looking for some inspiration. Ideally something a bit different. Also if I get some Christmas present inspiration for DM/MIL then that would be ideal 😁
Right now I wear Tom Ford Black Orchid

OP posts:

tobee · 29/10/2020 19:35

@BeardyButton

Aqua di parma Iris Nobile Coco Chanel - always get complemented on this. It is a winter scent for me though. Been looking for sonething lighter for summer, but everything light smelks soapy on me.

Love Coco Chanel. Don't see it recommended enough.

This thread is evil. I have to resist temptation to go ordering.

shitinmyhandsandclap · 29/10/2020 19:36

I'd never buy perfume for anyone else as it's so personal but Insolence by Guerlain is my fave evening one. Absolutely adore CKBe for day time, it's an oldie but goody

tobee · 29/10/2020 19:37

Think my favourite autumn/winter is Cape Heartache by Imaginary Authors. If I look at reviews it seems to be very marmite though.

ilovecardigans · 29/10/2020 19:41

OP, I recommend a fantastic book called 'Perfumes: The A-Z Guide' written by Luca Turin & Tania Sanchez. It's intelligent, witty and brilliantly written. Scents are listed in alphabetical order, categorised (e.g. leather chypre, soapy floral etc.), reviewed and given a star rating (5 being masterpiece, 1 being awful).

I've bought perfumes blind based on this book and never once been disappointed. There is also a follow up book (imaginatively titled 'Perfumes: The Guide 2018').

Hugely enjoyable reading!

KittyMcKitty · 29/10/2020 19:42

Issey Miyake l’eau d’issey - I’ve worn it for years - try other things from time to time but never like them as much.

Theonewiththecandles · 29/10/2020 19:44

Ghost sweetheart but recently Paris - v naff but the smell of it takes me right back to Uni days and I need a bit of nostalgia for happier days at the moment . V strange how a smell can take you right back in time !

tanqueray10 · 29/10/2020 20:03

@CleverCatty I think they relaunched YSL Cinema as part of a heritage collection a few years back. John Lewis and Boots both have it online xx

Pimmsypimms · 29/10/2020 20:07

Elie Saab 😍

RumJerrySailorRum · 29/10/2020 20:12

Nina Ricci, L'air du Temps

Its the only perfume I wear, ever.

I regularly get told by strangers how beautiful I smell 😂

And my family tell me I don't smell like me if I'm not wearing it!

EwwSprouts · 29/10/2020 20:13

Have often worn Gucci.
Paloma Picasso is absolute favourite.

Like the sound of freesia and sea salt as a summer option.

Quincy69 · 29/10/2020 20:13

Hmm some of my favourites and repeat buys are Tom Ford Velvet Orchid, Tom Ford Neroli Amara and Lancome La vie est Belle. Somehow they always get me in a good mood!
