out both of which haven’t been mentioned here.
Perfume is so personal isn’t it? My mum and I often like the same scent/perfumes however when we’ve tried to wear each other’s favourites they smell awful on us

ilovecardigans · 30/10/2020 14:11

Thanks @Becca8675309 and @TheSeedsOfADream.

I'll give eBay a try first as I'm a good 60 miles from a half-decent perfume counter. I'm usually planning my Christmas trip to Edinburgh (Jenners awesome perfume dept!) around now, but that's been kiboshed for obvious reasons...

It's great that Dior do that, Becca. I agree that it would be great if Chanel (and others) would do likewise.

I love your comments about Coromandel, Seeds. I really, really want to try it now!

chubbalubs · 30/10/2020 14:14

Gucci bamboo
Black opium
And ghost, the dark moon shaped one
Lady million empire.
All my favourites

BumDiggyDiggyDiggyBumDiggyBum · 30/10/2020 14:15

Good girl by Caroline Herrera 😍😍😍

Was gifted a bottle of Miss Dior from ex colleagues about 10 years ago and I absolutely loved it but haven’t been able to find the same one since. Is it just me or are there loads of different versions of it 😭

thismeansnothing · 30/10/2020 14:19

@Tunnocks34 I love LL. J got a sample of it at a wedding fair in 2010 and DH managed to find it me for some extortionate price online. I love it. Although wore it to work once and a colleague said it smelled of nappy sacks 😡😡 Yes it's a bit powdery scented but I Love it.

I also like CK2 and JPG classique

SwedishEdith · 30/10/2020 14:36

What does Coromandel smell like? I always see it mentioned on these threads but as it's completely out of my price range, what's a low-rent equivalent? I love the name.
