looking for some inspiration. Ideally something a bit different. Also if I get some Christmas present inspiration for DM/MIL then that would be ideal 😁
Right now I wear Tom Ford Black Orchid

Ooh what a question. I honestly couldn't pick a favourite but black orchid is one of my favourites so we may have similar taste. Others include:

Miller Harris la fumee- gorgeous for autumn/winter
Aromatics elixir by Clinique
Prada infusion d'iris
Serge Lutens - vitriol d'oeillet and amber sultans are both lovely

All of those are on the pricy side. My cheaper faves are:

Hugo Boss Deep Red - it's absolutely gorgeous.

L’ombre dans l’eau by Diptyque

Tom Ford- Tobacco and Vanille- always get compliments on this.

Hypnotic Poison, poison girl, and Jo Malone Myrrh and Tonka (it has very little staying power though).

Tom ford plum japonais is absolutely gorgeous. Never owned a bottle but I spray it often when I am in the shops.

Salvador Dali perfume. You hardly every see it any more but it's lush. Very sexy.

Yes this is gorgeous. I don't have it but have a dupe by Mac (velvet teddy) which I love but never get complimented on

OP - saw your comment about about growing into heavier scents. I'd recommend having a sniff of aromatics elixir next time you're at a Clinique counter. I couldn't have worn it as a young woman but I love it now (at 40)

Lady Million - it was my DM's perfume and I keep a bottle on my shelf, spray it occasionally for memories

I love Hermes 24 Faubourg and Si by Armani. Another vote also for Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. I love perfume, I'll be trying some of the recommendations on this thread!

Coco Chanel Mademoiselle is my absolute fav but it's so expensive, also love Jimmy Choo original

I love sweeter or fresh/citrussy perfumes.

My favourite is Chanel Chance eu tendre (slightly pink colour) but it's a bit pricey for every day use.

Every day is Princess by Vera Wang, usually on sale on amazon.

I love Gucci Bloom or Chloe live story. La vie est belle is also gorgeous

I can’t believe Hugo deep red is coming up here - that’s a blast from the past! It reminds me of many nights out in the early 00s. I loved it.

My current perfume is Lancôme la vie est belle.

I also wore be delicious in younger years and like you have moved to stronger scents and Black Orchid is one of my favourites too.
Two very contrasting recommendations from me:
Tom Ford Metallique... sweeter and metallic with something that takes me make to the nineties or naughties that I can’t place.
Or
An Oud base scent. Currently have Penhaligon’s Oud de Nile which is lovely. Oud passed me by for years until someone in my office was wearing it and I tracked them down to discover it was Oud and that there are loads of options. How I didn’t know this I don’t know.
